In this paper, we propose a direct model reference adaptive fuzzy control (MRAFC) for MIMO nonlinear systems whose structure is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The adaptive law of the MRAFC estimates the approximation error of the fuzzy logic system so that it provides asymptotic tracking of the reference signal for the systems with uncertain or slowly time-varying parameters. The developed control law and adaptive law guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system. In addition, the plant state tracks the state of the reference model asymptotically with time for any bounded reference input signal. To verify the validity and effectiveness of the MRAFC scheme, the suggested analysis and design techniques are applied to the tracking control of robot manipulator and simulation studies are carried out. In the control design, the MRAFC is combined with feedforward PD control to make the actual joint trajectories of the robot manipulator with system uncertainties track the desired reference joint position trajectories asymptotically stably.
Recently food problem and crop disaster have been increased continuously because of the meteorological changes. These cause rising cost for crops continuously and irregularly. Some researchers have studied straight structure of device for hydroponics and plant factory previously to solve a fundamental part of these problems. However, there are several problems such as limited crop cultivation space, providing irregular nutrients for crops, and lack of monitoring interfaces. For them, we propose an optimal growth and development crops management system using light source tracking and recirculation of nutrient solution method to supply nutrient continuously based on IoT. In order to evaluate the performance of our system, we compared and analyzed in terms of two viewpoints, the tracking analysis for natural light source measurement and the growth of crops through artificial light, LED, respectively. We confirmed that the higher the duty ratio of LED, the larger the crop's size, particularly. As well as, for about 1 month, we compared with the existing natural light growing environment and that of our system. It was confirmed that the size of the crops grown through our system is about three times larger than that of natural light natural crops.
Lunar exploration program has been prepared with the aim of launch in the 2020's. As part of it, a lunar lander demonstrator has been developed which is the model for verifying all the system, such as structure, propulsion and control system before launch to deep space. After verifying all the system, the demonstrator will be evaluated by flight test. This paper deals with path tracking controller based on thrusters for the demonstrator. For this, first we derive equations of motion according to the allocation of thrusters and design the path tracking controller. The signal generated from the controller is continuous so PWPF(Pulse-Width Pulse-Frequency) modulator is adopted for generating on/off signal. Finally MATLAB simulation is performed for evaluating the path tracking ability and the final landing velocity.
The distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) concept is widely adopted in photovoltaic systems to avoid mismatch loss. However, the high cost and complexity of DMPPT hinder its further promotion in practice. Based on the concept of DMPPT, this paper presents an integrated submodule level half-bridge stack structure along with an optimal current point tracking (OCPT) control algorithm. In this full power processing integrated solution, the number of power switches and passive components is greatly reduced. On the other hand, only one current sensor and its related AD unit are needed to perform the ideal maximum power generation for all of the PV submodules in any irradiance case. The proposal can totally eliminate different small-scaled mismatch effects in real-word condition and the true maximum power point of each PV submodule can be achieved. As a result, the ideal maximum power output of the whole PV system can be achieved. Compared with current solutions, the proposal further develops the integration level of submodule DMPPT solutions with a lower cost and a smaller size. Moreover, the individual MPPT tracking for all of the submodules are guaranteed.
A magnetic levitation system requires a robustness to overcome a dynamic instability due to disturbances. In this paper a robust controller for a magnetically levitated fine manipulator is presented. The proposed controller consists of following two parts: a model reference controller and an $H_{\infty}$ controller. First, the model reference control stabilizes the motion of the manipulator. Then, the motion of the manipulator follows that of the reference model. Second, the $H_{\infty}$ control minimizes errors generated from the model reference control due to noise and disturbance since the $H_{\infty}$ control is a kind of robust control. The experiments of position control and tracking control are carried out by use of the proposed controller under the conditions of free disturbances and forced disturbances. Also, the experiments using PID controller are carried out under the same conditions. The results from above two controllers are compared to investigate the control performances. As the results, it is observed that the proposed controller has similar position accuracy but better tracking performances comparing to the PID controller as well as good disturbance rejection effect due to the robust characteristics of the controller. In conclusion. it is verified that the proposed controller has the simple control structure, the good tracking performances and good disturbance rejection effect due to the robust characteristics of the controller.

An optical phase tracking technique for an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (EFPI) is proposed in order to overcome interferometric non-linearity. Basic idea is utilizing strain-rate information, which cannot be easily obtained from an EFPI sensor itself. The proposed phase tracking system consists of a patch-type EFPI sensor and a simple on-line phase tracking logic. The patch-type EFPI sensor comprises an EFPI and a piezoelectric patch. An EFPI sensor itself has non-linear behavior due to the interferometric characteristics, and a piezoelectric material has hysteresis. However, the composed patch-type EFPI sensor system overcomes the problems that can arise when they are used individually. The dynamic characteristics of the proposed phase tracking system were investigated, and then the patch-type EFPI sensor system was applied to the active suppression of flutter, dynamic aeroelastic instability, of a swept-back composite plate structure. The proposed system has effectively reduced the amplitude of the flutter mode, and increased flutter speed.
For the moving objects with environmental sensors such as object tracking moving robot with audio and video sensors, environmental information acquired from sensors keep changing according to movements of objects. In such case, due to lack of adaptability and system complexity, conventional control schemes show limitations on control performance, and therefore, sensory-motor systems, which can intuitively respond to various types of environmental information, are desirable. And also, to improve the system robustness, it is desirable to fuse more than two types of sensory information simultaneously. In this paper, based on Braitenberg's model, we propose a sensory-motor based fusion system, which can trace the moving objects adaptively to environmental changes. With the nature of direct connecting structure, sensory-motor based fusion system can control each motor simultaneously, and the neural networks are used to fuse information from various types of sensors. And also, even if the system receives noisy information from one sensor, the system still robustly works with information from other sensors which compensates the noisy information through sensor fusion. In order to examine the performance, sensory-motor based fusion model is applied to object-tracking four-foot robot equipped with audio and video sensors. The experimental results show that the sensory-motor based fusion system can tract moving objects robustly with simpler control mechanism than model-based control approaches.
The paper reports on a study of the influence of the silicone oils on the tracking and erosion resistance and hydrophobicity of SIR. Two silicone oils(A, B) having different chemical structure were selected in consideration of goof hydrophobicity and processability. Tracking and erosion resistance of SIR was investigated by the rotating wheel dip test (RWDT). In this test tracking and erosion areas due to glow and partial arc discharges cause an increase in the leakage current with an increase in time. Leakage current of SIR was decreased with increasing ratio of oil A/B. SIR was exposed to corona discharges in air and the specimens were analyzed with contact angle. It was observed that the contact angle of SIR was increased gradually in time. The recovery of hydrophobicity was increased with increasing ratio of oil A/B.
This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy of a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system that has the information of rotor position error. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error to zero. For zero and low speed operation, PI controller gains of rotor position tracking controller have a variable structure according to the estimated rotor velocity. In order to boost the bandwidth of PI controller around zero speed, a loop recovery technique is applied to the control system. The proposed method only requires the flux linkage of permanent magnet and is insensitive to the parameter estimation error and variation. The designers can easily determine the possible operating range with a desired bandwidth and perform the vector control even at low speeds. The experimental results show the satisfactory operation of the proposed sensorless algorithm under rated load conditions.
