In this study, we evaluated the antioxidant activity and protective effects against oxidative DNA damage of the ethyl acetate fraction from the callus of Abeliophyllum distichum Nakai (ECA). Callus of A. distichum was induced on MS medium containing NAA (1 mg/L) and 2,4-D (1 mg/L), and a sufficient amount was obtained for the extraction by subculture. Acteoside was analyzed and quantified (0.39 mg/g callus) from ECA using the high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detector method. ECA showed very high antioxidative activity as revealed by DPPH and ABTS scavenging assays. The $IC_{50}$ values were 12.4 and $6.8{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. ECA showed protective effects against oxidative DNA damage evaluated by using ${\Psi}X-174$ RF I plasmid DNA. It also inhibited DNA damage by suppressing the oxidative stress-induced protein and mRNA levels of ${\gamma}$-H2AX and p53 in NIH/3T3 cells. In conclusion, ECA protects against oxidative DNA damage through its powerful antioxidant activity.

Genetic transformation in dandelion(Taraxacum mongolicum Hand). was studied. We used for transformation by Agrobacterium tumefaciens strian LBA4404 harboring a binary vector pBI121 carrying the CaMV 35S promoter-GUS gene fusion used as a reporter gene and NOS promoter-NPTII gene as a positive selection marker. To obtain transformed plants, leaf explants of dandelion were cocultured with Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 for 10 mins, then transferred to MS medium containing 1 $\mu$M IAA, 1$\mu$M BA, 100$\mu$g/ML carbenicillin and 50 $\mu$g/ML kanarmycin sulfate. After two weeks of subculture of the explants, Kanamycin-resistant shoots were formed on explants survived. When subjected to GUS histochemical assay, all of the regenerants showed the GUS-positive responses. Plantlets were be be transformed to soil for further growth.

Th purpose of this study is three folds: to analyze postmodern fashion through the notion of pastiche to enhance an understanding of uncertain and confused situation in the late 1990s and to suggest a way of approach to creativity and originality in recent fashion design. The results can be summarized as follows: 1. Pastiche is an art work that borrows some parts of other artists authentic works and recombines them thus imitating their style technique or motifs selfconciously. 2. Pastiche is based onthe Deconstruction theory: the end of art as a result of deconstruction of the subject the collapse of the meaning the loss of history: the late Capitalism in which reality becomes chage into images or simulacre. 3. Pastiche represented by the death of author which means the exhaustion of creativity is shown in the fashion borrowing subculture styles and art works or religious images. Pastiche fashion which is equal to the play of signifiers floated as image is shown as graffiti and objects Time and space pastiche fashion can be explained by historical eclectism and ethnic looks, Finally pastiche means not the fixed aspect but the open concept of indeterminate condition which includes " anything goes" through the coesistence of various style in pastiche fashion.

The pastiche is one of the most unique characteristics in the post-modern period. The pastiche fashion design is an intentional imitation expressed by deconstructivity of the design. It has become the major creation method of post-modern fashion by expressing the image from the variety and creativity. The concept of imitation in pastiche is the important fashion subject which lead the dynamics and creativities of fashion when It has freshness and spiritual energy. The values of creative area of pastiche are as fellows - firstly, it provides the delightness through the disharmony by being released from the restraint and stress of the restricted society. Secondly, the characteristics of restoration generated by development and reproduced from imitation has become an origin of creation. Thirdly, the boundary between subculture and high-class culture would be dismantled and the elements of these culture are mixed to become a unique image through its abundance and compromise vague public culture. Fourthly, the pastiche fashion dismantles the basic structure of clothes to endow avant-garde esthetic appreciation. Fifthly, the folklore fashion representing the culture of minority and neighboring countries would become a new destroying the historically fixed clue. sixthly, the reinterpretation of pastiche fashion discovers the new regulations and beauties from Imitation to provides tow Important elements of post-capitalism fashion, dynamics and creativity. Lastly the consistent adaptation of image of fashion design with strong technical and theoretical basis can establish new fashions of this era with its unique creativeness.

In response to increasing preference for tattoos during the 2000s, the demand for Japanesestyle tattoo fashion increased. Ukiyoe, the prototype of Japanese tattoo popular in the Edo period has been preserved traditional expression techniques to the present, It is characterized by the following: first, the tattoos share literary lyricism through plays borrowed from the classics. second, it displays harmony and equivocal expression of heterogeneous elements samurai and kabuki mono. third, humorous images are expressed in picture-in-picture form. And fourth, presence of fixed characters based on the publication culture. Tattoo fashion is characterized by the following: First, eclectic fashion based on pastiche; second, characters emphasizing fun and comicality; third, the adoption of tattoo models for establishing brand images; and fourth, Cultural association for the new composition of culture consumption. Pastiche, harmony of heterogeneous elements, fun and comicality, and fixed characters were found to be common between tattoo ukiyoe and tattoo fashion. That is, it attempted to meet the sensitive consumers' needs to keep up with the trends by adopting tattoo incorporated into the subculture of neo pop. This shows clearly the characteristics of fashion, which creates new trends through interacting with the contemporary culture.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the fashion image behind the colour black formed by existentialism in the 20th century. Human beings started to ask themselves questions about their nature and existence by undergoing two world wars in the 20th century. Existentialism was born out of these philosophical thoughts and in particular, French existentialists led the public discourse of the time and expressed their philosophical thoughts and ideas through black fashion. Therefore we revealed the existentialistic meanings of black by studying the French existentialist ideology and their black fashion. The thoughts of existentialism became popularized in France by French philosophers. Sartre especially played a big role in the popularization of existentialism in France. The black fashion worn by existentialists became popularized along with the ideology that it expressed. Sartre's thoughts on existentialism are summarized in existence Precedes Essence, self-reliance, and engagement. From these, the fashion image behind the colour black formed by existentialism was analogized to resistant image, nihilistic image and self-reliance image.

