MSS공법으로 시공되는 교량의 설계 모멘트 결정 (Determination of Design Moments in Bridges Constructed by Movable Scaffolding System)

  • 이 논문에서는 이동식 지보를 이용한 MSS공법에 의해 건설되는 콘크리트 교량의 설계 모멘트를 산정하기 위한 관계식을 제안하고 있다. 각 시공 단계에 따른 시간 의존적 거동해석을 통해 교량의 부재력 변화와 처짐 변화를 고찰하였으며 변위와 하중조건을 토대로 한 지배방정식을 구성한 후 복잡한 장기 거동 해석 없이 탄성 해석 결과를 토대로 설계 부재력과 임의의 시간 경과 후 모멘트 변화를 예측할 수 있는 관계식을 구성하였다. 나아가 다양한 예제 해석을 통해 제안한 관계식의 적용성을 검증하였으며 모멘트 포락선을 토대로 보다 합리석인 설계 부재력의 산정 방안을 소개하였다.

교량의 내진성능 향상을 위한 희생부재형 에너지소산장치(EDSD)의 적용에 관한 연구 (Application of Energy-Dissipating Sacrificial Device(EDSD) for Enhancing Seismic Performance of Bridges)

  • A new Energy-Dissipating Sacrificial Device(EDSD) is proposed, which can effectively dissipate the energy stored in the structures during seismic actions. A mathematical 3-D bridge models and analysis techniques are developed to represent the non-linear behavior of the EDSD, various seismic responses of a sample bridge with the EDSD are analyzed in terms of energy, member forces and deformation using the developed analysis method. And the EDSD is tested and certified it's behavior and stability to apply on exiting bridges. The EDSD can be able to dissipate a large amount of energy and therefore it can prevent the pier's excessive forces under seismic excitations and EDSD and its connected members are also stable. Additionally, the method and guidelines of an optimum EDSD design are proposed in terms of installation method and decision of number of EDSD. The Proposed EDSD under seismic excitations can significantly decrease the excessive storing energy in the bridge structures and reduce the relative displacements of each superstructure to the ground. The EDSD is also found to function as a structural fuse under strong ground motions, sacrificing itself to absorb the excessive energy. Consequently, economical enhancement of the seismic performance of bridges can be achieved by employing the newly developed energy dissipation sacrificial device(EDSD).

Experimental axial force identification based on modified Timoshenko beam theory

  • An improved method is presented to estimate the axial force of a bar member with vibrational measurements based on modified Timoshenko beam theory. Bending stiffness effects, rotational inertia, shear deformation, rotational inertia caused by shear deformation are all taken into account. Axial forces are estimated with certain natural frequency and corresponding mode shape, which are acquired from dynamic tests with five accelerometers. In the paper, modified Timoshenko beam theory is first presented with the inclusion of axial force and rotational inertia effects. Consistent mass and stiffness matrices for the modified Timoshenko beam theory are derived and then used in finite element simulations to investigate force identification accuracy under different boundary conditions and the influence of critical axial force ratio. The deformation coefficient which accounts for rotational inertia effects of the shearing deformation is discussed, and the relationship between the changing wave speed and the frequency is comprehensively examined to improve accuracy of the deformation coefficient. Finally, dynamic tests are conducted in our laboratory to identify progressive axial forces of a steel plate and a truss structure respectively. And the axial forces identified by the proposed method are in good agreement with the forces measured by FBG sensors and strain gauges. A significant advantage of this axial force identification method is that no assumption on boundary conditions is needed and excellent force identification accuracy can be achieved.

다목적 최적화 기법을 이용한 편심가새골조의 역량설계 (Capacity Design of Eccentrically Braced Frame Using Multiobjective Optimization Technique)

  • 본 연구에서는 철골편심가새골조 시스템을 대상으로 다목적최적화기법을 통해 설계를 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 최적화 설계를 위해 유전 알고리즘의 일종인 NSGA-II를 활용하였다. 여기서, 목적함수는 이율배반적 관계를 갖는 구조물량과 층간변위로 하여 최소화되고, 제약조건에는 구조기준에서 요구하는 내력비, 링크의 회전각 등을 포함하였다. 제약조건은 최적화 알고리즘 내에서 각 항목을 위반할수록 목적함수 값을 크게 증가시키는 벌금함수의 형태를 가지고 있다. 설계기준에서 EBF 시스템의 설계규정은 링크 부재만 항복이 허용되며 나머지 부재는 링크 항복 시 발생되는 부재력을 탄성상태에서 견디도록 의도한 역량설계법에 기초한다. 그러나 최적화를 통해 도출된 결과 중 일부는 구조기준의 설계조항은 만족하지만 특정층 링크에 소성변형이 집중되어 연약층을 형성함으로써 기준에서 의도하는 역량설계의 원칙을 위배하는 결과가 나타났다. 이를 해결하기 위해 모든 링크의 전단 초과강도계수 중 최대값이 최소값의 1.25배를 넘지 않도록 하는 제약식을 추가하였다. 새로운 제약식을 추가한 경우 모든 최적해는 설계기준과 역량설계의 원칙을 준수하는 것으로 나타났다. 모든 설계안에서 보 경간에 대한 링크의 길이비는 전단링크의 범주에 해당하는 10% ~ 14%였다. 전체적으로 설계안들은 링크의 초과강도 계수비가 가장 지배적인 제약으로 작용하였으며, 구조기준의 요구사항 중 층간변위와 내력비 등의 항목에서 허용치에 비해 매우 보수적으로 설계되었다.

