SVM (Support vector machine) analysis was performed after applying a deep learning technique based on an Inception-based model (GoogLeNet). The accuracy of automatic image classification was analyzed using an SVM with multiple virtual grid sizes. Six classes were selected from a standard land cover map. Cars were added as a separate item to increase the classification accuracy of roads. The virtual grid size was 2-5 m for natural areas, 5-10 m for traffic areas, and 10-15 m for building areas, based on the size of items and the resolution of input images. The results demonstrate that automatic classification accuracy can be increased by adopting an integrated approach that utilizes weighted virtual grid sizes for different classes.

The weak point of the artificial neural network(ANN) is that it is easy to fall in local minima when it learns too much nonlinear data. Accordingly, the classification ratio must be low. To overcome this weakness, the hybrid method has been proposed. That is, the ANN learns data selectively after detecting the defect position by the support vector machine(SVM). First, the SVM has been used for determination of the defect position and then the magnitude of the defect has been measured by the ANN. In off-design condition, the operation region of the engine is wide and the nonlinearity of learning data increases. The module system, dividing the whole operating region into reasonably small-size sections, has been suggested to solve this problem. In this study, the proposed algorithm has diagnosed the defects of triple components as well as single and dual components of the gas turbine engine in off-design condition.
The prediction of the sum of container is very important in the field of container transport. Many influencing factors can affect the prediction results. These factors are usually composed of many variables, whose composition is often very complex. In this paper, we use gray relational analysis to set up a proper forecast index system for the prediction of the sum of containers in foreign trade. To address the issue of the low accuracy of the traditional prediction models and the problem of the difficulty of fully considering all the factors and other issues, this paper puts forward a prediction model which is combined with a back-propagation (BP) neural networks and the support vector machine (SVM). First, it gives the prediction with the data normalized by the BP neural network and generates a preliminary forecast data. Second, it employs SVM for the residual correction calculation for the results based on the preliminary data. The results of practical examples show that the overall relative error of the combined prediction model is no more than 1.5%, which is less than the relative error of the single prediction models. It is hoped that the research can provide a useful reference for the prediction of the sum of container and related studies.
We evaluate the performance of emotion recognition via speech signals when a plain speaker talks to an entertainment robot. For each frame of a speech utterance, we extract the frame-based features: pitch, energy, formant, band energies, mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs), and velocity/acceleration of pitch and MFCCs. For discriminative classifiers, a fixed-length utterance-based feature vector is computed from the statistics of the frame-based features. Using a speaker-independent database, we evaluate the performance of two promising classifiers: support vector machine (SVM) and hidden Markov model (HMM). For angry/bored/happy/neutral/sad emotion classification, the SVM and HMM classifiers yield $42.3\%\;and\;40.8\%$ accuracy, respectively. We show that the accuracy is significant compared to the performance by foreign human listeners.
We call "fruad" the cases that are not frequently occurring but cause significant losses. Fraud detection is commonly encountered in various applications, including wafer production in the semiconductor industry. It is not trivial to directly extend the standard binary classification methods to the fraud detection context because the misclassification cost is much higher than the normal class. In this article, we propose the functional fraud detection support vector machine (F2DSVM) that extends the fraud detection support vector machine (FDSVM) to handle functional covariates. The proposed method seeks a classifier for a function predictor that achieves optimal performance while achieving the desired sensitivity level. F2DSVM, like the conventional SVM, has piece-wise linear solution paths, allowing us to develop an efficient algorithm to recover entire solution paths, resulting in significantly improved computational efficiency. Finally, we apply the proposed F2DSVM to the defective wafer detection problem and assess its potential applicability.

