  • A study on the insulation aging assessment and maintenance for submarine medium voltage power cable systems has been performed The purpose of this work is the economic discrimination and maintenance of bad cables which is likely to cause cable system failure. 1 have found that aging status of submarine cable systems are very poor and in progress. Therefore, we have the replacement of cable terminations and repeat the diagnostic measurement Insulation status were improved with the replacement of cable terminations. I have confirmed, with the electrical md structural analysis of terminations, that the poor aging status of cables are mainly caused not by the cable insulations but by the aging of cable terminations. From the above results, I have also confirmed that the domestic diagnostic system is successful and convenient for the discrimination and maintenance of the damaged cables economically.

  • This paper performs TDR real test for measurement of propagation velocity on #1 Pole of HVDC submarine cable section between Jeju and Haenam, and then measured velocity is compared with theoretical value and velocity provided from manufacturer. The measured velocity is also validated from theoretical process based on CIGRE simplified approach. In this paper, the fault location algorithm using multi-scale correlation of SWT(stationary wavelet transform) and travelling wave is additionally proposed for HVDC submarine cable system, it includes fault signal filter for noise cancellation. Finally, the measured velocity is validated from proposed fault location algorithm test once more.

  • The optical submarine cable has a long distance cable and the repeater for optical amplification compared to territorial optical cable so conventional OTDR utilization for the optical submarine cable is limited. in case the optical core in the optical submarine cable system cut, by using Coherent OTDR that utilize OTDR path in repeater the cable fault point can be detected and in case the faulty of the copper tube in the cable that provide power for the repeater to amplify optical signal, the ways using the current/voltage characteristic, the capacitance per Km and so on is required. this report suggest efficient fault location detecting mechanism by categorized cable fault type.

  • An offshore(submarine) cable has been used for more than a century, however it has been used mainly for communication or power supply to near-shore island. Therefore, offshore cable has not been got more attention than other types of cable and the related standards have also not been established well. However wind farms have been shifting from land to offshore because of better wind condition. Consequently, it has been pushing up demand for offshore cable. Hence, this paper introduces the trend of offshore cable industry and related standards or recommendations only focusing on offshore wind farm. In details, the installed offshore cables in offshore wind farms, the main offshore cable makers and up to date technologies are covered. In addition, the related standards or recommendations are also analyzed and compared each other.

  • KEPCO has been operating since March 1998 a HVDC link between Cheju Island and the mainland that it constructed to save high generation cost & ensure the system stability and the supply of electric power of Cheju island (approximately 100km from south of mainland). The purpose of this study is to consider the complete maintenance of the HVDC Submarine Cable after its construction in 1997 while proposing future direction for the stable operation of the HVDC Submarine Cable.

  • In this Paper, slack is computed from a comparision of the cable pay out rate and the ship ground speed in accordance with laying conditions, and the speed controller of the cable engine based on an $H^{\infty}$ servo control is designed for adjusting the cable engine in order to lay a desired amount of slack. The controller is designed to have the robust tracking property of the cable engine under disturbances. The performance of the designed controller is evaluated by computer simulation, and, consequently, a feasibility study for laying the submarine cable stably is done through analyzing simulation results.

  • When establishing the submarine optical fiber table between international and domestic, marine survey in advance it grasps the submarine geological features which is accurate and a depth of water condition. And the route which is safe for selecting and submarine optical fiber cable laying it is a work which secures an ease one location. If also, the PLGR the submarine of optical fiber table root the sea contamination material (rope, wire and net) it removes in advance and if the submarine of the optical fiber cable ease it does to arrive safely. And it is a work the Plough and ROV laying work hour laying work efficiency improvement and laying equipment it will be able to protect. So, This paper presents the monitoring system of ship information management and operation for marine survey and PLGR work in submarine optical fiber table construction enterprise. In order to achieve these purpose, overall serial multi-port communication modulo of configuration, realtime processing for management and operation of receiving data, realtime graph and a printout are described.

  • Offshore wind power is increasingly regarded as a viable solution for reducing greenhous emissions due to the construction of wind farms and their superior power generation efficiency. Submarine power cables play a crucial role in transmitting the electricity generated offshore to land. To monitor cables and identify points of failure, analyzing the location or depth of burial of submarine cables is necessary. This study reviewed the technology and research for detecting submarine power cables, which were categorized into seismic/acoustic, electromagnetic, and magnetic exploration. Seismic/acoustic waves are primarily used for detecting submarine power cables by installing equipment on ships. Electromagnetic and magnetic exploration detects cables by installing equipment on unmanned underwater vehicles, including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and remotely operated vihicles (ROV). This study serves as a foundational resource in the field of submarine power cable detection.

This PLGR is work to ease the cable lay safely in seabed, improve the performance of Plough and ROV (Remotely-Operated Vehicle) laying work, and protect laying equipment. This paper presents the design and implementation of real-time monitoring system for PLGR work in submarine optical fiber cable construction enterprise. In this paper, we designe overall real-time monitoring system. For this purpose, the modules such as serial multiport communication module, real-time processing module, environment configuration module, real-time graph and a printout modules are designed and implemented. For the validity evaluation of this paper, serial multi port communication module, data parsing, realtime graph output are implemented and tested.
