Purpose - This study examines how consignment and Vendor-Managed Inventory perform as supply chain collaboration programs. By using three key collaborative features, this study defines the collaboration programs and develops theoretical models of different supply chain systems. Research design, data and methodology - This study conducts sophisticated analysis on the supply chain systems by applying simulation modeling based on time-phased operations. The simulation model represents a two-stage supply chain system where a supplier sells a single item to a buyer, and it incorporates various operations. Results - In general, the simulation outcomes support that more advanced collaboration programs outperform less advanced ones. The analysis on the simulation outcomes identifies the significant value of information sharing in both collaboration programs. The specific conditions where the particular collaboration system outperforms the others are recognized. Conclusions - The outcome of this study supports that the supply chain system can improve its performance by having more collaborative features. This study provides business practitioners with guidelines to identify the circumstances that the specific collaboration program can fully exploit its advantages.
The objective of supply chain planning is to satisfy the requirements for minimizing inventory costs, transportation costs, and lead times throughout the supply, production and distribution stage dispersed geographically. Therefore, the supply chain planning system should have functionalities to resolve complex optimization problems that have characteristics of multi-stage and multi-product. Ant the system should also support collaborative decision making among distributed business partners. In this study, we proposed a distributed architecture for the supply chain planning system. To do this, we analyzed functional requirements by using IDEF-0(ICAM Definition-0) methodology, defined required components, and designed each component by using object-oriented methodology. We implemented a prototype system based on CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) to show that the proposed distributed architecture based on component technology is feasible and can solve supply chain planning problem collaboratively.
In this study, the scope of previous logistics security were focused only on port and ship. Because of it now extends to the overall (export and import) supply chain areas and in regards with supply security programs in the international level, it reviewed supply chain security programs categorized them into 'ships and port security system', 'container screening system', 'logistics chain authorization system' which are expanded to be adopted in the international level. The major features of those programs are summarized as in building risk management system, providing information ahead, selectivity test and benefits to AEO authorized companies in the customs administration level. The government and companies which are to ensure supply chain security and trade facilitation in order to cope actively with international customs administrative atmosphere need to do the followings : First, they need to build an intra-government integrated supply chain security and make efforts to conclude AEO MRA in order to increase trade competitiveness among major trading countries. Second, they need to build supply chain risk management system in order to enhance management performance through overseas market and company level strategy to obtain and maintain AEO authorization in the company level.

A model is presented in this paper to provide understanding of the supply chain integration and supply chain information practices' impact on the manufacturing industries. The supply chain information practices play a crucial role in sharing information between the members of SC network. Thus, it is important to develop a comprehensive understanding of the differences and similarities among ISI and information management. It will allow firms to systematically evaluate and carefully choose the information strategy. The empirical findings of this research offer essential and interesting insights about what role SCI, supply chain information and Supply chain ISI play in determining Malaysia's financial performance. The theoretical gaps addressed in this study are of significant importance, since a little empirical evidence is available regarding system infrastructure and supply chain information management's effectiveness. This research provides further paths of exploring system infrastructure and information management, thereby defining the manufacturing industries' next step in SCM struggle i.e. modifying total integrated SC principle in other manufacturing firms. The Resource-based theory discovered organizational resources as an essential organizational success ingredient. Therefore, in order to recognize its potential value, internal resources, for instance, information system and management must be fully utilized.
The nuclear supply chain attack surface is a large, complex network of interconnected stakeholders and activities. The global economy has widened and deepened the supply chain, resulting in larger numbers of geographically dispersed locations and increased difficulty ensuring the authenticity and security of critical digital assets. Although the nuclear industry has made significant strides in securing facilities from cyber-attacks, the supply chain remains vulnerable. This paper discusses supply chain threats and vulnerabilities that are often overlooked in nuclear cyber supply chain risk analysis. A novel supply chain cyber-attack surface diagram is provided to assist with enumeration of risks and to examine the complex issues surrounding the requirements for securing hardware, firmware, software, and system information throughout the entire supply chain lifecycle. This supply chain cyber-attack surface diagram provides a dashboard that security practitioners and researchers can use to identify gaps in current cyber supply chain practices and develop new risk-informed, cyber supply chain tools and processes.