In this study, emotion-classification gathered from users was performed, classification-experiments were then conducted using SVM(Support Vector Machine) and K-means algorithm. Total 15 numbers of channels; CP6, Cz, FC2, T7. PO4, AF3, CP1, CP2, C3, F3, FC6, C4, Oz, T8 and F8 among 32 members of the channels measured were adapted in Brain signals which indicated obvious the classification of emotions in previous researches. To extract emotion, watching DVD and IAPS(International Affective Picture System) which is a way to stimulate with photos were applied and SAM(Self-Assessment Manikin) was used in emotion-classification to users' emotional conditions. The collected users' Brain-wave signals gathered had been pre-processing using FIR filter and artifacts(eye-blink) were then deleted by ICA(independence component Analysis) using. The data pre-processing were conveyed into frequency analysis for feature extraction through FFT. At last, the experiment was conducted suing classification algorithm; Although, K-means extracted 70% of results, SVM showed better accuracy which extracted 71.85% of results. Then, the results of previous researches adapted SVM were comparatively analyzed.

Smartphone addiction has become more serious than internet addiction since people can download and run numerous applications with smartphones even without internet connection. However, smartphone addiction is not sufficiently dealt with in current studies. The S-scale method developed by Korea National Information Society Agency involves so many questions that respondents are likely to avoid the diagnosis itself. Moreover, since S-scale is determined by the total score of responded items without taking into account of demographic variables, it is difficult to get an accurate result. Therefore, in this paper, we have extracted important factors from all data, which affect smartphone addiction, including demographic variables. Then we classified the selected items with a neural network. The result of a comparative analysis with backpropagation learning algorithm and multiclass support vector machine shows that learning rate is slightly higher in multiclass SVM. Since multiclass SVM suggested in this paper is highly adaptable to rapid changes of data, we expect that it will lead to a more accurate self-diagnosis of smartphone addiction.

An ensemble classifier system is a widely-used multi-classifier system, which combines the results from each classifier and, as a result, achieves better classification result than any single classifier used. Several methods have been used to build an ensemble classifier including boosting, which is a cascade method where misclassified examples in previous stage are used to boost the performance in current stage. Boosting is, however, a serial method which does not form a complete feedback loop. In this paper, proposed is context sensitive SVM ensemble (CASE) which adopts SVM, one of the best classifiers in term of classification rate, as a basic classifier and clustering method to divide feature space into contexts. As CASE divides feature space and trains SVMs simultaneously, the result from one component can be applied to the other and CASE achieves better result than boosting. Experimental results prove the usefulness of the proposed method.

One of the main reasons for serious road accidents is driving while drowsy. For this reason, drowsiness detection and warning system for drivers has recently become a very important issue. Monitoring physiological signals provides the possibility of detecting features of drowsiness and fatigue of drivers. One of the effective signals is to measure electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and electrooculogram (EOG) signals. The aim of this study is to extract drowsiness-related features from a set of EEG signals and to classify the features into three states: alertness, drowsiness, sleepiness. This paper proposes a drowsiness detection system using Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) coefficients and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Samples of EEG data from each predefined state were used to train the SVM program by using the proposed feature extraction algorithms. The trained SVM program was tested on unclassified EEG data and subsequently reviewed according to manual classification. The classification rate of the proposed system is over 96.5% for only very small number of samples (250ms, 64 samples). Therefore, it can be applied to real driving incident situation that can occur for a split second.

It is important to prescribe and take medicines that are appropriate for symptoms, since medicines are closely related to human health and life. Moreover, it becomes more important to accurately classify genuine medicines with counterfeit, since the number of counterfeit increases worldwide. However, the number of high-quality experts who have enough experience to properly classify them is limited and there exists a need for the automatic technique to classify medicine tablets. In this paper, we propose a method to classify the tablets by using a handheld spectrometer which provides both Near Infra-Red (NIR) and visible light spectrums. We adopted Support Vector Machine(SVM) as a machine learning algorithm for tablet classification. As a result of the simulation, we could obtain the classification accuracy of 99.9 % on average by using both NIR and visible light spectrums. Also, we proposed a two-step SVM approach to discriminate the counterfeit tablets from the genuine ones. This method could improve both the accuracy and the processing time.
