X-ray magnetic-circular-dichroism (MCD) spectra, orbital ($$) and spin magnetic moments ($$) for Co(110) monolayers a free standing mode or sandwiched between Pd(Pd/1Co/Pd)and Cu layers (Cu/1Co/Cu) are calculated using the thin film full potential linearized augmented plane wave energy band method. In contrast to the double peak structure predicted for the Co(0001) surface, only a minor side peak is found in the MCD spectra for Cu/Co/Cu, while MCD spectra for the other systems show a single peak structure. The MCD sum rules originally derived from a single ion model are found in the band approach to be valid for the systems investigated. However, for the spin sum rule, the magnetic dipole term ($$) is not negligible and needs to be included.

A fuzzy rule-based hand-motion estimation algorithm is proposed for a 6 dimensional spatial tracker in which low cost accelerometers and gyros are employed. To be specific, beginning and stopping of hand motions needs to be accurately detected to initiate and terminate integration process to get position and pose of the hand from accelerometer and gyro signals, since errors due to noise and/or hand-shaking motions accumulated by integration processes. Fuzzy rules of yes or no of hand-motion-detection are here proposed for rules of accelerometer signals, and sum of derivatives of accelerometer and gyro signals. Several experimental results and shown to validate our proposed algorithms.

The Schensted algorithm first described by Robinson [5] is a remarkable combinatorial correspondence associated with the theory of symmetric functions. $Sch{\ddot{u}}tzenberger's$ jeu de taquin[10] can be used to give alternative descriptions of both P- and Q-tableaux of the Schensted algorithm as well as the ordinary and dual Knuth relations. In this paper we describe the jeu de taquin on shifted rim hook tableaux using the switching rule, which shows that the sum of the weights of the shifted rim hook tableaux of a given shape and content does not depend on the order of the content if content parts are all odd.

Consider the problem of estimating a $p{\times}1$ mean vector $\theta(p\geq4)$ under the quadratic loss, based on a sample $X_1$, $X_2$, $\cdots$, $X_n$. We find a Lindley type decision rule which shrinks the usual one toward the mean of observations when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm $\parallel\;{\theta}-\bar{{\theta}}1\;{\parallel}$ is restricted to a known interval, where $bar{{\theta}}=\frac{1}{p}\;\sum\limits_{i=1}^{p}{\theta}_i$ and 1 is the column vector of ones. In this case, we characterize a minimal complete class within the class of Lindley type decision rules. We also characterize the subclass of Lindley type decision rules that dominate the sample mean.

The paper is devoted to some flow shop scheduling problems, where job processing times are defined by functions dependent on their positions in the schedule. An example is constructed to show that the classical Johnson's rule is not the optimal solution for two different models of the two-machine flow shop scheduling to minimize makespan. In order to solve the makespan minimization problem in the two-machine flow shop scheduling, we suggest Johnson's rule as a heuristic algorithm, for which the worst-case bound is calculated. We find polynomial time solutions to some special cases of the considered problems for the following optimization criteria: the weighted sum of completion times and maximum lateness. Some furthermore extensions of the problems are also shown.

음성 인식에서의 dynamic time warp (DTW)은 반복적 계산을 필요로 하며, 이 계산을 수행하기에 합당한 PE cell의 설계는 매우 중요하다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 실시간 어휘 인식을 가능하게 하는 대사전 규모의 대어휘 고립단어인식용 DTW알고리즘을 하드웨어로 구현하기위한 PE(Processing Element)소자의 설계에 주안점을 두었다. 이 DTW용 PE 소자를 크게 세가지의 블록으로 대별된다. 즉, “MIN" block, "ADD" block 그리고 ”ABS" block인데, “MIN"은 축적 최소거리를 계산하기 위한 블록이고, ”ADD"는 이들 최소거리들의 합을 계산하는 블록, 그리고 “ABS"는 이러한 합에 의한 국부거리를 절대값을 구하기 위한 블록이다. 본 연구에서는 이들 세가지 전체 블록회로의 설계 및 검증을 행하였으며, 1.2 m CMOS N-well 설계 규칙에 EK라 전체블록에 대한 레이아웃을 행한 후 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다.에 대한 레이아웃을 행한 후 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다.

The commonly used seismic design procedures to evaluate the maximum effect of both horizontal components of earthquakes, namely, the Square Root of the Sum of the Squares (SRSS) and the 30-percent (30%) combination rules, are re-evaluated. The maximum seismic responses of four three-dimensional moment resisting steel frames, in terms of the total base shear and the axial loads at interior, lateral and corner columns, are estimated as realistically as possible by simultaneously applying both horizontal components. Then, the abovementioned combination rules and others are evaluated. The numerical study indicates that both, the SRSS rule and the 30% combination method, may underestimate the combined effect. It is observed that the underestimation is more for the SRSS than for the 30% rule. In addition, the underestimation is more for inelastic analysis than for elastic analysis. The underestimation cannot be correlated with the height of the frames or the predominant period of the earthquakes. A basic probabilistic study is performed in order to estimate the accuracy of the 30% rule in the evaluation of the combined effect. Based on the results obtained in this study, it is concluded that the design requirements for the combined effect of the horizontal components, as outlined in some code-specified seismic design procedures, need to be modified. New combination ways are suggested.

음성 인식에 있어서 계산 속도를 보다 빠르게 하기 위한 여러 방법중에 systolic array를 이용하여 multiple processign하는 방법이 있다. 이러한 systolic array의 각 연산은 pipeline 방식으로 수행되며, 이 연산은 Processing Element(PE)로 multiprocessing되어 계산 효율을 증대시키게 된다. 이 DTW용 PE cell은 크게 세가지의 블록으로 대별된다. 즉 MIN block, ADD block 그리고 ABS block인데, 본 연구에서는 이들 세가지 블록중 "ADD"와 "ABS" 대한 회로설계및 검증을 행하였으며, 3$\mu$m CMOS N-well 설계 규칙에 따라 두 블록에 대한 각각의 레이아웃과 전체 레이아웃을 설계한 후 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다. 설계 규칙 검사(DRC)를 마쳤다.

This paper is concerned with the optimal replacement policy of auto-scale with increasing error-variance. This optimization model is to minimize the sum of the cost of defective and excess weight allowance for a target value. The numerical example for the proposed problem is solved by Golden-Section Search and Simpsons's rule.
