  • This paper presents a unified account of three kinds of constructions in which more than one NP can show up with the same case in simple sentences in Japanese and Korean: double subject, double nominative object and double accusative constructions. Noting that the second NPs in these constructions are functional or relational, this paper proposes to assign them the category and type different from the first NPs. We show the derivations of these three constructions in a parallel manner, and explain the asymmetries in extractability between possessor and possessed NPs in relativization.

  • A study has been made prior to the emphatic research to see how the curriculum of the Library Science Departments, in general, has developed to date. In the principles of the composition of the curriculum of library science, research has been conducted to determine what decisions will be the most appropriate for the changing trend of the society, regarding the matters of general specialization versus subject specialization education, the definition, change and operation of the core subject, the expansion of the elective specialized subjects and the composition of the curriculum by types of the library, and the curriculum composition in terms of subject specilization. The curriculum should consist of a unified series of courses and other educational experiences, designed to meet specific program objectives. Principles and concepts should be emphasized, over routines and techniques. All students should study certain fundamental 'core' subjects, as well as more specialized electives. General education (studies outside of librarianship) should be a major component of the total education of the librarian. Fundamental core subjects should be treated as introductory courses covering deep studies that can provide the most inclusive information related to the library science field. They should be offered as pre-requisites required of all the students entering the Department of Library Science. Specialized subjects and interdisciplinary courses comprising subject concentration should be offered as electives at the advanced level.

Firstly, the subjects of fisheries & Maritime high school teacher's certificates are fishing industry, aquiculture, sailing, engine and freezing and new subjects are ocean shipping and ocean logistics. Because the teacher's certificate was changed to integrated indication subjects, there were problems of teacher cultivation, teacher hiring, etc. So, in the actual field of school, teacher cultivating university and related department are necessary to strengthen high-quality majoring education/subjects and practical education as well as need to establish teacher cultivating system by teacher cultivating organization's evaluation system and teacher cultivating education program related by differentiation and easiness of majoring characterization. Secondly, teacher cultivating for new departments and new subjects can apply related major system, free major system, etc. Thirdly, if professional high schools find majoring areas whose content is same one another and introduce common indication subject system, it will be helpful to improve the quality of teachers, teacher certification examination, etc. of professional area.

Before the experiment, a pre-test was conducted on the children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes. The pre-test results were subject to a t test to identify whether there were differences between the two groups in age as well as the levels of scientific research capabilities and attitudes. A post-test was also conducted to determine the differences between the two groups in these categories. These results have led to the conclusion that the project approach utilizing beans as the subject matter has a positive impact on improving young children's scientific research capabilities and scientific attitudes.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to suggest directions for the future education of Library management. For this purpose, some theoretical backgrounds are traced based on the historical events, the standards provided by international and national organizations, and theories suggested through researches. And the percentages of library management subjects in the curricula of ten Library and Information Science Departments are calculated divided by compulsory and elective ones, along with the contents analyses of a few textbooks in the field. The hypotheses to be tested are as follows: 1. The American postgraduate library education was introduced into Korea as an undergraduate course. So the importance of the subject of library management was recognized as in America, and the numbers of subject Would have been increased, and the contents detailed. 2. The contents of the subject taught would not have changed much since its introduction. It means that they will be almost the same as those were prevalent in the United States of America in the 1950s, when the American education was brought into Korea. The hypotheses can be accepted as being true. Based on the conclusions, some suggestions, including the teaching of the subject should be directed more towards management aspects rather than administrative ones, are provided.
