Forest Survey consists of road survey, topographic survey, tree mapping survey, stream survey and also ridge survey. Information from forest survey is important and become essential in preparing base map to be used for forest harvesting planning and control. With the current technologies technique of data processing and mapping from traditionally hand drawn method had shifted to a computer system particularly the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD). This gives great advantages to the forest managers and logging operators. However data processing and mapping duration could be further reduced by integrating CAD with other established software such as Microsoft Excel. This time study to show that there is significance difference in term of duration for data processing and efficiency using AutoCAD in combination with Microsoft Excel program as compare to the use of AutoCAD program alone. From the study, it shows that the integration of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel is able to reduce 70% of duration for data processing and mapping as compared to the use of AutoCAD program alone.

Based upon the Labor Demand Survey and the Survey on Wage Structure being conducted annually by the Ministry of Labor, we suggest a convenient statistical tool which can analyze and appraise the effect of introducing a new survey method. Since both surveys have in common very similar sampling frames and sampling schemes in structure, one can measure the variability of one survey on the basis of the other. The influence appraisal method adopted here is applied to ratio data between two independent estimates belonging to the identical category by year and has a statistical form of comparing ratio data before introducing a new survey with those after introducing a new survey.

Ecological methods were reviewed through reports such as environmental impact assessment and damage effect of fishery in the Korean watershed. Survey items in marine ecological field were included: phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic animal, algae, adult fish, egg and juvenile of fish. A standardization of survey method in the field of community ecology was suggested to consider the convenience, Sequency in Use of device, accuracy of data collected from that. It is necessary that spatial data should be sufficiently acquired toy statistical analysis of biodiversity and spatial comparison. Quantitative sampling method must be inevitably adopted based nature of biota and geographical type of the survey area. The same sampling method can make the data compared spatially but can't be applicable in all area. Standardizing survey method should be by no means under certain restriction of study and would become different according to survey environments. The first thing is minutely understanding about ecological character of biota inhabiting in certain area, and then determining survey method.

Social indicator survey can identify the state of society as a whole. When we create a policy, social indicator survey can reflect the public opinion of the region. Social indicator survey is an important measure of social change. Social indicator survey has been conducted in many municipalities (Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongsangnamdo, etc.). But, the result of social indicator survey analysis is mainly the basic statistical analysis. In this study, we propose a new data mining methodology for effective analysis. We propose a 3-step complex data mining in society indicator survey. 3-step complex data mining uses three data mining method (intervening association rule, clustering, decision tree).

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the opinion survey data quality used in theses and to suggest the data quality evaluation model. We used 16 items which were suggested by KASR(Korean Association for Survey Research) as a standard of survey data quality evaluation in thesis. According to the result, the data quality used in the theses is very poor level not to be accepted. And we tried difference tests between two proportions in order to find there were significant differences among stochastical variables. The result showed that there were some significant differences in sampling error and number of analyzing method between doctor and master. we suggested a model that was weighted by 9 special items for a survey data quality evaluation in a thesis by observing them from KASR's principles.

The internet survey methods have been more and more widely used as the coverage of the fixed-line telephone is being reduced due to the diffusion of mobile phone. So, there is a need to know the accuracy of this new survey method. This study aims to estimate the accuracy of the internet survey method and identify the factors affecting the accuracy of this method, For this purpose, we analyzed the election poll data during the 17th general election period. These data include fixed-line telephone survey data, internet survey data, mobile phone survey data and the election voting data. The analysis shows that the prediction errors of the internet survey were a little more than those of the telephone or mobile phone survey. But the differences are not significant. It follows from this result that we can use the internet survey method in social survey context. This study also found that the respondent's willingness to participate in the survey, the probability of being at home during survey and the respondent's educational level were affecting the accuracy of the internet survey. Further studies to develop weighting method with these factors are needed.

The population of internet users are rapidly increasing and the interest of the internet survey is also increasing. Recent years has seen a transition from traditional modes of data collection into internet survey. Some surveys are administered with mixed modes of traditional data collection methods and internet survey, and some surveys are conducted through internet only instead of traditional modes, such as telephone survey, postal survey, face-to-face interviews and so on. However, one of most crucial parts of a survey is the reliability of the collected data and internet survey is no exemption. Changwon National University has been annually conducting a survey of new students and transfer students with almost same contents of questionnaire. The survey is a longitudinal survey and it had been administered by paper-pencil surveys until 2009. In 2010 the survey was administered through internet. Every students has to login with student ID number and the last 7-digit of national identity registration number, and complete the 2010 survey before registration their courses. If they leave any question without being answered, then could not move to the registration site for courses. This study explores the distortion of responses using the new students survey of Changwon National University, which could occur when the survey responses are not confidential. We find that the distortion of responses occurs from the questions with social desirability pressure, pressure of winning favor with the researcher, and pressure of explaining their situations. There are no distortion of responses from the questions which are describing simple opinions or simple facts, for example, the place they plan to live while in school.

Today, the statistical survey has been carried out variously for the decision-making and administration of the organization. We use the different items in the statistical survey according to the purpose of study. Currently, Gyeongnam province is executing the social index survey to the provincials every year. But, this survey has the limit of the analysis as execution of the different survey per 3 year cycles. The solution for this problem is data fusion technique. Data fusion is generally defined as the use of techniques that collect to combine data including multiple sources in order to raise the quality of information. But, data fusion doesn't mean the ultimate result. Therefor, efficient analysis for the fused data is also important. In this study, we suggest the application methodology of neural network by latent variable through the fused data in statistical survey.

Government statistics have been treated the most reliable data sources in Korea. In the last 20 years, the numbers and scopes of the government statistics have been expended rapidly. Although government statistics have been widely used in many researches, research methods used in collecting government statistics have not been discussed often. In 1998, we reviewed the survey questionnaire, data collecting methods and procedures of one government statistics, the Labor Demand Survey. Based on the pilot study, we also proposed several survey methods for the quality improvement of the survey. The Ministry of Labor had adopted some suggestions in 1999 survey. This paper introduces the ways in which we investigated the Labor Demand Survey,, detected the problems and issues in the survey, suggestions for the improvement of the survey, and several survey methods adopted by the Ministry of Labor. However, the effects of the new measures are not included in this paper, and will be studied in the near future when the data become available.
