Development of the Interactive Flexible Information System

  • The Internet has made a huge impact on the way we, as humans, communicate. During the last decade a series of new communication mediums have emerged and communication protocols have come and gone. This puts new requirements on the development process and architecture of the communication platforms, operated by communities, in order to proactively ensure support for future communication protocols. Even further, additional requirements are added when the software itself will be maintained by a community. In this paper we explore the world of Open Source Software. We present our suggestions of usable design-principles and our process in developing a sustainable information system.

Recent Developments and Future Prospects on Biofuels R&D

  • The transport biofuel is emerging a promising option to realize the sustainable growth of our society. Two biofuels, bioethanol and biodiesel, are currently used in the transport sector. As the production of biofuels is getting activated, the stable supply of the feedstocks is becoming a critical issue. Active works have been carried out to secure the stable supply of the raw materials for the production of biofuels. One approach is the breeding of the energy crops to get higher productivity and / or the desirable fuel properties. The other approach is finding new energy crops which may not be used for edible purpose. First current aspects and challenging issues for the implementation of biofuels have been introduced. Finally the recent works and future prospects on the development of the energy crops are summarized.

  • Post industrial technologies have improved human standard of living, however, a host of negative environmental consequences from the unlimited industrial appetite have posed serious global challenges. Remanufacturing is an industrial manufacturing process that is to restore old products to perform like a new and to save energy, natural resources, landfill space and to reduce air pollution by less re-smelting. By extending product life cycle, remanufacturing gives us enormous opportunities for sustainable development of our society. This paper introduces current state of the art and future perspective in the field of automotive remanufacturing focusing on alternator and start motor. The results could be used as a basic information for further remanufacturing applications in Korea.

학교시설의 녹색건축인증제 개선을 위한 문헌분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of G-SEED through Analysis of Previous Studies on School Facilities)

  • Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design(G-SEED) has been implemented for the realization of sustainable development and resource-saving and eco-friendly buildings from 2002. Studies about the green buildings are made actively and is being developed through constant revision. However, study results of green building have not been fully reflected in the standard. Therefore, this study analyzes the previous studies about G-SEED for school facilities and check the degree of to reflect the problems and improvements suggested in previous studies. This study will be a reference of future revision Substantial problems and requirements are not reflected in revision standard. Proposed improvement requirements are classed as to improve the items(establish specific standards, supplementation), strengthen standards(designate the prerequisite items), propose a new evaluation method, add new items. delete exist items and adjust the score. Therefore, future revision of G-SEED for school facilities should reflect the results of previous studies.

  • The role of environment-friendly and energy-efficient rail transportation is on the rise as a "sustainable transportation means" to cope with environmental changes that are major concerns around the world. Along with the environmental problems, the CO2 inhibition issue became critical for mankind to prepare global warming and high oil prices. It has come to a point where an alternate means are needed to revitalize plans including renewable energy, bicycle utilization, and prepare new solutions for decreasing number of cars within the city The personal rapid Transit(PRT) is the revolutionary future transportation means that can replace cars to deal with ever-increasing traffic congestions, vehicles, and environmental/energy problems. Expected as an efficient means, technology development has already taken place in developed countries such as U.S., England, and Germany. To meet the future demands, PRT installation around the nation's new and existing towns is being examined to produce important factors. The factors are produced for examining the availability of system requirements during design and construction practice.

Fuel-Flexible Anode Architecture for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • This paper provides an overview of the trends and future directions in the development of anode materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using hydrocarbons as fuel, with the aim of enabling a decentralized energy supply. Hydrocarbons (such as natural gas and biogas) offer promising alternatives to traditional energy sources, as their use in SOFCs can help meet the growing demands for energy. We cover several types of materials, including perovskite structures, high-entropy alloys, proton-conducting ceramic materials, anode on-cell catalyst reforming layers, and anode functional layers. In addition, we review the performance and long-term stability of cells based on these anode materials and assess their potential for commercial manufacturing processes. Finally, we present a model for enhancing the applicability of fuel cell-based power generation systems to assist in the realization of the H2 economy as the best practice for enabling distributed energy. Overall, this study highlights the potential of SOFCs to make significant progress toward a sustainable and efficient energy future.

  • 국가의 신성장 동력으로써 유비쿼터스 도시(U-City) 개발이 추진되고 있다. U-City는 국가 차원에서 수행되는 미래전략 프로젝트이며, 도시의 다양한 문제점들을 해결하여 지속가능한 도시 조성에 그 목적이 있다. 또한, 전 세계적으로도 미래도시 연구의 선도적인 역할을 하고 있으며, 정부, 산업계를 비롯하여 학계에서도 U-City 개발과 관련한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 하지만, 무분별한 사업 추진과 장기적인 효과에 대한 가시적인 평가가 이루어지고 있지 않기 때문에 자칫 하면 난개발이 될 수 있다는 우려가 발생하고 있다. 따라서, 이러한 문제점들을 극복하고 보다 안정적인 개발이 이루어지기 위해서는 U-City 사업평가에 대한 근본적인 고찰이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 U-City 사업을 점검하기 위한 평가체계를 제시하고, U-City에 적용하여 평가체계의 활용방안을 논하고자 한다.

