  • The three dimensional analysis of Framed-Tube structures is neither easy nor efficient because of longer computational time, large memory requirement, tedious input preparation and bulky output. An efficient analysis model for framed-tube structure is proposed in this study. The proposed model can save the computational effort by using the assumption of the rigid floor diaphragm effect and matrix condensation technique. Moreover, it is develpoed by assembling two dimensional frames using the link degrees of freedom which are temporary used to satisfy the vertical displacement compatibility at the corners of a framed-tube. The accuracy and the efficiency of this analytical model is established by comparing with the results using the computer code SAPIV which is based on the three dimensional finite element model.

  • A polygon-wise constant curvature natural element approximation is presented in this paper for the numerical implementation of the abstract Kirchhoff plate model. The strict continuity requirement in the displacement field is relaxed by converting the area integral of the curvatures into the boundary integral along the Voronoi boundary. Curvatures and bending moments are assumed to be constant within each Voronoi polygon, and the Voronoi-polygon-wise constant curvatures are derived in a selective manner for the sake of the imposition of essential boundary conditions. The numerical results illustrating the proposed method are also given.

  • An optimal design method in cooperated with nonlinear inelastic analysis method is presented. The proposed nonlinear inelastic method overcomes the difficulties due to incompatibility between the elastic global analysis and the limit state member design in the conventional LRFD method. The genetic algorithm uses a procedure based on Darwinian notions of survival of the fittest, where selection, crossover, and mutation operators are used among sections in the database to look for high performance ones. They satisfy the constraint functions and give the lightest weight to the structure. The objective function is set to the total weight of the steel structure and the constraint functions are load-carrying capacities, serviceability, and ductility requirement. Case studies of a three-dimensional frame and a three-dimensional steel arch bridge are presented.

  • The stochastic analysis of semi-infinite domain is presented using the weighted integral method, which is improved to include the higher order terms in expanding the displacement vector. To improve the weighted integral method, the Lagrangian remainder is taken into account in the expansion of the status variable with respect to the mean value of the random variables. In the resulting formulae only the 'proportionality coefficients' are introduced in the resulting equation, therefore no additional computation time and memory requirement is needed. The equations are applied in analyzing the semi-infinite domain. The results obtained by the improved weighted integral method are reasonable and are in good agreement with those of the Monte Carlo simulation. To model the semi-infinite domain, the Bettess's infinite element is adopted, where the theoretical decomposition of the strain-displacement matrix to calculate the deviatoric stiffness of the semi-infinite domains is introduced. The calculated value of mean and the covariance of the displacement are revealed to be larger than those given by the finite domain assumptions which is thought to be rational and should be considered in the design of structures on semi-infinite domains.

  • This paper proposed an approach to integrate bridge condition assessment related information with a 3D bridge model to visualize bridge condition assessment information in the 3D bridge model. In this approach, bridge information model plays a centric role in the data access and realizes the integration of bridge initial design and historical bridge maintenance records. Behind the bridge information model is a rational database. After the system requirements for this approach, several IFC data model extensions are suggested.

  • This paper presents the status improvement of an old damaged deck type rural road steel truss bridge through the modal parametric study after partial retrofitting. The dynamic and static tests on bridge were carried out as in damaged state and after partial retrofitting. The dynamic testing on the steel bridge was carried out using accelerometers under similar environmental conditions with same speed of the moving vehicle. The comparison of the modal parameters i.e., frequency, mode shape mode shape curvature, modal strain energy, along with the deflection parameter are studied with respect to structural analytical model parameters. The status up gradation for the upper and downstream truss obtained was different due to differential level of damage in the bridge. Also after retrofitting the structural elemental behavior obtained was not same as desired. The damage level obtained through static tests carried out using total station indicated further retrofitting requirement.

  • Nowadays, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been widely adopted in structural health monitoring (SHM) systems for social overhead capital (SOC) public infrastructures. Structural health information, environmental disturbances and sudden changes of weather conditions, damage detections, and external load quantizing are among the capabilities required of SHM systems. These information requires an efficient transmission with which an efficient mobility management support for wireless networks can provide. This paper deals with the analysis of mobility management schemes in order to address the real-time requirement of data traffic delivery for critical SHM information. The host-based and network-based mobility management protocols have been identified and the advantages of network mobility (NEMO) enabled Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol version 6 (PMIPv6) have been leveraged in order to address the SHM information transmission needs. The scheme allows an efficient information transmission as it improves the handover performance due to shortened handover latency as well as reduced signaling overhead.

  • As users of internet-based software applications increase, functional and non-functional problems for software applications are quickly exposed to user reviews. These user reviews are an important source of information for software improvement. User review mining has become an important topic of intelligent software engineering. This study proposes a user review mining method for software improvement. User review data collected by crawling on the app review page is analyzed to check user satisfaction. It analyzes the sentiment of positive and negative that users feel with a machine learning method. And it analyzes user requirement issues through topic analysis based on structural topic modeling. The user review mining process proposed in this study conducted a case study with the a non-face-to-face video conferencing app. Software improvement through user review mining contributes to the user lock-in effect and extending the life cycle of the software. The results of this study will contribute to providing insight on improvement not only for developers, but also for service operators and marketing.

  • Crystal structure of TRAF6 in complex with TRAF6-binding sites from CD40 was previously determined. The structure revealed a distinct TRAF6-binding groove of CD40. the key structural determinant of interaction. The structural information leads to a proposed TRAF6-binding motif. This allows the identification of TRAF6-binding sequences in the hlRAK protein, whose functional requirement in IL-1 mediated signal transduction is further demonstrated using site-directed mutagenesis. The mutational in IL-1 mediated signal transduction is further dimonstrated using site-directed mutagenesis. The mutational effects of hlRAK on the down-stream NF-${\kappa}$ signaling shows the importance of the TRAF6 interface for signaling by IL-1.
