  • This study was designed to figure out the results of proceeding research, to establish the recipients and service contents, and to develop handbook for elderly-elderly care in the rural area. The results of the study were as follows: The recipients of services were contained to healthy elderly from troubles elderly, solitude elderly, and old couple in the community. The range of the services by elderly-elderly carer were moral support, everyday life support and outside activity support. The handbook listed four areas of services including first meeting and observing, mind care, everyday life care, and outside activity care, and then described contents of 47 situations. The handbook will be great help to the rural elderly if it is given to participants of elderly-elderly care program along with the hall for the aged. Further efforts should be made to reflect feedbacks from rural area, and to make series to bring elderly carer up to date consistently.

  • The main memory DBMS (MMDBMS) efficiently supports various database applications that require high performance since it employs main memory rather than disk as a primary storage. An index manager is an essential sub-component of a DBMS used to speed up the retrieval of objects from a large volume of a database in response to a certain search condition. Previous research efforts on indexing proposed various index structures. However, they hardly dealt with the practical issues occurred in implementing an index manager on a target DBMS. In this paper, we touch these issues and present our experiences in developing the index manager. The main issues are (1) compact representation of an index entry, (2) support of variable-length keys. (3) support of multiple-attribute keys, and (4) support of duplicated keys.

  • In this paper, face detection method in NIR(Near-InfraRed) images for human recognition is proposed. Edge histogram based on edge intensity and its direction, has been used to detect effectively faces on NIR image. The edge histogram descripts and discriminates face effectively because it is strong in environment of lighting change. SVM(Support Vector Machine) has been used as a classifier to detect face and the proposed method showed better performance with smaller features than in ULBP(Uniform Local Binary Pattern) based method.

  • e-Learning contents are composed of compounding multimedia data. It requires many professionals in contents development stage. The process of e-learning contents development can be seen as a collaborative work. In the perspective of a collaborative work process, the whole process of e-learning contents development would be regarded as collaborative work process for each participant as well as for whole group members. Most of collaborative works in contents development field are widely distributed. Members of work groups require workspaces for sharing information and communicating each other. In addition to workspaces, it also needs to support collaborative reflection such as planning for collaborative work and monitoring for work process. This paper is intended to develop the reflective collaborative work system for e-Learning contents development in order to support the systemic process of e-learning contents development. The reflective collaborative work system is composed of four supportive parts: work flow management, personal workspace, collaborative workspace, and collaborative reflection.

  • This study aims to develop the processed foods with chestnut and support their commercialization. Interview was performed with owner of Gongju chestnut food processing company and sensory evaluation was carried out by 103 male and female adults aged 20-70 using Likert 5 point scale-scoring test for chestnut processed food items developed. Nutrient contents of processed foods with chestnut were analyzed by Korea Food Research Institute. Commercialization support contents were high calorie low nutrition distinction, nutrition facts production and expiration date determination. We suggested 27 kinds of feasible chestnut processed foods. Among these, 10 items, chestnut pudding, chestnut glutinous rice cake bread, chestnut poundcake, chestnut burrito, chestnut millet pancake, chestnut soup, Yulpyeon, chestnut yakgwa, chestnut yeot, and chestnut yanggaeng were selected after consultants' assessment. Considering sensory evaluation, consultants' opinions, and company owners' opinion and status, chestnut poundcake and chestnut yakgwa were ultimately selected for commercialization support. Nutrient contents showed that chestnut pound cake and chestnut yakgwa were not high calorie low nutrition food. Expiration date was 10 days for chestnut pound cake and 6 months for chestnut yakgwa. By developing chestnut processed foods with high marketability, and supporting immediate commercialization, it is expected to increase high added value of chestnut.

  • Organ transplantation is currently the most fundamental treatment for organ failure, but there is a shortage of organ supply compared to those in need. Regenerative medicine has recently developed a decellularization technique that overcomes the limitations of conventional organ transplantation and attempts to reconstruct damaged tissues or organs to their normal state. Several decellularization methods have been suggested. In this experiment, the decellularization methods were used to find effective decellularization methods for humanlike porcine placenta. The optimal conditions for decellular support are low DNA content and high glycos amino glycans (GAGs) and collagen content. In order to satisfy this condition, SDS and Triton X-100 and SDS + Triton X-100 were used as the detergent used for decellularization in this experiment. The contents were compared according to the decellularization time (0, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours), and the concentrations of SDS (0.2, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0%) were mixed in 1.0% Triton X-100 to analyze the contents. When decellularized using SDS and Triton X-100, respectively, it was confirmed that the contents of DNA and GAGs were opposite to each other. And decellularization treatment for 24 hours at 0.5% SDS was able to obtain an effective decellular support. If decellularization studies of various detergents can be obtained an effective decellular support, and furthermore, cell culture experiments can confirm the effect on the cells.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of patient's psycological distress on social support in the view of patient's regulatory focus. Methods : For this study 300 questionnaires were distributed to medical institution, Busan from July 19 through August 4, 2010. The contents item divided the general characteristics, social support, psychological distress, and regulatory focus. The collected data were analyzed by t-test and multi-regression analysis. Results : The results show that patient's psychological distress is significantly influenced by physical therapist's emotional support and informational support. Also, there were difference with the effect of psychological distress on social supports in the physical therapists according to patient's regulatory focus. Conclusion : The instrumental support is more important to patient with promotion-focus than patient with prevention-focus. The implication of this research confirmed that physical therapist's social support plays important role in decreasing patient's psychological distress.

  • This study is a descriptive investigation into the relationship between the degree of the reality shock and the self-efficacy, social support, and ego-resilience of nursing students and the factors that influence their reality shock. The study shows that self-efficacy, social support, and ego-resilience are related with reality shock. The regression analysis shows that self-efficacy, social support, and ego-resilience account for 27.1% of the reality shock. The research results verify self-efficacy, social support, and ego-resilience as factors that influence reality shock. So, it is necessary to develop programs and explore support plans that take into account self-efficacy, social support, and ego-resilience with the aim of relieving the nursing students reality shock. Looking ahead, further studies need to be conducted with expanded objects of investigation with the aim of drawing more attention to the reality shock of nursing students and generalizing research results.
