  • Fifteen years after the modernization of traditional markets, commercial facilities and some 1,000 markets across the country contacted arcade operators, there are no specific guidelines on installation standards, exact guidelines for public facilities, and guidelines on law, maintenance and management yet. Therefore, it is necessary to derive a plan that reflects the mindset of the market project and the users as basic planning data for making arcade remodeling of traditional markets more advanced. As a research method, case studies and surveys were conducted and the details are as follows. Through the case study, this study drew suggestions that were available and needed in Korea on the planning plan of arcade space in the developed traditional market and conducted user preference. The survey participants are 150 users of Daegu seomun market. In addition, the survey contents are approached with the concept of remodeling remuneration, so the total number of questions is 47 including 'accessibility', 'comfort', 'openness', 'safety' and 'integrity', which are five elements of the arcade plan. The survey method assessed the importance and satisfaction of each questionnaire on a 5-point scale, and the survey results were compared with technical statistics and means using the SPSS statistics package. The results of user awareness and image survey, in which the installation and remodeling of the ventilation system of the crosshairs are mentioned in the event of fire or in the case of daily ventilation, are important factors in safety. The user-conscious survey, analyzed in 'integrity', indicates that the use of multi-purpose space is required, and that the layout of street stalls and parking and user movements should be integrated. Mac of this study is going to present direction of remodeling plan and behavior analysis by analyzing user preference data for advanced remodeling of arcade in traditional markets.

  • This paper aims to introduce the basic concept of probabilistic record linkage and its statistical framework, and describe the specific process and principle of performing it using a real example from Statistics Korea. First, we briefly describe the deterministic record linkage and compare it with probabilistic record linkage. We introduce the Fellegi-Sunter model framework for record linkage and the related paprameters: m-probability, u-probability, matched weight and decision rule. Finally, we show the detailed process of record linkage under Fellegi-Sunter model framework and evaluate the record linkage results, using sample data from the registered-based census and Population and Housing Census survey in Statistics Korea.

  • Burn-in is an engineering method which is used to eliminate early failures of products or systems after they have been produced. Recently, various models for determining optimal burn-in times have been developed, where some preventive maintenance policies were considered together with burn-in problem. In this paper, a survey of recent research in burn-in is undertaken.

  • In sample surveys, we expect preferred samples that reduce the survey cost and increase the precision of estimators will be selected. Goodman and Kish (1950) introduced controlled selection as a method of sample selection that increases the probability of drawing preferred samples, while decreases the probability of drawing nonpreferred samples. In this paper, we obtain the controlled plans using the maximum entropy principle, and when the order of nonpreferred samples is considered, we propose the algorithm to obtain a controlled plan.

  • Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given large data set. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. There are three primary threshold measures in association rule; support and confidence and lift. In the case of appling real world to association rules, we have some difficulties in data interpretation because we obtain many rules. In this paper, we develop the model of association rules using latent variables for environmental survey data.

  • We present a brief survey concerning the relations between mean residual life and failure rate. Change points of mean residual life and failure rate are known to be different in general and we explore such situations in this paper. A few parametric models which show bathtub-shaped failure rate are examined in details, including the shape of its corresponding mean residual life function. We give some graphical comparisons of trend changes of mean residual life and failure rate for various choices of parameters for each parametric model.

  • Under repeated surveys, missing values often appear for various reasons and are replaced by new samples. It is investigated that the existing estimator in repeated survey by Jessen (1942), which has been originally developed for the new samples of fixed size, can be used in such situation where the size of new samples is random. It is shown that the proposed estimator has smaller variance than the sample mean.

  • Income inequality in Korea has increased after the economic crisis, and the main reason for the widening of income distribution is due to the increase of the unemployed when analyzed using the Family Icome and Expenditure Survey(FIES). However, income inequality has not decreased although the rate of unemployment decreased after 2000. Further data bases for income-related statistics are necessary to examine the exact causes of changing income inequality as a whole since the FIES covers only statistics on urban employees' wage and salary in Korea.

  • New statistical method is proposed to coherently combine Baryon Acoustic Oscillation statistics (BAO) and peculiar velocity measurements exploiting decomposed density--density and velocity--velocity spectra in real space from the observed redshift distortions in redshift space, 1) to achieve stronger dark energy constraints, sigma(w)=0.06 and sigma(w_a)=0.20, which are enhanced from BAO or velocity measurements alone, and 2) to cross--check consistency of dark energy constraints from two different approaches; BAO as geometrical measurements and peculiar velocity as large scale structure formation observables.
