  • The purpose of this research is to develop thin film materials and fabrication process for efficient $TiO_2$/CdTe solar cells. In this work photocatalyst titanium dioxide was prepared by sol-gel procedure according to reaction condition, the mole ratio of $H_2O$/TTIP, pH of solution and aging condition of powder. The prepared titanium dioxide was thermally treated from 300 to $750^{\circ}C$. Maximum intensity of anatase phase of titanium dioxide was achieved by calcination at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. And it was mixture of anatase and rutile phase when temperature of calcination was $750^{\circ}C$. It has been known that the properties of synthesized titanium dioxide according to aging time and calcination temperature was converted to anatase phase crystal on increasing of aging time. Also the current density has been increased with aging time and temperature, the efficiency has been increased with because of reason on above results. The formation of chemical bonding on oxygen and cadmium telluride under oxygen circumstances had been observed, and oxygen of thin film surface on cadmium telluride had been decreased with the treatment of chromate and hydrazine. As results had been shown that the energy conversion efficiency of cadmium telluride use by rapidly treatmented heat at the condition of $550^{\circ}C$ under air circumstance got 12.0%, 6.0% values according to $0.07cm^2$, $1.0cm^2$ surface area, respectively.

  • $Cu/ZnO/Al_2O_3$ catalysts for water gas shift (WGS) reaction were synthesized by co-precipitation method with the fixed molar ratio of Cu/Zn/Al precursors as 45/45/10. Copper and zinc precursor were added into sodium carbonate solution for precipitation and aged for 24h. During the aging period, aluminum precursor was added into the aging solution with different time gap from the precipitation starting point: 6h, 12h, and 18h. The resulting catalysts were characterized with SEM, XRD, BET surface measurement, $N_2O$ chemisorption, TPR, and $NH_3$-TPD analysis. The catalytic activity tests were carried out at a GHSV of $27,986h^{-1}$ and a temperature range of 200 to $400^{\circ}C$. The catalyst morphology and crystalline structures were not affected by aluminum precursor addition time. The Cu dispersion degree, surface area, and pore diameter depended on the aging time of Cu-Zn precipitate without the presence of $Al_2O_3$ precursor. Also, the interaction between the active substance and $Al_2O_3$ became more stronger as aging duration, with Al precursor presented in the solution, increased. Therefore, it was confirmed that aluminum precursor addition time affected the catalytic characteristics and their catalytic activities.

  • Concrete structures need repairing due to various reasons such as deteriorative effects, overloading, poor quality of workmanship and design failures. Cement based repair mortars are the most widely used solutions for concrete repair applications. Various factors may affect the bond strength between concrete substrate and repair mortars. In this paper, the effects of polymer additives, strength of the concrete substrate, surface roughness, surface wetness and aging on the bond between concrete substrate and repair mortar has been investigated. Full factorial experimental design is employed to investigate the main and interaction effects of these factors on the bond strength. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) under design of experiments (DOE) in Minitab 14 Statistical Software is used for the analysis. Results showed that the interaction bond strength is higher when the application surface is wet and strength of the concrete substrate is comparatively high. According to the results obtained from the analysis, the most effective repair mortar additive in terms of bonding efficiency was styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) within the investigated polymers and test conditions. This bonding ability improvement can be attributed to the self-flowing ability, high flexural strength and comparatively low air content of SBR modified repair mortars. On the other hand, styrene acrylate rubber (SAR) modified mortars was found incompatible with the concrete substrate.

  • The copper deposit on steel plate was prepared by pyrophosphate copper plating solution made with variation of inorganic additive. $NH_4OH$ and $NH_4NO_3$ were used as inorganic additives. The copper layer characteristics - tensile strength, crystallite size and crystal orientation - were evaluated by X-ray diffraction and Universal Test Machine. The presence of ammonium nitrate results in reduction of average roughness value from $0.08{\mu}m$ to $0.03{\mu}m$. In pyrophosphate copper plating solution without Inorganic additive, tensile strength of electrodeposit copper foil was reduced from 600 MPa to 180 MPa after 7 days aging. However, when adding ammonium nitrate, there was almost no change of tensile strength, intensity of crystal orientation - (111), (200) and (220) - and crystallite size (2~30 nm).