The supply chain not only includes the manufacturer and suppliers, but also transporters, warehouses, retailers, and customers themselves. Within each organization, such as manufacturer, the supply chain includes all functions involved in filling a customer request. these functions include, but are not limited to, new product development, marketing, operation, distribution, finance, and customer service. Lean Supply chain coordination improves if all supplier of chain take actions that together increase total supply chain profits. To design of Modularity by the grouping supplier, the proposed method is to develop the most appropriate production system models in the Supply Chain Management which is necessity of the times and its importance. The objects of this study is development of model and cost analysis to the modular production system in Lean SCM. Introduction of modular production system in Lean SCM is effective in reducing the cost in processing, manufacturing, inventory holding, ordering, etc.

This study addresses manufacturers' ability to influence their supply chain network in order to adapt to their competitive environment. From the perspective of a manufacture, the supply chain comprises a network of suppliers and customers, and is theoretically viewed as a complex adaptive system. This study considers the following questions: (1) How can adaptability of supply chain network be operationally defined? (2) How does adaptability of supply chain network lead to combinative capabilities? (3) What is the influence of adaptability of supply chain network on business performance? Drawing on literature streams in supply chain management, operations strategy, organizational change and learning, and complexity theory, this study develops and tests the constructs and operational measures of adaptability of supply chain network and model the nomological set of relationships among constructs that form the basis of our theory. This study then develops and tests a model describing the outcomes of adaptability of supply chain network and its influence on combinative capability and business performance. Empirical results of this study show that adaptability supply chain network directly and positively affects combinative capability. Further, this study finds that adaptability of supply chain network does not impact business performance directly, but rather is mediated through combinative capability, which provides the requisite variety for firms to survive and thrive in dynamic environments.
Purpose - Many researchers analyze VMI as a supply chain collaboration program to reveal its true value. Most of them focus on the dyadic relationship in two stage supply chain systems. This study examines the effect of VMI when it is applied to the different parts of three stage supply chain systems. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on three stage supply chain, this study compares three different systems including full VMI, partial VMI, and non-VMI by using mathematical models. The performances of three systems are compared with the numerical examples of the proposed supply chain models. Results - The numerical examples reveal that full VMI where the manufacturer controls inventories at all stages outperforms any other systems in terms of the system profit and enables all individual members to gain greater profits than non-VMI. Meanwhile, under partial VMI where VMI is implemented between the wholesaler and retailer, only these two members improve their performances and the manufacturer who does not belong to VMI makes less profit than even under non-VMI. This study also examines the impact of market size and profit margin on the system performance. Conclusions - The result of this study supports the common belief that VMI secures the best result when it is applied to the entire supply chain system. The additional findings from the numerical analysis are discussed.
Purpose: This study observes how the consignment performs over time and proposes the proper way to operate the consignment to bring its best benefit to the supply chain system. Research design, data, and methodology: The supply chain system is represented as the mathematical model where a manufacturer and a retailer trade one type of products to maximize their own profits. In the numerical examples of the proposed models, the consignment is compared with the fully coordinated system as well as the traditional system, and both advantages and limitations of the consignment are detected. Results: The consignment makes greater profit than the traditional system after a certain time period. The consignment is still outperformed by the fully coordinated system. The numerical examples also show that the performance of the consignment is sensitive to the consignment ratio. Conclusions: This study finds out that a certain time period must be spent until the consignment brings the benefit to the supply chain system. The numerical outcomes also imply that the consignment requires additional features to be a completely effective supply chain collaboration program. To obtain the best result from the consignment, the supply chain members are recommended to decide the appropriate consignment ratio by consent.
Purpose: This study intends to examine how VMI with consignment performs over time and find out its on-going impacts on the individual supply chain member's achievement. Research design, data, and methodology: This study formulates the mathematical model that represents two-stage supply chain system. By analyzing the numerical examples, this study compares VMI with consignment with the traditional system. Results: VMI with consignment eventually makes higher supply chain profit than the traditional system, even though it's early performance is poor. The influence of VMI with consignment on the performance of the supply chain member is distinct depending on the individual member and time. The consignment may not be helpful to increase the system profit, but it reduces the manufacturer's burden of costs. Conclusions: VMI with consignment improves the supply chain performance after all, and it still takes times until its benefit becomes fully realized. To be a successful collaboration program, VMI with consignment requires a carefully designed incentive scheme that provides the timely compensation to the individual supply chain members. This study also finds out that the consignment contract of this collaboration program plays a role of financially supporting the manufacturer at the early stage of its implementation.
