  • Recently, the construction and plan of super-tall building is attention link of new town development or urban core regeneration. Super-tall Buildings have many advantages and a lot of affects in urban contexts. Also, construction of super-tall building is will be able to social problem like urban core's decline, loss of openspace, incompatible urban scape, traffic congestion of urban core. But, compares to super-tall buildings affects in urban contexts, there was not extra ordinary study about super-tall building by the urban scale approaches. Therefore, need about study materplan planning of the site which is made to meet super-tall building and urban contexts. There are two main processes in this study. First, to analyze the factors affect to masterplan planning of the super-tall building's site. Through the analyzed factors, classify type of super-tall buildings and identify the type's state. Second, to classify and set the elements of masterplan planning factor in the site. • Sandwich structures are well known for their use in aircraft, naval and automobile industries due to their high strength resistance with light weight and high energy absorption capability. Sandwich beams with soft core are very common and simple structures that are employed in day to day general use appliances. Modeling and analysis of sandwich structures is not straight forward due to the interactions between core and face sheets. In this paper, formulation of Super Convergent finite elements for analysis of the sandwich beams with soft core based on Euler Bernoulli beam theory are presented. Two elements, Eul4d with 4 degrees of freedom assuming rigid core in transverse direction and Eul10d with 10 degrees of freedom assuming the flexible core were developed are presented. The formulation considers the top, bottom face sheets and core as separate entities and are coupled by beam kinematics. The performance of these elements are validated by results available in the published literature. Number of studies are performed using the formulated elements in static, free vibration and wave propagation analysis involving various boundary and loading conditions. The paper highlights the advantages of the elements developed over the traditional elements for modeling of sandwich beams and, in particular wave propagation analysis.

  • An efficient method based on analytic solutions is applied to solve anti-plane Mode III crack problems. The analytic technique developed earlier by the present authors for Laplace's equation in a simply-connected region is now extended to general Mode III crack problems. Unlike typical numerical methods which require fine meshing near crack tips, the present method divides the cracked bodies, typically non-convex or multiply-connected, into only a few super elements. In each super element, an element stiffness matrix, relating the series coefficients of the traction and displacement, is first formed. Then an assembly algorithm similar to that used in the finite elements, is first formed. Then an assembly algorithm similar to that used in the finite elements, is developed. A big advantage of the present method is that only the boundary conditions are to be satisfied in the solution procedure due to the use of analytic solutions. Several numerical results demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the present method.

  • Analysis of a framed structure for vertical vibration requires a lot of computational efforts because large number of degrees of freedom are generally involved in the dynamic responses. This paper presents an efficient modeling technique for vertical vibration utilizing substructuring technique and super elements. To simplify the modeling procedure each floor in a structure is modeled as a substructure. Only the vertical translational degrees of freedom are selected as master degrees of freedom in the inside of each substructure. At the substructure-column interface, horizontal and rotational degrees of freedom are also included considering the compatibility condition of slabs and columns. For further simplification, the repeated parts in a substructure are modeled as super elements, which reduces computation time required for the construction of system matrices in a substructure. Finally, the Guyan reduction technique is applied to enhance the efficiency of dynamic analysis. In numerical examples, the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated by comparing the response time histories and the analysis time.

  • In the present study, the preliminary results of a large-scale seismic response analysis of a super-high-rise steel frame considering soil-structure interaction are presented. A seismic response analysis under the excitation of the JR Takatori record of the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake is conducted. Precise meshes of a 31-story super-high-rise steel frame and a soil region, which are constructed completely of hexahedral elements, are generated and combined. The parallel large-scale simulation is performed using K computer, which is one of the fastest supercomputers in the world. The results are visualized using an offline rendering code implemented on K computer, and the feasibility of using a very fine mesh of solid elements is investigated. The computation performance of the analysis code on K computer is also presented.

  • The finite element linear buckling analysis of folded plate structures using adaptive h-refinement methods is presented in this paper. The variable-node flat shell element used in this study possesses the drilling D.O.F. which, in addition to improvement of the element behavior, permits an easy connection to other elements with six degrees of freedom per node. The Box-typed structures can be analyzed using these developed flat shell elements. By introducing the variable node elements some difficulties associated with connecting the different layer patterns, which are common in the adaptive h-refinement on quadrilateral mesh, can be overcome. To obtain better stress field for the error estimation, the super-convergent patch recovery is used. The convergent buckling modes and the critical loads associated with these modes can be obtained.

  • The sectional forming analysis considering bending effects from the geometrically deformed shape of two linear membrane finite elements(called super element) was performed under plane strain assumption for analyzing forming processes of an arbitrarily shaped draw-die. For the evaluation of bending effects, the bending equivalent forces are calculated from the bending moment computed using the changes in the interior angle at the middle node of super element, and are agumented to the membrane stretch forces. In order to verify the validity of the bending formulation, the simulation results for the stretch, draw, and bend sections were compared with membrane analysis results and measurements.

  • Flat slab system has been adopted in many buildings constructed recently because of the advantage of reduced floor heights to meet the economical and architectural demands. Structural engineers commonly use the equivalent frame method(EFM) with equivalent beams proposed by Jacob S. Grossman in practical engineering for the analysis of flat slab structures. However, in many cases, when it is difficult to use the EFM, it is necessary to use a refined finite element model for an accurate analysis. But it would take significant amount of computational time and memory if the entire building structure were subdivided into a finer mesh. An efficient analytical method is proposed in this study to obtain accurate results in significantly reduced computational time. The proposed method employs super elements developed using the matrix condensation technique and fictitious beams are used in the development of super elements to enforce the compatibility at the interfaces of super elements. The stiffness degradation of flat slab system considered in the EFM was taken into account by reducing the elastic modulus of floor slabs in this study. Static and dynamic analyses of example structures were peformed and the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method were verified by comparing the results with those of the refined finite element model and the EFM.

  • For the seismic analysis of typical roadway bridges provisions are given in most codes for analysis models, which describes however only fundamental modelling methods according to the basic theories of structural dynamics. In practice even conventional non-seismic analysis models, separate super- and substructure models, are applied, which are not adequate because of neglecting connection elements. In this study three typical roadway bridges, a Steel box bridge, a PC beam bridge and a PC box bridge are selected and simple models integrating super- and substructure as well as connection elements are given. The simple models are composed with frame elements with lumped masses representing stiffness and mass characteristics of the selected bridges. To check the properness of the simple models, analysis results with the simple models are compared with those obtained with detailed models in view of bridge failure mechanisms. It is proved that the simple models can be used in the preliminary design phase fur the determination of failure mechanisms of typical roadway bridges.

  • In this paper, we decribed the basic elements required for the practical usage of super flowing concrete. The flowability and filingability of fresh concrete was measured by using six different testing methods. Also, two actual size members were used for investigating characteristics of the hardened concrete through variious experiments. As the result of the experimentation, the developed super flowing concrete shown high flowability and fillingability good enough for the requirement. Furthermore, inner uniformity of the no-vibrated concrete was verified by testing distribution of aggregates and core cylinders. Therefore, quality control and workability of concrete can be secured by using the super flowing concrete even without vibrating However, it ha been felt that development of easy evaluation methods for the super flowing concrete is in need.
