  • A damage estimation method for monopile support structure of offshore wind turbine using modal properties and committee of neural networks is presented for effective structural health monitoring. An analytical model for a monopile support structure is established, and the natural frequencies, mode shapes, and mode shape slopes for the support structure are calculated considering soil condition and added mass. The input to the neural networks consists of the modal properties and the output is composed of the stiffness indices of the support structure. Multiple neural networks are constructed and each individual network is trained independently with different initial synaptic weights. Then, the estimated stiffness indices from different neural networks are averaged. Ten damage cases are estimated using the proposed method, and the identified damage locations and severities agree reasonably well with the exact values. The accuracy of the estimation can be improved by applying the committee of neural networks which is a statistical approach averaging the damage indices in the functional space.

  • In this study, we developed an evaporation-driven self-assembly coating method for an ceramic intermediate layer on an ultrapermeable -Al2O3 support with large pore size of ~1.5 ㎛. The method led to the formation of a ceramic intermediate layer with higher surface homogeneity and less surface roughness than the conventional dip-coating method. A mesoporous -Al2O3 layer was deposited on the support to evaluate support quality. A supported -Al2O3 membrane was defect-free even without repeated coating. Furthermore, the membrane showed 2.3 times higher nitrogen permeance than one prepared on a macroporous support with pore size range of 100~200 nm, which is widely used for ceramic membrane coating.

  • This paper proposes a tip-over detection method for a mobile robot using a support inscribed circle defined as an inscribed circle of a support polygon. A support polygon defined by the contact points between the robot and the terrain is often used to analyze the tip-over. For a robot moving on uneven terrain, if the intersection between the extended line of gravity from the robot's COG and the terrain is inside the support polygon, tip-over will not occur. On the contrary, if the intersection is outside, tip-over will occur. The terrain is detected by using an RGB-D sensor. The terrain is locally modeled as a plane, and thus the normal vector can be obtained at each point on the terrain. The support polygon and the terrain's normal vector are used to detect tip-over. However, tip-over cannot be detected in advance since the support polygon is determined depending on the orientation of the robot. Thus, the support polygon is approximated as its inscribed circle to detect the tip-over regardless of the robot's orientation. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the experiments are carried out using a 4-wheeled robot, ERP-42, with the Xtion RGB-D sensor.

  • The final goal of shift alignment design is that the bearing reaction forces or mean pressures are within design boundaries for various service conditions of a ship. However, it is found that calculated bearing load can be substantially variable according to the locations of the effective support points of after sterntube bearing which are determined by simple calculation or assumption suggested by classification societies. A new analysis method for shaft alignment calculation is introduced in order to resolve these problems. Key concept of the new method is featured by adopting both nonlinear elastic and multi-support elements to simulate a bearing support Hertz contact theory is basically applied for nonlinear elastic stiffness calculation instead of the projected area method suggested by most of classification societies. Three loading conditions according to the bearing offset and the hydrodynamic moment and twelve models according to the locations of the effective support points of sterntube bearings are prepared to carry out quantitative verifications for an actual shafting system of 8000 TEU class container vessel. It is found that there is relatively large difference between assumed and calculated effective support points.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze a relationship among the social support daily hassles and maladjustment of adolescents. Questionnare survey method was used in this research. The sample was taken from 434 mothers and their children in the middle school in Kwangju. Statistical methods used in this study were Frequency, Percentage Anova and Regression. The major findings are summarized as follows; 1. Daily hassles was found significantly different according to family support. 2. Maladjustment was found significantly different according to all social support subscales. 3. The variables signficantly affecting maladjustment were marital satisfaction of mother family support self-esteem support and daily hassles.

  • This research is experimental thesis to prepare the structural safety of the upper bridge for support type on tunnel and the effect of settlement. Unit weight test and uni-axial compression test have been performed to simulate the physical property of foundation on the tunnel. Tunnel model of slip form type for centrifuge model has been developed to performed the tunnel excavation while field stress is activated. And the support type of tunnel such as umbrella arch method and large diameter steel pipe reinforce method has been tested for the centrifuge model. After the analysis of experiment, results show that internal displacement of large diameter steel pipe reinforce method is smaller than that of the umbrella arch method.

  • Free vibration analysis for continuous bridge under any number of vehicles is conducted in this paper. Calculation strategy for natural frequency and mode shape is proposed based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and numerical assembly method. Firstly, a half-car planar model is adopted; equations of motion and displacement functions for bridge and vehicle are established, respectively. Secondly, the undermined coefficient matrices for wheels, vehicles, intermediate support, left-end support and right-end support are derived. Then, the numerical assembly technique for conventional finite element method is adopted to construct the overall matrix of coefficients for whole system. Finally, natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes are determined based on iterative method and overall matrix solution. Numerical simulation is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results reveal that the solutions of present method are exact ones. Natural frequencies and associate modal shapes of continuous bridge under different conditions of vehicles are investigated. The influences of vehicle parameters on natural frequencies are also demonstrated.

  • The large mass method for dynamic analysis of statically determinate beams subjected to in-phase support motions is justified by showing that the equation of motion of the beams under consideration is equivalent to that of large mass model of the beam when an appropriate large mass ratio is employed. The accuracy of the stress responses based on the beam large mass method is investigated through careful numerical tests. The numerical results are compared to analytic solutions and the comparison shows that the large mass method yields not only the time history of motion but also the distributions of bending moment and shear force accurately.

  • A force support system is composed of capital components such as combat equipments, supplies and so on to enable constant fighting power capability. Private technology level evaluation is on the rise as an important spin-on method in force support systems, which requires 92% of total munitions requirements, to obtain superior private technology. The evaluation of the private sector technology level on Korean force support systems has been conducted for the first time as follows: this research chose 38 items to be acquired within 2-3 years and grouped either identical or similar technology among those 38 items. A technology evaluating method was established based on the analysis of domestic and foreign technology level evaluations. Evaluation was performed by a Delphi survey from 180 private and military experts. To obtain an objective index and raise political availability, a technology system map and standard document were developed and applied to all 38 items.

  • This paper investigate relationship between job burnout, social support and knowledge creation, sharing. also, social support are moderate on the relationship between job burnout and knowledge creation, sharing. We build up main effect and moderating effect hypothesis. To test hypothesis, survey method are performed. The results are as follows. first, emotional exhaustion and low personal accomplishment have negative effects on knowledge creation, but haven't effect on knowledge sharing. second, social support significant positively impact on knowledge creation and sharing. third, both of supervisor' support and coworker's support partially moderate the relationship between job burnout and knowledge creation, sharing. especially, emotional exhaustion reduce supervisor' support to knowledge creation, sharing and low personal accomplishment reduce co-worker' support to knowledge sharing, which means although job burnout preceded, if employees perceived high level of social support that have buffering effects on the relationships.