  • The use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcing bars in concrete structures has been increased as an alternative of steel reinforcement which has shown greater vulnerability to corrosion problem. However, the long-term performance of concrete members with FRP reinforcement is still questioned in comparison to the used of steel reinforcement. This study presents the results of an experimental study on the long-term behaviors of GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) bar reinforced concrete beams after exposed to accelerated aging in an environmental chamber with temperature of $46^{\circ}C$ ($115^{\circ}F$) and 80% of relative humidity up to 300 days. The objectives of this research was to compare strength degradation and change of ductility between GFRP reinforced concrete beams and steel reinforcement beams after accelerated aging. Two types (wrapped and sand-coated surface) of GFRP bars and steel were reinforced. in concrete beams. Test results show that the failure modes of GFRP bar reinforced concrete beams are very similar with traditional RC beams, and the change of load-carrying capacity of steel reinforcing concrete beam is greater than that of GFRP bar reinforcing concrete beam under the accelerated aging. Test result also shows that the use of GFRP reinforcing in concrete could be introduced more brittle failure than that of steel reinforcing for practical application. The deformability factor up to compression failures indicates no significant variation before and after exposure of accelerated aging.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of surface treatments on shear bond strength of resin composite bonded to thermocycled and non-thermocycled CAD/CAM resin-ceramic hybrid materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 120 specimens ($10{\times}10{\times}2mm$) from each material were divided into 12 groups according to different surface treatments in combination with thermal aging procedures. Surface treatment methods were airborne-particle abrasion (abraded with 50 micron alumina particles), dry grinding (grinded with $125{\mu}m$ grain size bur), and hydrofluoric acid (9%) and silane application. According to the thermocycling procedure, the groups were assigned as non-thermocycled, thermocycled after packing composites, and thermocycled before packing composites. The average surface roughness of the non-thermocycled specimens were measured after surface treatments. After packing composites and thermocycling procedures, shear bond strength (SBS) of the specimens were tested. The results of surface roughness were statistically analyzed by 2-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and SBS results were statistically analyzed by 3-way ANOVA. RESULTS. Surface roughness of GC were significantly lower than that of LU and VE (P<.05). The highest surface roughness was observed for dry grinding group, followed by airborne particle abraded group (P<.05). Comparing the materials within the same surface treatment method revealed that untreated surfaces generally showed lower SBS values. The values of untreated LU specimens showed significantly different SBS values compared to those of other surface treatment groups (P<.05). CONCLUSION. SBS was affected by surface treatments. Thermocycling did not have any effect on the SBS of the materials except acid and silane applied GC specimens, which were subjected to thermocycling before packing of the composite resin.

  • On the basis of the Landsat TM scenes with 15 year's time differences, the topographic maps with 50 years differences, and the air photos with 25 years differences, we carried out the field survey for geology and forestry and analyzed the topographical change and the variation of the forest resource in Anmyundo. In terms of the discrimination of forest trees in Anmyumdo, the NDVI with larger than 0.5 in the winter season is the indicator of the surface of the pine tree land-cover. The peak values of NDVI appear on the surface of the pine aging 30 through 50 years and decrease a little and grossly stabilized over the more aging trees. The distinction of the deciduous forest and grass land from the pine tree was capable with the correlation with the abrupt seasonal variation of NDVI and the surface aspect. The great change of topography is detected in the region Changgiri due to the continuous tidal erosion since the canal construction about 370 years ago and along the all around coast of Anmyundo due to the reclamation for the paddy field. The surface area of the pine tree land-cover in Anmyundo was estimated 35.91 km$^2$ in 1986 and 33.15 km$^2$ in 1993, which is originated from the grassland development in the southeastern part of Anmyundo where the pine tree dominated by 1986. In the northen part of Anmyundo the surface area of the pine land-cover increased a little in 1993 comparing to 1986.

  • A plasma treatment using saturated $CF_4$ gas was employed to improve the resistance of polypropylene fabrics to water wetting. The fabrics were significantly fluorinated even within a short treatment time of 30 seconds. The result of contact angle measurement indicated that such highly hydrophobic surface was considerably durable even after 150 days of aging.

  • Tetragonal phase PZT ceramics with a tetragonality of c/a=1.027 to 1.041 were sintered at 1275$^{\circ}C$ for one hour. And the directionality of domain arrangement, microstructure, dielectric and aging properties were investigated. With increasing tetragonality, the directionality of domain arrangement of 180$^{\circ}$-domain on the surface is smaller than that in the internal part of specimens. Dielectric constants after poling are increased due to the increased internal energy or decreased due to the microcracks created by poling.

  • Currently, rail surface defects are increasing due to the aging of urban railway rails, but in the detailed guidelines for track performance evaluation established by the country, rail surface damage is inspected with the naked eye of an engineer and with simple measuring tools. It is very important to discover defects in the rail surface through periodic track tours and visual inspection. However, evaluating the severity of defects on the rail surface based on the subjective judgment of the inspector has significant limitations in predicting damage inside the rail. In this study, the characteristics of cracks inside the rail due to rail surface damage were studied. In field measurements, rail surface damage was selected, old rail samples were collected in the acceleration and braking sections, and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to evaluate the rail surface damage was used to analyze the crack characteristics. As a result of the analysis, the crack mechanism caused by the running train and the crack characteristics of the acceleration section where cracks occur at an angle rising toward the rail surface were experimentally proven.
