A Study on the Dyeing Properties of Silk and Cotton Fabrics with Chestnut Bur Extract(2) (밤송이 추출액을 이용한 견과 면직물 염색 (2))

  • This paper investigated the dyeability and surface color of silk and cotton fabrics deed with chustnut bur extract. Some experiments were performed under the various dyeing conditions such as dyeing temperature, dyeing time, repetition of dyeing, dyeing pH, mordanting condition, washing fastness and light fastness with silk and cotton fabrics. The results obtained were as follows 1. $\Delta{E}$ value was increased when dyeing temperature and time was higher, value of munsell was shifted from Yellow to Yellow-Red at hither dyeing temperature and time In silk and cotton fabrics. 2. Optimal dyeing pH was increased with acidity of dyeing solution in silk and cotton fabrics, and repetition of dyeing did not change the dye-uptake. 3. When mordanting time and temperature was higher, $\Delta{E}$ value was larger in silk and cotton fabrics. Silk and cotton fabrics with Fe-premordanting treatment had best dyeability, but treatment with Sn-mordanting was worst. 4. Washing fastness and light fastness was excellent in various dyeing condition at silk fabric but cotton was without practical use.

  • The comparative detergency of Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) solution near the first critical micelle concentration (CMC) was measured by means of a 131 I-labelled castor oil as a soil. More than 95% radiochemical purity of 131 I-labelled castor oil was obtained using potassium lidide as a carrier. Polyester test fabric was soiled with 131 I-labelled castor oil, and washed in a conventional washing apparatus mounted on appropriate devices. Fabric radioactivities were measured before and after washing by a scintilation counter. Near the first CMC, the detergency of SDS was increased with decreasing of surface tension of SDS. It was also shown that 131 I-labelled castor oil was useful for studying the detergency of SDS.

  • The study was conducted on the change of value of physical properties, mechanical properties, appearance of seams as repeated washing and drying with 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 times. Commercial cotton 100%, cotton/polyester 80/20% and polyester 100% dress shirts were used to investigate drying characteristics and physical properties and compare of each materials after repeated drying. The mechanical properties like tensile, shear, surface, compression, thickness and weight were measured by the KES-FB system.

Quality Characteristics during Storage of Ginseng Washed by Different Methods (세척방법에 따른 인삼의 저장 중 품질특성)

  • We sought to improve the methods for washing fresh raw ginseng. The quality of ginseng surface-washed by different methods was evaluated during storage at 10C and $20^{\circ}C$. The raw ginseng surface-washing method was a full-cone spray-type procedure using water and air. The water for decontamination had an electrolysis value of 80 ppm, also known as electrolysis water $2^{\circ}C$ water and water containing 5 ppm chlorine dioxide, were also used for decontamination. The Hunter color (${\Delta}E$) of ginseng washed with water withan electrolysis value of 80 ppm, or water with 5 ppm chlorine dioxide, was greater than that seen after other washing methods were used. The weight loss after washing with 5 ppm chlorine dioxide water was similar to that seen after washing with $2^{\circ}C$ water or 80 ppm electrolysis water. Reductions in total microorganism levels, and counts of yeasts and molds, assayed 10 days after washing with 5 ppm chlorine dioxide water were greater than seen after use of other sterilization methods. Quality maintenance on storage, at both 10C and 20C, after washing with 80 ppm electrolysis water, was better than that noted after other sterilization methods. The moisture content of washed ginseng was similar under all storage conditions tested.

Development of Washing System for Improving Microbiological Quality of Blueberry after Postharvest (수확 후 블루베리의 미생물학적 품질향상을 위한 세척시스템 개발)

  • To inactivate the microorganisms on the surface of blueberries after harvest and to secure microbial safety, a bubble-aqueous chlorine dioxide washing system was developed. After treating the freshly prepared blueberries with the bubble-aqueous chlorine dioxide washing system, the changes in the microbial populations and quality of the blueberries were determined during storage $4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. Microbiological data indicated that the populations of total aerobic bacteria, yeast and mold decreased by 1.4 and 1.3 log CFU/g at the treatment of 20 ppm aqueous chlorine dioxide with the system, respectively. There was no significant difference in color change and weight loss during storage among treatments. In addition, this washing system could handle approximately 60 kg of blueberry per hour, resulting in labor-saving. Therefore, these results clearly suggest that the bubble-aqueous chlorine dioxide washing system could be useful in improving the microbiological safety of fresh blueberries after harvest.

Study of Spin Jig Development for Cleaning of the PCB component (PCB기판 세척용 스핀 지그개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined PCB component cleaning on a PCB component surface, which has defects of precipitation type washing (existing rinse method), sealant and foreign material formed in the adhesive process that could not be removed easily. The spin jig was developed for PCB component cleaning, in which the PCB component settled down, to solve the conventional problem of the removal of foreign material with the centrifugal force by high speed rotation. The results are as follows. With decreasing fraction defect in PCB component washing, the development and substrate damage decreased by more than 80% according to the abstergent in the rotary type using the centrifugal force in the existing precipitation type. When the base plate showed a large difference with the time to include the process after washing the design using the existing method, easy attachment and separation of the PCB component could be possible. The washing time was enhanced 90% compared to the existing time. The reliability of the security and washing collaboration of the design and stability of the cleaning process could be secured so that there was no phenomenon of secession, the PCB component fixed for a cleansing rotation jig could maintain a fixed force by the centrifugal force. The stability and reliability of the washing process and the defective rate could be improved to less than 1%.