스윕 가스-진공 하이브리드식 탈기막 공정을 활용한 암모니아 폐수처리 및 선택적 회수 (Ammonia Wastewater Treatment and Selective Recovery Using a Sweep Gas-Vacuum Hybrid Type Membrane Degassing Process)

  • In this study, a sweep gas - vacuum hybrid type membrane degassing process was proposed for ammonia wastewater treatment. In addition, the ammonia selective recovery of the hybrid type membrane degassing process was also investigated. As a result, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed better degassing performance (54.9 mg NH3/m2min for 360 min) than the sweep gas type (32.3 mg NH3/m2min) or vacuum type (22 mg NH3/m2min). Additionally, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed an excellent ammonia selectivity (103 times compared to Na+ Na+, 133 times compared to Ca2+). The ammonia selectivity was appeared to be due to the conversion characteristics of ammonium ion / dissolved ammonia depending on pH. The results in this study are expected to be used in the development of ammonia wastewater treatment and ammonia recovery in the future.

뉴노멀 시대의 컨셔스 패션에 나타난 제로웨이스트 패션디자인 연구 (A Study on the Zero Waste Fashion Design in Conscious Fashion Perspective from the New Normal Era)

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about environmental severity and new social, economic, and cultural changes. Conscious fashion, which is oriented to sustainable and valuable consumption, has become a trend to consume products produced using eco-friendly and ethical processes, from the selection of the product materials to the manufacturing process. The purpose of this study is to identify the concepts and characteristics of conscious fashion and zero waste, and to explore design trends of zero wastein the new normal era of conscious fashion through the analysis of various cases. The research method is a literature review on conscious fashion based on relevant professional and academic books and articles, designer collections, and campaigns from 2010 to the present, when conscious fashion as eco-friendliness and sustainable fashion became a trend. The concept and characteristics of conscious fashion were examined them in terms of environmental, ethical, social, and cultural aspects and the concept and characteristics of zero waste through previous studies and case analysis. Through this, the trends of zero-waste design in conscious fashion were categorized into: first, an eco-friendly design orientation that utilizes reuse and reduce methods of clothing and fabric; second, a variable design orientation that practices zero waste designs by using diversity of patterns through deconstruction, disassembly, and various cutting methods. Third, long-term circulation of design through the recycling of resources by second-hand trade, the utilization of stock clothing, resale, and availability of eco-friendly materials through the development of new technologies. As an active practice for the sustainable fashion industry expands, it is expected that continuous research will be conducted as a future core value to realize the possibility of long-term circular zero-waste design through social responsibility and conscious recycling, reuse, and reproduction.

지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 성취를 위한 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램 개발 (Development of a Theme-Selection Activity in 'Clothing Life' in Relation to SDGs for the Free Semester Program)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)를 위한 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램을 개발하는 데 있다. 이에 따라 중학교 가정 교과서 의생활영역 내용을 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)를 기준으로 분석하여 내용 체계 및 학습 목표를 설정한 후, 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램을 개발하여 실행 가능성 및 타당성을 검증하였다. 교과서분석 결과 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)로 비추어 본 가정 교과서 의생활 영역의 내용은 사회발전, 경제성장, 환경보존차원을 모두 포함하고 있었으나 각 영역 속 일부 1-2가지 목표에 집중되어있는 것을 확인하였다. 분석 결과를 토대로 '의(義)로운 의(衣)생활' 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램은 SDG12를 중심으로 한 '모두가 꿈꾸는 미래'와 SDG1, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10을 중심으로 한 '패스트 패션의 두 얼굴', SDG13을 중심으로 한 '호모클리마투스로 살아가기', 마지막으로 SDG9, SDG12를 중심으로 한 '우리가 만드는 미래'로 구성된 총 8차시의 교수·학습과정안과 교수·학습활동 자료이다. 이에 대한 전문가 평가과정을 통하여 프로그램의 교수·학습 적절성과 현장 실행 가능성을 검토하고, 피드백 의견을 적극적으로 반영하여 프로그램을 수정 및 보완하였다. 이 논문을 통해 가정교과가 지속가능한 삶을 실천하는 시민을 양성하는 교과이자, 지속가능발전교육의 중추적인 교과로 자리 잡을 수 있는 토대 마련에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
