  • Purpose: As the interest and demand for esthetics grow up with medical development, the number of patients who want to correct dentofacial deformities by orthognathic surgery has increased. And the success of orthognathic surgery is dependent upon satisfaction of patients in great measure. Therefore the purpose of this study is to examine functional disability, sensory disturbance and esthetic satisfaction of the patients after orthognathic surgery. Material and methods: Among 89 patients who orthognathic surgery was performed at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital during the period from July 2003 to July 2008, 46 patients were considered in the study. Patients were surveyed with questionnaires and visual analogue scale(VAS) which author has designed. The analysis and comparison were performed according to gender, follow up span, and type of surgery based on answer of questionnaires. Results and conclusions: Total satisfaction rate was 76%. And there was statistical significant difference between subjective evaluation of facial esthetics before the surgery and that of after surgery(p<0.05). Differences in occurrence of functional disability, sensory disturbance between groups were not observed. In conclusion, the operator should understand the postoperative self-satisfaction of the patients and complications. If we can communicate with the patients before operation. patients' satisfaction rate will increase after operation.

  • This study analyzed the 2019 Community Health Survey data to compare and analyze the health levels and life satisfaction of single-person elderly households based on food security. The final study subjects were 15,606 single-person elderly individuals aged 65 and above. These subjects were classified based on their response to food security into three groups: food sufficient-diverse, food sufficient-not diverse, and food insufficient. The study results showed that the proportion of the food insufficient group among single-person elderly households was 7.4% for men and 10.6% for women, with a slightly higher rate for female elderly. Both male and female elderly over 80 years of age, with low education levels, and basic living support recipients showed significantly higher proportions in the sufficient-not diverse and food insufficient groups. For male elderly, significant differences were observed in subjective health status and oral health level in the food insufficient group, and for female elderly, stress levels also showed significant differences. Life satisfaction scores were generally lower for female elderly compared to male, and significant differences were found in both male and female elderly based on food security. Common factors that significantly influence life satisfaction among single-person elderly households, both male and female, include food security, subjective health status, and living environment satisfaction, with food security being the most impactful factor. The study suggests that it is necessary to include these significant factors in the development of various social activity programs, such as dietary programs, to enhance life satisfaction and food security of single-person elderly households.

In order to achieve this research objective, adults aged 20 or older participating in equestrian clubs in Seoul, Jeolla-do, and Gyeonggi regions in 2022 were selected as the population. The sampling method used cluster random sampling, and a total of 250 people, 180 males and 120 females, were sampled. The survey tool was modified and supplemented for this study based on a questionnaire whose reliability and validity were verified in previous studies, and all questionnaire questions were structured on a 5-point scale. For data analysis, SPSS Windows 21.0 Version was used to perform statistical processing according to the purpose of analysis. The conclusions obtained in this study through data analysis according to these methods and procedures are as follows. First, the motivation to participate in horseback riding was found to partially affect emotional style. Second, the motivation to participate in horseback riding was found to partially affect subjective well-being. Third, the emotional style of horseback riding participants was found to partially affect subjective well-being. Considering these results, it is possible to satisfy various desires in modern people's lives through leisure sports activities such as horseback riding, which allows them to communicate with nature and living things. In other words, internal motivation factors such as social relationships, satisfaction of needs, and professional development through leisure sports activities are positively or negatively related to emotional regulation, and this has a close impact on satisfaction with one's life and happiness.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the correlation among perfectionism, academic resilience and subjective well-being in order to identify factors that affect subjective well-being in Korean undergraduate students. Methods: This study is a descriptive study. This study was performed on 245 students currently studying in a national university in S city. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data regarding the multidimensional perfectionism scale, the academic resilience scale, and the subjective well-being scale. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise linear multiple regression with SPSS 25.0 for Windows. Results: Participants' scores for self-oriented perfectionism (SOP), other-oriented perfectionism (OOP), and socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP), academic resilience and subjective well-being were 64.64±12.78, 53.62±8.90, 56.98±8.96, 92.60±19.55, and 82.93±9.72, respectively. SPP showed a negative correlation with subjective well-being (r=- .27, p<.001), while academic resilience showed a positive correlation with subjective well-being (r=.20, p=.001). Satisfaction with school life, SPP, and academic resilience were identified as factors influencing subjective well-being and explained about 22% of the variance in subjective well-being. Conclusion: This study suggests that we need to identify various factors influencing subjective well-being and accordingly develop nursing interventions to improve undergraduate students' subjective well-being.

  • This study intends to verify the poverty characteristics of the rural elderly households so as to provide more specific data for the intervention of social welfare in the improvement of quality of life of the rural elderly. According to my study of the absolute poverty ratio, the poverty gap, the relative poverty ratio, the subjective poverty ratio, the subjective economic level and the life satisfaction level of the rural elderly households in comparison with those of the other groups, the conclusion is as follows: First, the total living cost of the rural elderly households is rather low with the food cost taking about 30% of the total living cost. Second, in terms of the poverty ratio based on socio-demographic characteristics, higher poverty ratio show among women, older people and households of fewer members. Third, 82.2% of the rural elderly households living with an income below the minimum living cost is found around the poverty line. Fourth, the rural elderly households show a comparatively higher poverty ratio than the other groups in the absolute and relative poverty, but lower economic strain than other groups in the subjective poverty ratio and life satisfaction level. In short, the rural elderly households' poverty level is generally high and therefore need ways of active economic supports, while a political approach to the subjective needs of the regional and intergenerational groups is also required.
