  • The objective of this study is to examine the nonlinear fluid characteristics near and inside a moonpool in various sea conditions. We estimate the flow of the free surface in a moonpool taking into account the viscosity effect and the hydrodynamic forces that affects a moonpool and hull through CFD calculations. The comparison of horizontal forces per wave length shows that the hydrodynamic force is greater for the long wave length than short wave length, and the greatest hydrodynamic force acts on the moonpool when the wave length is equal to the ship's length. The horizontal force decreases as the wave amplitude decreases, and the hydrodynamic force acting on the moonpool in ${\lambda}=LBP$ is 10 times that in ${\lambda}=LBP/3$. The free surface demonstrates the piston mode, in which it oscillates up and down while remaining essentially flat, and the rise of the free surface level increases as the wave length increases. We can assume that the hydrodynamic force acting on the moonpool increases owing to the effect of a strong vortex for ${\lambda}=LBP$ and owing to the rise of the free surface level for ${\lambda}=LBP{\times}2$.

Research design and methodology - In order to achieve the current study's goal, sample was extracted targeting cooks working in 5-stars hotels located in Seoul considering spatial and time limitation. Method of research was direct research method with survey. Survey was conducted from April 1st, 2018 to April 20, 2018 (approximately 20 days). Total of 300 surveys were distributed to cooks working in 5-stars hotels located in Seoul, and among those 250 surveys were returned. Among returned 250 surveys, 246 surveys. Results - First, in order to test H1, effect of hotel restaurant cook's emotional labor on job satisfaction (satisfaction on superior and coworker) was analyzed. Second, in order to test H2, effect on hotel restaurant cook's emotional labor on job satisfaction (satisfaction on compensation and promotion) was analyzed. Third, satisfaction on superior and coworker had statistically significantly positive effect on customer orientation, while satisfaction on compensation and promotion did not have statistically significant effect. Conclusions - First, deep acting had statistically significantly positive effect on job satisfaction (satisfaction on superior and coworker), while surface acting did not have statistically significant effect. Second, both deep and surface acting had statistically significantly positive effect on job satisfaction (satisfaction on compensation and promotion). Third, satisfaction on superior and coworker had statistically significantly positive effect on customer orientation, while satisfaction on compensation and promotion did not have statistically significant effect.

  • Submerged breakwaters can be installed underneath floating structures to reduce the external wave loads acting on the structure. The objective of this study was to establish an optimization analysis framework to determine the corresponding shape and position of the submerged breakwater that can minimize or maximize the external forces acting on the floating structure. A two-dimensional frequency-domain boundary element method (FD-BEM) based on the linear potential theory was developed to perform the hydrodynamic analysis. A metaheuristic algorithm, the advanced particle swarm optimization, was newly coupled to the FD-BEM to perform the optimization analysis. The optimization analysis process was performed by calling FD-BEM for each generation, performing a numerical analysis of the design variables of each particle, and updating the design variables using the collected results. The results of the optimization analysis showed that the height of the submerged breakwater has a significant effect on the surface piercing body and that there is a specific area and position with an optimal value. In this study, the optimal values of the shape and position of a single submerged breakwater were determined and analyzed so that the external force acting on a surface piercing body was minimum or maximum.

  • Stance is defined as any state in which the total mass of the body is supported by the feet. In order to maintain stance, the sum of gravito-inertial forces acting on the body must be registered by equal and opposite forces at the region of contact between the organism and the support surface. Balance is controlled by applying forces to the surface of support so as to maintain the body's center of mass vertically above the feet. for a muIti-segment organism, there can be a variety of ways in which balance can be controlled, since movements of different body segments can have similar effects on the control of balance. In general, the organism tends to have a body configuration that is aligned with gravito-inertial force when there are no external forces acting on it. If any segments of the body are not aligned with gravito-inertial force vector, a torque on that segment would tend to move the body's center of mass. The maintenance of postural stability is accomplished in humans by a complex neural control system. This requires organizing integrating and acting upon visual, vestibular, and somatosensory input, providing orientation information to the postural control system. The information necessary to control and coordinate movement is provided by the visual sense of eye position with respect to the surrounding surface layout, the vestibular sense of head orientation in the gravito-inertial space, and the somatic sense of body segment position relative to one another and to the support surface. In this study, perception and action capability was examined from various points of view. The underlying assumption of the study was that the change of postural configuration could be effected by organism, environment and task goal.

  • Concentric-Circle-Grating (CCG) cavity is analyzed by coupled mode theory. In this case concentric grating is acting as both feedback element and output coupler. In our calculations radiation loss terms are included in guided coupled mode equations. The surface-emitted field distribution is obtained in self-consistent manner.

  • Impact forces are acting on the fore part of a body entering water and those are function o the shape of the fore part and entrance angle. In this paper, impact forces are computed for the flat faced body with arbitrary entrance angle The geometric characteristics of the wetted surface of the body are complicated. The surface is divided into several smooth parts and each of them is represented by a bi-cubic B-spline. The free surface condition, $\phi=0$, is applied at the undisturbed free surface and he boundary value problem is analized by using Green's function.

  • Direct-acting solenoid valves are used in the automotive industry due to their simple structure and quick response in controlling the flow of fluid. We performed an optimization study of response time in order to improve the dynamic performance of a direct-acting solenoid valve. For the optimal design process, we used the commercial optimization software PIAnO, which provides various tools for efficient optimization including design of experiments (DOE), approximation techniques, and a design optimization algorithm. 35 sampling points of computational experiments are performed to find the optimum values of the design variables. In all cases, ANSYS Maxwell electromagnetic analysis software was used to model the electromagnetic dynamics. An approximate model generated from the electromagnetic analysis was estimated and used for the optimization. The best optimization model was selected using the verified approximation model called the Kriging model, and an optimization algorithm called the progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM).

  • The drift force acting on a floating OWC chamber in waves is studied taking account of fluctuating air pressure in the air chamber. A velocity potential in the water due to the free surface oscillating pressure patch is added to the conventional radiation-diffraction potential problem. The potential problem inside the chamber is formulated by making use of the Green integral equation associated with the Rankine Green function while the outer problem with the Kelvin Green function. The drift forces as well as the chamber motions are calculated taking account of the air pressure in the chamber.

  • The hydrodynamic lift and moment acting on the bodies of revolution with pointed-end were calculated by the surface discrete vortex method. It was found, by direct computation, that the lift normal to the on-coming flow can be generated by introducing the shed-vortex to the unless otherwise purely potential model. The value of the destabilizing moment, which is called Munk moment, is reduced by the shed-vortex model, resulting in better agreement with the existing experimental values.

  • Tubular coils are widely used in various electromagnetic applications. For the purpose to obtain the mechanical output power, one of the two sets of coil arrays, called drive, is generally fixed while the other, called sleeve or projectile, is not fixed and easy to move. Among the three force components acting on the coil arrays, the radial one used to affect as a stress on the surfiace of the sleeve, or a restoring force if it is off-centered. The system under transient state or intended pulsed input power is likely to have the worst condition in mechanical stress, and it is necessary to design the mechanical strength of the sleeve within the permanent deformation limit. This paper is focused on the presentation of analytic expressions for the stress on surface of the sleeve.