  • This study is to research on two phase printing method by use of colorants extracted from sappan wood. As for the research, printing effect of printing paste, streaming time, optimal mordant concentration, change of surface color and colorfastness were measured. This experiment showed that modified starch were best on surface color among the modified starch, sodium-alginate, guar gum. And the surface color was best when the steaming time was 60 minutes, mordant concentration 8%(ow.f). And for colorfastness experiment, colorfastness to drycleaning was good, but colorfastness to light and colorfastness to washing showed no desirable result.

Surface Property of PET Fabric Treated with $CF_4$ Plasma and $C_2F_6$ Plasma (플루오르 화합물을 플라즈마 처리한 PET 직물의 표면특성)

  • PET fabric was grafted with $CF_4$ or $C_2F_6$ plasmas generated by glow discharge. The water repellency of plasma-treated fabrics were evaluated with contact angle meter. The change in surface morphologies was observed by SEM, and the change of surface chemical characteristics were analyzed by FT-IR, ESCA and microchemical analysis technique. The results obtained are as follows : 1) The contact angle of plasma-treated fabric was over $150^\circ{C}$. 2) It was observed by SEM that the surface of treated substrate was over coated with thin film formed by the fluorocarbon plasma treatment. 3) According to ESCA analysis, there were prevailing -CHF-, $-CF_2$- and a little $-CF_3$ components on fluorocarbon plasma treated substrate. -CHF- and $-CF_2$- components were reduced by washing, and $-CF_2$- component was recovered by heat treatment. 4) In consideration of quantitative analysis of fluorine and F/C ratio by ESCA, we found that fluorination reached to the inner of substrate.

  • S. marcescens cultured at $30^{\circ}C$ with vigorous shaking was shown to produce red-pigment, prodigiosin, in the senescent phase of growth. Also, it showed many hydrophobic characteristrics, which were tested by the adherence to noncharged surfaces of polystyrene dishes, a typical agent for the binding of hydrophobic cells and molecules. However, when the cell was cultured at $37^{\circ}C$, it no longer produced either red pigment or hydrophobic materials. Therefore, the bacteria cultured at $37^{\circ}C$ was completely washed-out from the polystyrene dishes at the copious washing step with tap water, in contrast to the cell cultured at $30^{\circ}C$ which was sticked onto the polystyrene dishes very tightly. The lipid compositions extracted from the S. marcescens cultured at $30^{\circ}C$ or $37^{\circ}C$ were very different from each other; the phospholipids, glycolipids and unidentified lipids were produced from the cell cultured at $30^{\circ}C$, whereas large amounts of serratamolide, amphipathic compound, were produced from the cell cultured at $37^{\circ}C$. The data suggest that the pronounced cell surface hydrophobicity of the S. marcescens is mediated by a combination of several surface factors that were affected by cultivation time and temperatures.

Anti-microbial Effects of Washing and Chlorine Treatments on Fresh Fruits (과일류의 염소 소독 농도 및 세척 횟수에 따른 미생물 제거 효과)

  • This study examined the anti-microbiological effects of chlorine treatment on the surface of fresh fruits, in order to improve microbiological safety in school foodservice operations. Non-peeled fruit(strawberries) and peeled fruit(bananas) were treated with different concentrations of chlorinated water and rinsing numbers, followed by microbiological testing. The fruits were immersed at different concentrations of chlorinated water(0 ppm, 50 ppm, and 100 ppm) and durations(3 min and 5 min), and were then rinsed with tap water(one time, two times, or three times). The total viable cell counts of both the strawberries and bananas ranged from $10^3$ CFU/g to $10^4$ CFU/g, and coliform levels ranged from $10^2$ CFU/g to $10^3$ CFU/g. As the chlorine concentration, immersion time, and rinsing number increased, anti-microbiological activity increased. The largest microbial reduction was shown with immersion for 5 min in 100 ppm chlorinated water and three rinsings. In the strawberries, this treatment reduced the initial population of total viable cells and coliforms by 3.29 log CFU/g and to an undetectable level, respectively, no total viable cells or coliforms were detected on the banana surface following this treatment. However, after a sterilization treatment with immersion for 5 min in 50 ppm chlorinated water and three rinsings, the total viable cell counts and coliform counts of the strawberries and bananas decreased to acceptable levels, based on the microbiological standards for ready-to-eat foods. Overall, it was shown that the sterilization treatment of 50 ppm chlorinated water, soaking for 5 min, and three rinsings provided an effective reduction in surface microbes, and enhanced the microbiological safety of the fruit.
