We propose a new method of masking cloud-affected pixels in satellite ocean color imageries such as of GLI. Those pixels, mostly found around cloud pixels or in scattered cloud area, have anomalous features in either in chlorophyll-a estimate or in water reflectance. This artifact is most likely caused by residual error of inter-band registration correction. Our method is to check the pixel-wise 'soundness' of the spectral water reflectance Rw retrieved after the atmospheric correction. First, we define two spectral ratio between water reflectance, IRR1 and IRR2, each defined as RW(B1)/RW (B3) RW (B3) and as RW (B2)/RW(B4) respectively, where $B1{\sim}B4$ stand for 4 consecutive visible bands. We show that an almost linear relation holds over log-scaled IRR1 and IRR2 for shipmeasured RW data of SeaBAM in situ data set and for GLI cloud-free Level 2 sub-scenes. The method we propose is to utilize this nature, identifying those pixels that show significant discrepancy from that relationship. We apply this method to ADEOS-II/GLI ocean color data to evaluate the performance over Level-2 data, which includes different water types such as case 1, turbid case 2 and coccolithophore bloom waters.

In this paper, It propose a new restoration algorithm of high resolution, which is reconstructed to high resolution image using low resolution image informations. The proposed algorithm is constructed based on super resolution theory, it is consisted of progressive steps of the integration and construction. It reduced a lot of data-processing capacity and noise with integration through sub-pixel movement and wavelet basis through a higher resolution. As a result, it is shown that the main information is maintained and the error rate is improved. Using expansion fuzzy wavelet B-spline interpolation in stage of construction, it is confirmed that we can achieve smoothing image and good resolution without blur and block.

As the film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFTLCD) panels become larger and provide higher resolution, the propagation delay of row and column lines, the voltage modulation of Vcom, and the response time of liquid crystal affect the display images now more than in the past. It is more important to understand the electrical characteristic of TFT-LCD panels these days. This paper describes the electrical model of a 15-inch XGA ($1024{\times}768$) TFT-LCD panel. The parasitic resistance and capacitance of its panel are obtained by 3D simulation of a sub pixel. The accuracy of these data is verified by the measured values in an actual panel [1]. The developed panel simulation platform, the equivalent circuit of a 15-inch XGA panel, is simulated by HSPICE. The results of simulation are compared with those of experiment, according to changing the width of signal. Especially, the proposed simulation platform for modeling TFTLCD panels can be applied to large size LCD TVs. It can help panel and circuit designers to verify their ideas without making actual panels and circuits.
Motion compensated interpolation (MCI) techniques are used for increasing the frame rate and generating the side information in the distributed video coding (DVC) system. In this paper, an efficient MCI technique using the image resizing in the DCT or LiftLT domain is proposed, and the performance of the MCI technique using various sub-pixel generation techniques is analyzed. Extensive computer simulations show that the proposed method produces the superior results compared to the conventional methods.

Phase averaged velocity fields in the near wake region behind a square cylinder have been (successfully) obtained using randomly sampled PIV data sets. The Reynolds number based on the flow velocity and the vertex height was 3,900. To identify the phase information, we examined the magnitude of circulation and the center of peak vorticity. The center of vorticity was estimated from lowpass filtered vorticity contours (LES decomposition) adopting a sub-pixel searching algirithm. Due to the sinusoidal nature of firculation which is closely related to the instantaneous vorticity, the location of peak voticity fits well with a sine curve of the circulation magnitude. Conditionally-averaged velocity fields represent the barman vortex shedding phenomenon very well within 5 degrees phase uncertainty. The oscillating nature of the separated shear layer and the separation bubble at the top surface are clearly observed. With the hot-wire measurements of Strouhal frequency, we found thats the convection velocity changes its magnitude very rapidly from 25 to 75 percent of the free stream velocity along the streamwise direction when the flow passes by the recirculation region.
Reversible data hiding scheme is a form of steganography in which the secret embedding data can be retrieved from a stego image for the purpose of identification, copyright protection and making a covert channel. The reversible data hiding should satisfy that not only are the distortions due to artifacts against the cover image invisible but also it has large embedding capacity as far as possible. In this paper, we propose a robust reversible data hiding scheme by exploiting the differences between a center pixel and its neighboring pixels in each sub-block of the image to embed secret data into extra space. Moreover, our scheme enhances the embedding capacity and can recover the embedded data from the stego image without causing any perceptible distortions to the cover image. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme has lower visible distortions in the stego image and provides robustness to geometrical image manipulations, such as rotation and cropping operations.

A realization for an accurate position detecting system of a moving target in two dimensional plane using dual line CCDs and photometric interpolation is presented. The system is realized that the infrared LEDs are utilized for lighting source, a target size is recognized by the scanned data from CCD owing to blocking the radiated light path by placing the target between CCD and lighting source, a coordinate on the plane is found by plane trigonometry formed by the moving target and two CCD sensors, and the former scan data is used for the coordinate iteratively and the photometric interpolation is applied to sub-pixel of scanned image. The experimental results show that the experiment results in a success rate about 3 different size targets, 3, 5 and 7mmm on the test plane $210{\times}373mm$. The moving target positioning detected success rate is 93% in 3mm target, 5mm is 95.3%, and 7mm is 95.8% respectively. The photometric interpolation is enhanced to 1.5% in comparison to be unused.

We present real-time pedestrian detection that exploit accuracy of Faster R-CNN network. Faster R-CNN has shown to success at PASCAL VOC multi-object detection tasks, and their ability to operate on raw pixel input without the need to design special features is very engaging. Therefore, in this work we apply and adjust Faster R-CNN to single object detection, which is pedestrian detection. The drawback of Faster R-CNN is its failure when object size is small. Previously, small sized object problem was solved by Scale-aware Network. We incorporate Scale-aware Network to Faster R-CNN. This made our method Scale-aware Faster R-CNN (DF R-CNN) that is both fast and very accurate. We separated Faster R-CNN networks into two sub-network, that is one for large-size objects and another one for small-size objects. The resulting approach achieves a 28.3% average miss rate on the Caltech Pedestrian detection benchmark, which is competitive with the other best reported results.

A fine segmentation algorithm is proposed for extracting objects in an image, which have both weak boundaries and highly non-convex shapes. The image has simple background colors or simple object colors. Two concepts, geometric attraction-driven flow (GADF) and edge-regions are combined to detect boundaries of objects in a sub-pixel resolution. The main strategy to segment the boundaries is to construct initial curves close to objects by using edge-regions and then to make a curve evolution in GADF. Since the initial curves are close to objects regardless of shapes, highly non-convex shapes are easily detected and dependence on initial curves in boundary-based segmentation algorithms is naturally removed. Weak boundaries are also detected because the orientation of GADF is obtained regardless of the strength of boundaries. For a fine segmentation, we additionally propose a local region competition algorithm to detect perceptible boundaries which are used for the extraction of objects without visual loss of detailed shapes. We have successfully accomplished the fine segmentation of objects from images taken in the studio and aphids from images of soybean leaves.

The close-range photogrammetry is a surveying technique the acquiring the 3D object from 2D geometric appearance shown in the image. Camera treatment is relatively so simple. Camera position refer to the object can be freely adjusted by locating the exposure station at any site. So it is used effectively on a small area or object for survey. In this study, using the digital camera which has capacity of keeping numerical value by itself and easy carrying, we analyze the positioning error according to various change of photographing condition. Also we try to find a effective method of acquiring basis data for 3D monitoring of high-accuracy in sub-pixel degree thorough digital close-range photogrammetry with bundle adjustment for local terrain model generation.
