Methods : Questionnaire consisted of 17 questions including 7 questions of general characteristics, 5 questions of oral health awareness, and 5 questions of the behavior of oral health. A self-reported questionnaire was carried out from September 1 to September 28, 2012, The subjects were 400 male and female sanitation workers in private corporations in Jeonju. A total of 354 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS windows ver. 12.0 (SPSS Inc. Korea). Results : The majority of the subjects were male in 50's. Temporary contract workers are older aged and 2 to 5 years of career workers were the majority of the cleaners. Average monthly income was less than 2 million Korean Won. Those who had a higher academic background and permanent position tended to have oral health knowledge (p<0.05). Female workers had healthier subjective oral health status than male workers. Those who were in older age, single, temporary position, and 2 to 5 years of career tended to have healthier subjective oral health status (p<0.05). Those who were in older age, married, and long period of employment were worrying about their health (p<0.05). The subjective oral health knowledge was high in 49.7% of the workers because they were not able to brush teeth during work hours. They were able to brush their teeth only after dinner. It was low in female and older aged workers (p<0.05). The brushing method included a combination of top to bottom and from the side to side. Conclusions : This study showed the influencing factor of oral health in street workers. Work environment, education, age, monthly income, and types of employment were the important factors to oral health care. It is necessary to provide the right oral health care program for the workers in the near future.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate how mental health status affects oral health in the elderly. Methods: The subjects of the study provided the data for the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2013 to 2015. Four-hundred and twenty-one subjects were selected for the study. All data were analyzed by complex sampling frequency, chi-square test, and composite multiple regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 version. In addition, a significance level of 0.05 was considered. Results: The general factors affecting cases of periodontal disease were general characteristics, mental health status, oral health status, elderly males, household income, education level, daily brushing frequency, speaking, and stress. The effect of periodontal disease was 1.64 times higher in the male group than in the female group (p<0.001). In the household income level, the 'low' group had 1.91 times more periodontal disease, while the 'mid low' group had 1.64 times more periodontal disease than the 'high' group (p<0.05). Periodontal disease was found to be lower in the group that recognized subjective oral health status as 'good' (p<0.05). The study subjects had low levels of periodontal disease when there was no speaking difficulty (p<0.05). Conclusions: Therefore, in order to improve oral health of the elderly, it is necessary to understand the mental health condition of the elderly and prepare proper oral health education programs accordingly. Institutional devices for various oral health projects should be prepared, as well.

This study aims to analyze the relationship with oral health status through oral examinations, microorganism tests, and surveys of college students and present basic data necessary for the development of oral health education programs to prevent. Results of students who did not receive brushing education showed high motile activities of microorganism, and there was a significant relationship in which students with a large amount of microorganism subjectively felt more tooth pain. Symptoms of halitosis were greater in the DT, there were differences in the type of bacteria and the amount of bacteria in the MT, and oral health was worse if oral aids were not used in the DMFT index. Therefore, it was confirmed that oral health behavior, subjective oral health awareness, and the amount of microorganism had a significant relationship with oral health status. It will be necessary to develop and share and spread customized oral health education media for each life cycle.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between dental fear and subjective oral health-related quality of life. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 320 subjects in Seoul and Gyeonggido from June to August, 2014 after permission from Institutional Review Board (IRB). Except incomplete 9 copies, 311 data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 19.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of five questions of the general characteristics of the subjects, twelve questions of oral health related quality of life, eighteen questions of dental fear, and one question of awareness toward subjective health status. Results: The explanation power of subjective oral health-related quality of life on dental fear was 26.2 percent. As the subjective oral health-related quality of life increased by 1 point, the dental fear decreased at the rate of 0.645 (p<0.001). Conclusions: Higher subjective oral health-related quality of life will diminish the dental fear. Regular dental checkups and preventive treatment are very important to enhance the oral health-related quality of life in those who visit the dental clinic.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the periodontal health indexes of some college students and awareness of periodontal health by conducting a survey and complete blood count(CBC) to evaluate periodontal health status. Methods : The study subjects were 133 college students. After receiving informed consent, the health-related majoring students voluntarily participated in this study from May 1 to 30, 2012. Results : 1. In order to assess periodontal health indexes, total scores of all the 15 items were calculated and mean was 3.06 of 5 points. Mean of periodontal health was 3.48. 2. High hemoglobin and high hematocrit revealed high periodontal health indexes and high platelet resulted in low peridontal health indexes. 3. Red blood cell, hemoglobin, and hematocrit of the male, older, smoking, and high periodontal index students showed higher range of score in the meanwhile white blood cell and platelet was low range. The range of female students were not statistically significant. Conclusions : Periodontal health education program is very important to periodontal care and can motivate the oral health behavior change.
This study aims to identify the status of oral care of professional soldiers and analyze the relationship between oral care needs and oral health symptoms based on oral health recognition, thus providing an opportunity to create a system for improving oral health of professional soldiers. The study was conducted on a total of 232 military personnel aged 19 or older who were employed in the military. The questionnaire for this study was commissioned to respond by explaining the purpose of the study and how to respond to the survey by telephone with the selected sub-employer. The content included in the questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, oral care status, and awareness of dental hygienists. When the subjective oral health condition was poor, normal, or good, it was all shown that the toothbrush was done more than three times a day, and the oral examination was all examined. In particular, 68.1 percent of the respondents said they were in good subjective health. Preventive treatment was the highest in the group with good subjective oral health. Of the total respondents, 83.6 percent said "yes" to the question of knowing dental hygienists, while 65.5 percent said "yes" to the question of whether they know the work of dental hygienists, recognizing that most of the respondents were aware of dental hygienists and their work. Both the group that said they knew the dental hygienist and the group that said they did not know answered 43.5% as an assistant. In conclusion, oral health projects will have to be carried out in line with military situations in order to maintain a healthy oral state of professional soldiers, and long-term planning for active oral health care, especially as an important role of personnel in charge of health care in the military is needed.

Purpose : As the number of patients with systemic diseases is increasing in the old, the relevance of oral health is gaining particular research interest. To provide fundamental resources for dental services, this study examined the relationship between doctors' diagnoses of circulatory diseases and patients' awareness of oral health and oral care behaviors. Methods : SPSS 26.0 was used to assess various variables, including doctor's diagnosis of circulatory diseases, gender, age, household income quintile, participation in economic activity, marital status, subjective level of oral health awareness, mastication discomfort, speaking and chewing discomfort, dental inspection, use of oral care goods, teeth brushing during the previous day, and untreated oral conditions. Results : The circulatory diseases suffered by the subjects were as follows: 56 % high blood pressure, 36 % dyslipidemia, 6 % stroke, and 8 % myocardial infarction or angina. A higher age meant a higher diagnosis rate of high blood pressure (p<.001) and stroke (p<.001). Those with dyslipidemia showed a higher rate of receiving oral inspection (p=.040), and an untreated oral condition was more frequently observed among those not diagnosed with the disease (p=.035). The subjects who were not diagnosed with stroke showed a higher rate of oral inspection (p<.001), while those who had a prior experience of stroke suffered a higher rate of mastication discomfort (p=.020). People who had high blood pressure showed a lower rate of using oral care goods (p<.001), and those diagnosed with stroke showed a lower rate of brushing teeth the previous day. Conclusion : This study found a correlation between the diagnosis of circulatory diseases and the awareness of oral health and oral care behavior. Consequently, oral health education should be included in mental health-related education, and customized training to teach teeth brushing and the use of oral care goods should be provided to patients with circulatory diseases during dentist visits.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence factors affecting behavior of oral health improvement perceived by the subjective oral health awareness perception factors in some college students.
