  • The number of industrial structures that must be demolished due to functional and structural deterioration has been increased. There is an increasing application of explosive demolition or explosive demolition combined with mechanical demolition to minimize temporal and spatial environmental hazardous factors created during the process of demolition. In this case study, to demolish the turbine foundation structure, which is a large-section reinforced concrete structure, the parital explosive demolition thchnique was conducted. As a result of the partial explosive demolition, the overall crushing of the blasting sections of beam-column joints structure with haunched beams and second-floor columns about the turbine foundation was satifactory, and the explosive demolition was completed without causing any damage to surrounding facilities.

  • Recently, the demand of demolition for the unnecessary industrial structure is increasing due to deterioration tendency and the issue of demolition is becoming a major highlight. The restoration of the dismantled industrial site to its original natural state was currently underway. This execution case was intented to describe an application of the felling method one of the explosive demolition method to the demolition of the industrial stack. This stack was 150m high, a composite structure in which the outer wall of the stack was a reinforced concrete shell structure and internal stovepipe was a steel shell structure. As as result of the explosive demolition, the stack had collapsed precisely according to estimated direction. And the explosive demolition was completed without causing any damage to surrounding facilities.

  • To prevent incident of demolition work the Building Management Act was implemented to manage demolition work. According to this law, buildings with the scale upper than 500㎡ of floor area are classified as permission to conduct the demolition work, however it may be hard to perform safety management at demolition work. In addition, the risk level of demolition work is varied with related to the structure type. So, the purpose of this study is to suggest the improvements of criteria on demolition work considering building structure types including small-scale structures such as masonry, wooden, and other structure. The research process was conducted by three steps. (I) Application of Building Management Act; (II) Analysis of demolition work by structure types; and (III) Subdivision of permission targets by building structure types. The result of this study, permission ratio was only 10% for total demolition work and 2.43% for masonry. Because the masonry, wooden, and other structure types are concentrated on a floor area of small-scale, the separate criteria of demolition work is need to prevent the accident and fatal incident. Through the results, the decision maker can be utilized (1) For the special building structure types, the criteria of enhanced safety management are applied by referring to the overseas law ; and (2) The demolition work can be considered by the criteria of separate permission in terms of structure types.

  • According to increasing demands for a redevelopment of a wall-slab structure apartment, new explosive demolition methods, which are different from those for RC structure apartment, are requested. In this study, to provide basic design data on explosive demolition of wall-slab structure apartment, wall-slab structure apartments were classified according to building types and dimensions. Also adequate explosive demolition methods for wall-slab structure apartment are analyzed by using blasting pattern factors such as height(H), breadth(B) and length(L) of apartment.

  • Recently, the number of industrial structures that must be demolished due to structural deterioration and unsatisfactory functional conditions has been increased. To minimize environmental hazardous factors created during the process of demolition, the explosive demolition method has been applied increasingly. This execution case was intended to describe an application of the explosive demolition method to the demolition of a Crusher & Screen structure, which was a large-section reinforced concrete special structure. It was deemed necessary due to its structural deterioration and unsatisfactory functional condition. Various pre-weakening processes and blasting patterns were applied to the large-section reinforced concrete members, and to reduce blasting vibration and impact vibration, time intervals were established for blasting in the same column and for blasting between blasting blocks. By applying the explosive demolition method to the demolition of a large-section reinforced concrete special structure, the explosive demolition was completed safely and efficiently, without causing any damage to surrounding facilities.

  • The main structure of the building has been used reinforced concrete construction method in Korea. In recent years, it is necessary to demolition of buildings into urban redevelopment. But yet the demolition method is not being developed perfect. It is necessary to develop future deconstruction for safety and environment method. In this study, we surveyed the demolition method has been used in domestic construction. How the combination of these demolition method should be needed. Demolition method combinations were classified as low-rise, high-rise, middle. It suggested method to combine the demolition process of reinforced concrete structure with seven.

  • Recently, the demand for demolition for the unnecessary steel frame structure is increasing due to deterioration and unsatisfactory functional conditions and the major highlights of demolition issues. This execution case was intended to describe an application of the felling method as one about the suggested method for explosive demolition method of ore bin and coke bin facilities, which were steel frame structures. And we used the charging container for blast cutting of the steel frame structure. As a result of the explosive demolition, the ore bin and coke bin had collapsed precisely according to the estimated direction. And the explosive demolition was completed without causing any damage to surrounding facilities.