  • Recently, a large number of box girder bridges with cantilevered decks have been constructed. Especially, segmentally erected prestressed concrete box girder bridges are widely used as economic and aesthetic solutions for long span bridges. Segmental erection is a particularly attractive construction alternative in cases where continuously supported formwork is impractical or uneconomical. In segmentally erected bridges, the structural systems are changed as the construction stages are progressive and redistribution of member forces occurs due to time dependent effects of concrete and relaxation of prestressing steel. Then, in segmentally erected bridges, analysis are required at each construction states. In this study, nonlinear analysis progam of the segmentally erected prestressed concrete box girder bridges is developed in taking into account nonlinearity of material and geometry, time dependent effect of concrete and relaxation of prestressing steel.

Ellipsoidal bounds for static response of framed structures against interactive uncertainties

  • This paper presents an optimization-based method for computing a minimal bounding ellipsoid that contains the set of static responses of an uncertain braced frame. Based on a non-stochastic modeling of uncertainty, we assume that the parameters both of brace stiffnesses and external forces are uncertain but bounded. A brace member represents the sum of the stiffness of the actual brace and the contributions of some non-structural elements, and hence we assume that the axial stiffness of each brace is uncertain. By using the $\mathcal{S}$-lemma, we formulate a semidefinite programming (SDP) problem which provides an outer approximation of the minimal bounding ellipsoid. The minimum bounding ellipsoids are computed for a braced frame under several uncertain circumstances.

Inelastic response of multistory buildings under earthquake excitation

  • It is well recognized that structures designed to resist strong ground motions should be able to withstand substantial inelastic deformations. A simple procedure has been developed in this paper to monitor the dynamic earthquake response (time-history analysis) of both steel and concrete multistorey buildings in the inelastic range. The building is treated as a shear beam model with three degrees of freedom per floor. The entire analysis has been programmed to run on a microcomputer and can output time histories of displacements, velocities, accelerations and member internal forces at any desired location. A record of plastic hinge formation and restoration to elastic state is also provided. Such information can be used in aseismic analysis and design of multistorey buildings so as to control the damage and optimize their performance.

  • A computer program was developed for the static analusis of a bridge expansion joint mechanism, which is called lazy-tong joint. I t was modelled as a plane truss and statically determinate structure under the assumption of small expansion in bridge girder. The applied load was assumed as a maxium wheel load exerted by a 40th tandem axied tractor-semitrailer truck. By using the developed computer program, reaction forces, axial and bending stresses, deflections, and critical buckling load, etc. of each structural member were analyzed. And they showed good agreement with those analyzed by the comercial F.E.M S/W, ANSYS.

Behavior of symmetrically haunched non-prismatic members subjected to temperature changes

  • When the temperature of a structure varies, there is a tendency to produce changes in the shape of the structure. The resulting actions may be of considerable importance in the analysis of the structures having non-prismatic members. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the modeling, analysis and behavior of the non-prismatic members subjected to temperature changes with the aid of finite element modeling. The fixed-end moments and fixed-end forces of such members due to temperature changes were computed through a comprehensive parametric study. It was demonstrated that the conventional methods using frame elements can lead to significant errors, and the deviations can reach to unacceptable levels for these types of structures. The design formulas and the dimensionless design coefficients were proposed based on a comprehensive parametric study using two-dimensional plane-stress finite element models. The fixed-end actions of the non-prismatic members having parabolic and straight haunches due to temperature changes can be determined using the proposed approach without necessitating a detailed finite element model solution. Additionally, the robust results of the finite element analyses allowed examining the sources and magnitudes of the errors in the conventional analysis.

  • Exact application of the tensile force is critical to high-tension members in civil engineering structures, and thus actual tensile forces have often been estimated in field. To date, a few methodologies have been presented utilizing static and/or dynamic responses of tension members. Each of these methods has its disadvantages as well as advantages in its procedures, accuracy, and equipment requirements. In this paper, the feasibility of a sensitivity based methodology, based on the relationship between the natural frequencies and the applied tensile force, developed by the authors, is verified using the measured data from a cable-stayed bridge structure. From the results, it is shown that the proposed method can be utilized in estimating the tensile force in tension member of a real structure.