Hypocotyl explants of flowering cabbage were precultured on MS medium without kanamycin and then cocultured with Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404;;pGA875 harboring insect resistantce proteinase inhibitor II(PI-II) gene in MS liquid medium adjusted pH 5.5 for 72hr. These explants were transferred to MS medium containing 20 mg/L kanamycin, 500 mg/L carbenicillin, and 1 mg/L BA. The explants were subsequently subcultured every 2 weeks. After 4 weeks of subculture, kanamycin-resistant shoots were obtained from selection medium. Leaves of putative transformants survived on MS selection medium containing 30 mg/L kanamycin. Incoporation of the PI-II gene into flowering cabbage was confirmed by PCR analysis of genomic DNA. Southern blot analysis showed that ECL-labeled probe for PI-II gene was hybridized to the expected amplified genomic DNA fragment of about 500 by from transgenic flowering cabbage.

Orostachys japonicus A. Berger is a Perennial herbaceous plant which has been traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory agent to treat hepatitis and as an anticancer agent. The objective of this study was 1) to establish and proliferate in vitro plant of O. japonicus 2) to induce indirect somatic embryogenesis from O. japonicus. General calli and embryogenic calli in all ranges of 2,4-D and BA combination, were induced and were best at 22% (embryogenic cell) in 5.0 mg/L 2,4-D and 0.5 mg/L BA combination. Embryogenic cell line was maintained by subculture at 2 week intervals and transferred to solid and liquid medium for embryo formation. In solid medium culture, globular and heart shaped embryos were observed in MS medium containing 5.0 mg/L 2,4-D and 0.5 mg/L BA combination. The number of embryos was 6.5 per 0.5 g cell, and then the immature embryos transferred to MS basal medium for embryo development. In a suspension culture of embryogenic cells, globular and heart shaped embryos were emerged in MS medium supplemented with 3.0 mg/L 2,4-D and 0.3 mg/L BA combination after 10 days of incubation. The embryo formation rate was about 33% by suspension culture. The ratio of embryo germination was 60.9%, on the other side, the root formation rate was 74.3% in 1/2 MS continuously.

In previous paper, we described the induced callus of Corydalis remota contains a significant amount of alkaloids. This study describes an optimal condition to maximize alkaloid production. The suspension cultures maintained alkaloid production ability after fifth subculture and a small amount of alkaloid seemed to be released out of cells. The yields of alkaloid by cultured cells was varied depending on the concentrations of NAA, carbon sources and phosphate ion and depending on the vitamin combinations and concentrations. Biosynthetic precursor and an elicitor treatment also affected the total alkaloid yield of the cultures. The optimal conditions for alkaloid production were as follows: 1) MS basal salt containing 30 g/l of glucose, 1.0 mg/l of NAA, and vitamins of LS medium should be used. 2) The culture should be treated with tyrosine 20 mg/l, and yeast extract 1.5 ml/l after the culture reached a stationary phase of growth. Five alkaloids were isolated from the cultures and they were characterized. The spectral data unambiguously revealed that the isolated compounds were dihydrosanguinarine, protopine. tetrahydropalmatine, allocyptopine and ambinine, respectively.

In this paper, It is examined the patterns of fashion style in the history of subcultural clothing from 1930s to 1960s, focusing on the way each generation resisted the main stream through its styles. The subcultural styles examined and classified in this study are mainly British and American, with a few European and Western Indian styles included. This study understands subcultural style as a way of deviate or resistant expression within a society. The patterns of subcultural styles presented in this study are based on their form of resistance, and they are classified as follows: The pattern is revision, which tries to revise and change the given form by adding new elements. There are two kinds of revision, one is dressing up, which dresses for success, and the other is minimal dressing. Zoot, caribbean, western, teddy boy, rockabilly style are included here. As minimal dressing, there are hipster, beatnik, modernist, mod, rude boy style. In conclusion, it can be said that subcultural style puts the foremost importance on individual freedom. The new and significant development can be found in the fact that subcultural style emerges as a dominating force in our culture. This implies that the energy of a subculture is essential as a formative force of a fashion world.
