A NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE FIRE EMERGENCY IN THE UNDERGROUND STATION WITH TRACKWAY EXHAUST SYSTEM (TES) (선로부 TES를 갖는 지하철 역사내 화재의 수치 해석)

  • In the present study, a numerical simulation of the subway carriage fire is performed to determine the more effective operation of Trackway Exhaust System(TES) in underground stations. The four types of possible TES operation (OSUS, OSUE, OEUS and OEUE) is simulated and compared their removal capability of smoke and hot temperature for the carriage fire of 2MW. From the results, the distribution of temperature and smoke concentration is more dependent on the operation of fans located at upper side of the platform than those at lower side. It is also found from the results that for more efficient smoke control, the fans at upper side of the platform should be operated as an exhaust system. Whereas the fans at lower side can be operated as a supply system to aid upper exhaust fans.

  • This paper presents an integrated fault diagnosis expert system for power systems. The proposed system diagnoses various faults occurred in both substations and transmission lines even in the case that substation fault is spreaded over the network. To cope with this problem, A meta-inference method is proposed. This scheme shares same the data structure with the pre-developed intelligent operational aid expert system installed in a practical sub-control center, without modification. This advanced integrated diagnosis system is developed using a low cost personal computer owing to the special modular programming technique. Case studies show a promising possibility of the proposed method.

  • Presently metro in our country has higher rate of passengers as a public transportation of urban area than other transportations. And road is under very restrictive condition to be expanded in many aspects because the streets are completely choked. Therefore increase of capacity in metro and reduction of headway has been seriously required and utmost efforts has been taken by related fields to meet the requirements.   • SMSC(Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation) is substantially taking the core role of mass transit system in Seoul Metropolitan area. When it was built, the design had challenged to sharp curved tracks less than 250m radius considering the protection of buildings and cultural properties as well as the connection to ground roads. Such circumstances have required a certain extent of slack in track geometry and therefore led to the construction of ballasted track with wooden sleepers. However, the dynamic force from running on sharp curved track has caused the misalignment and abnormal failure of track geometry, and it has resulted in a frequent maintenance and repair works which require a lot of cost and manpower. In this paper, we present the construction case of maintenance-free track system by using of concrete sleeper and elastic rail fastening system to ensure the safety of both passengers and trains, and to contribute the effective maintenance for track facilities of SMSC.

  • Light Rail Transit(LRT) Systems with transport capacity between subway and bus(5,000-25,000 persons per hour) are being carried on over 100 lines around the world. In Korea, to solve the urban transportation problem, the introduction of LRT system has been proceeded positively. It is planned to develop the Korean standard LRT system in which safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness are emphasized. So we were able to make proto type of Rubber tired AGT system for LRT. This is capable of driverless operation using CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) of Moving Block System and is currently making an experiment for reliability in test-line. This study is focused on verifving the train tracking with CBTC in driverless and ATO mode through implementing the examination.

  • Metro Subway System is widely known as the leader of public transportation in a metropolitan area. The signal interlocking is one of the most important organs that plays a major role in the system. By improving the quality of signal lights on the traffic system and keeping its maintenance on a high level will not only repair the current state, but it will also let the LED type signal semi-permanent. The device, which underwent a process of fine manufacture establishment and a close examination, obtained a patented article (2004, as a new device). Utilizing the equipment with cautious preservation on the system will enhance the current state of the signal device. Especially, the test for improvement and development based upon the technique that decreases the frequency of defect produced will further precipitate its efficiency. With authorization of imposing the LED lights on production, installment, and investigation of the system, the newly made equipment will bring improvement to the signal technology and to the industry at largest extent.

  • Since Daegu subway station fire killed 192 citizens in 2003, the demands about safety MRT operation has been increased. Also, the studies and patents for MRT Surveillance are increasing. The related law and system are improving, too. This study suggests the solution for digital surveillance system that has the functions for restricted zone surveillance, the harmful gas and fire surveillance and abnormal behavior surveillance by comparing and analyzing the surveillance systems of advanced countries (United states, Hongkong, Japan etc). Then, we suggest UMS(Unified Message Service) system and image storing system for effective report and management.

  • In this paper, smart door-lock system to access public facilities will be proposed. An existed door-lock system using physical door-lock, NFC Tag, and RFID could be replaced by our proposed system. Automatic access control management system with security authentication module enables the worker to access public facilities efficiently.

  • Urban Transit Train Radio is Radio Communication system that is used official business as leading motive for train safety running among the train crew and the central control center and drive-caring-chamber on main line and branch line. This system is operated that organizes talking path on handset of terminal after the train crew receives audio and understands call voice on speaker of terminal at calling the train of the central control center. When the central control center calls the specific train uses all call radio form, the train crew doesn't recognize the call cause the train situation, noise and action as train control. So there is a delay response cause reset call at the central control center. This research discusses the management of subway radio system and describes the call the train system that recognize train call number of all-call used between the central control center and the train crew.

  • With the development of the technology, the usage of the car has been increased to the allowed limit of the road and has caused global warming and air pollution. Subway is good transit system with punctuality, safety and eco-friendliness, but it needs relatively much money for construction considering the needs of transit. So it is hard to balance the finance. Many developed countries have adopted advanced transit system including tram for the linking small and medium sized cities after 1980s, due to the relatively low construction cost. This paper reviews the way to increase the role of tram which is planed to be introduced to the local governments as a kind of Advanced transit system.
