  • This study tests homogeneity and performs multiple comparison analysis among treatment levels of each factor group through t-test by materials and analysis of variance by structural type and service period. For that descriptive statistical analysis is performed for static and dynamic response characteristics and their ratios of calculated versus measured values based on a good many safety assessment reports for bridges. Homogeneity and post hoc test based on descriptive statistical analysis provide the measures for homogeneity identification among comparison groups in addition to the statistical reference values such as central tendency, variation and shape. This study is expected to be valuable for structural integrity assessment and design by comparing the measured and calculated values with the reference values for the homogeneous group identified, which can help the engineers review the adequacy of the values and put the group database to practical use.

  • Barium titanate owes its great importance to the fact that its dielectric constant is about 100 times higher than that of conventional dielectric materials provided its compositional and structural purity is extremely high. The value of crystalline BaTiO3 bodies as used, for instance, in computer elements, magnetic amplifiers, memory device, ets., depend on boththe compositional and the structural purity of the BaTiO3 crystals. This purity will, in turn, depend on the purity of the raw materials used in manufacturing the BaTiO3 compound and on the particularmethods of manufacture which determine the size, homogeneity, and the structural purity of the crystals. This paper reviews the important theoretical considerations, processing techniques and applications related to sol-gel derived thin films.

  • In this study, a convenient formulation for the bending of laminated composite plates that hold non-homogeneous properties is examined. The constitutive equations of first order shear deformation plate theory are obtained using Hamilton Principle. The effect of non-homogeneity, lamination schemes and aspect ratio on the deflections and stresses is analysed. It is understood from the study that economical and optimum designs for laminated composite plates can be achieved by changing lamination scheme and by considering non-homogeneity response of composite plate.

  • The sample made of $Mn_3O_4$ indicated an excellent frequency dependency for intial permeability and core loss. Moreover the homogeneity of cation configuration in he spinel structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. The result of homogeneity of the spinel structural coincided with the analytical results of temperature dependence of magnetization. Furthermore, the influence of manganese oxide as starting material, on homogeneity of spinel structure was examined by using thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis. It may be concluded that the reaction between $Mn_3O_4$ and Fe-Zn oxide mixture proceeds at fist in all combination of manganese oxide and oxie mixture, and then Mn-Zn-Fe spinel was formed.

  • In the present study, separate and combined effects of rotary inertia, shear deformation and material non-homogeneity (MNH) on the values of natural frequencies of the simply supported beam are examined. MNH is characterized considering the parabolic variations of the Young's modulus and density along the thickness direction of the beam, while the value of Poisson's ratio is assumed to remain constant. At first, the equation of the motion including the effects of the rotary inertia, shear deformation and MNH is provided. Then the solutions including frequencies of the first three modes for various combinations of the parameters of the MNH, depth to length ratios, and shear corrections factors are reported. To show the accuracy of the present results, two comparisons are carried out and good agreements are found.

  • In this article, an analytical solution of the dynamical behavior in an orthotropic non-homogeneity elastic material using for elastodynamics equations is investigated. The effects of the magnetic field, the initial stress, and the non-homogeneity on the radial displacement and the corresponding stresses in an orthotropic material are investigated. The analytical solution for the elastodynamic equations has solved regarding displacements. The variation of the stresses, the displacement, and the perturbation magnetic field have shown graphically. Comparisons are made with the previous results in the absence of the magnetic field, the initial stress, and the non-homogeneity. The present study has engineering applications in the fields of geophysical physics, structural elements, plasma physics, and the corresponding measurement techniques of magneto-elasticity.

  • The Upper Devonian Grossmont Formation in Alberta, Canada reserves an estimated 50 billion cubic meters of bitumen and possess about 1/6 of the total bitumen resources in northern Alberta. However, unlike the overlying Athabasca oil sands, non conventional bitumen resources has not been developed as yet. The carbonate rocks of Grosmont Formation have been subject to various stages of diagenesis, including dolomatization and karstification with a strong effect on the distribution of porosity and permeability, which resulted in highly heterogeneous reservoirs. An extensive fracture logging and mapping was performed on total of six boreholes located in the study area to explore the characteristics of fracture geometry system and the subsurface structures of carbonates reservoir that holds bitumen. Fractal dimension was used as a measure of the statistical homogeneity of the fractured rock masses. The applicability of random Cantor dust, Dc, as a fractal parameter was examined systematically. The statistical homogeneity of fractured carbonates rock masses was investigated in the study area. The structural domains of the rock masses were delineated depthwise according to estimated Dc. The major fracture orientation was dominated by horizontal beddings having dip of $0-20^{\circ}$. Also, fractures having high dip angles existed with relatively low frequency. Three dimensional fracture network modeling for each structural domain has been performed based on fracture orientation and intensity, and some representative conceptual models for carbonates reservoir in the study area has been proposed. The developed subsurface conceptual models will be used to capture the geomechanical characteristics of the carbonates reservoir.

  • Vibration analysis for some of simple supported antisymmetric composite laminated plate loaded uniform axial-loading and attached mass was carried out. Because it is complicated to analyze this type of plate by theory of antisymmetric laminate possibility for application of theory of special orthotropic laminate was studied, and natural frequency of laminated plate attached mass was calculated. Stiffness $B_{16}$, $B_{26}$, $D_{16}$, $D_{26}$ for this type of antisymmetric laminated plate converge on zero as the number of ply increases and it is possible to use classical theory by reason that considered plate has quasi-homogeneity without relevance to variation of angle. Difference between results by theory of antisymmetric and special orthotropic laminate is 0.36~1.96%, therefore it is convenient to analyze this by use of theory of special orthotropic laminate. When composite laminated plate with attached mass is analyzed range that Was able to neglect self-weight of plate was proposed.

  • The present investigation is concerned with a study effect of magnetic field and non-homogenous on the elastic stresses in rotating orthotropic infinite circular cylinder. A certain boundary conditions closed form stress fields solutions are obtained for rotating orthotropic cylinder under initial magnetic field with constant thickness for three cases: (1) Solid cylinder, (2) Cylinder with a circular hole at the center, (3) Cylinder mounted on a circular rigid shaft. Analytical expressions for the components of the displacement and stress fields in different cases are obtained. The effect of rotation and magnetic field and non-homogeneity on the displacement and stress fields are studied. Numerical results are illustrated graphically for each case. The effects of rotating and magnetic field and non-homogeneity are discussed.

  • In this study, the stability of laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells with freely supported edges under a uniform hydrostatic pressure is investigated. It is assumed that the composite material is orthotropic and the material properties depend only on the thickness coordinate. The basic relations, the modified Donnell type stability and compatibility equations have been obtained for laminated non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells. Applying Galerkin method to the foregoing equations, the expression for the critical hydrostatic pressure is obtained. The appropriate formulas for the single-layer and laminated, cylindrical and complete conical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Finally, effects of non-homogeneity, number and ordering of layers and variations of shell characteristics on the critical hydrostatic pressure are investigated.
