This paper deals with the detection, feature extraction and classification of surface defects in cold rolled strips. Inspection systems are one of the most important fields in factory automation. Defects such as slipmark and dullmark can be effectively detected with a Gaussian matched filter because their shapes are similar to Gaussian. It is justified that the proposed WF(Wavelet Frame) method could be regarded as multiscale Gaussian matched filter which can be applied to the inspection of cold rolled strip. After a wavelet frame transform, the entropies and moments are computed for each subband which pass through both local low pass filter and nonlinear operator. With these features as input, a MLP(Multi Layer Perceptron) is used as a classifier. The proposed inspection method was applied to the real images with defects, and hence showed good performance. The role of each extracted feature is analyzed by KLT(Karhunen-Loeve Transform).

The strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) columns by steel angles and strips (steel cage) is one of various techniques available to increase ultimate column load. Different authors have shown the influence of the beam-column joint on the behaviour of columns strengthened by steel cages. This paper presents an experimental study carried out at the Universidad Polit$\acute{e}$cnica de Valencia with the aim of analysing two different techniques to solve the strengthening close to the joint and the influence on the behaviour of RC columns strengthened steel cages. The ultimate loads obtained in the laboratory tests for these two techniques are compared to that specified by Eurocode 4.
Staphylococcus hyicus subsp. hyicus strains isolated from pigs, chickens and cattle were examined for the production of staphylokinase after inhibition of staphylococcal proteases by two procedures with EDTA(disodium). In one, EDTA was added to the bovine fibrin-dog plasminogen agar medium in concentration of 0.07% and paper strips soaked in 2mg/ml soy bean trypsin inhibitor were then applied on the agar plates. In the other, paper strips soaked in 5% EDTA solution were applied on the bovine fibrin-dog plasminogen agar plates and the strains to be tested were then streaked at right angles with the strip. By these procedures, staphylokinase activity was detected in 8(88.9%) of 9 strains from diseased pigs and in 57(80.3%) of 71 strains from skin of healthy pigs, but not in any strains from skin of healthy chickens and milk samples of mastitic cattle. Additionally kinase activity in 9 Staphylococcus species and subspecies isolated from bovine intramammary infections was also tested by these procedures. Staphylokinase activity was detected in 74.2% of Staph aureus strains and in 25% of Staph xylosus strains.

The use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) to strengthen reinforced concrete beams under bending and shear has gained rapid growth in recent years. The performance of shear strengthened beams with externally bonded CFRP laminate or fabric strips is raising many concerns when the beam is loaded under cyclic loading. Such concerns warrant experimental, analytical and numerical investigation of such beams under cyclic loading. To date, limited investigations have been carried out to address this concern. This paper presents a numerical investigation by developing a nonlinear finite element (FE) model to study the response of a cantilever reinforced concrete T-beam strengthened in shear with side bonded CFRP fabric strips and subjected to cyclic loading. A detailed 3D nonlinear finite element model that takes into account the orthotropic nature of the polymer's fibers is developed. In order to simulate the bond between the CFRP sheets and concrete, a layer having the material properties of the adhesive epoxy resin is introduced in the model as an interface between the CFRP sheets and concrete surface. Appropriate numerical modeling strategies were used and the response envelope and the load-displacement hysteresis loops of the FE model were compared with the experimental response at all stages of the cyclic loading. It is observed that the responses of the FE beam model are in good agreement with those of the experimental test. A parametric study was conducted using the validated FE model to investigate the effect of spacing between CFRP sheets, number of CFRP layers, and fiber orientation on the overall performance of the T-beam. It is concluded that successful FE modeling provides a practical and economical tool to investigate the behavior of such strengthened beams when subjected to cyclic loading.

The possibility of adopting vibration-powered wireless nodes has been largely investigated in the last years. Among the available technologies based on the piezoelectric effect, the most common ones consist of a vibrating beam covered by electroactive layers. Another energy harvesting strategy is based on the use of piezoelectric strips attached to a hosting structure subjected to dynamic loads. The hosting structure, for example, can be the system to be equipped with wireless nodes. Such strategy has received few attentions so far and no analytical studies have been presented yet. Hence, the original contribution of the present paper is concerned with the development of analytical solutions for the electrodynamic analysis and design of piezoelectric polymeric strips attached to relatively large linear elastic structural systems subjected to random vibrations at the base. Specifically, it is assumed that the dynamics of the hosting structure is dominated by the fundamental vibration mode only, and thus it is reduced to a linear elastic single-degree-of-freedom system. On the other hand, the random excitation at the base of the hosting structure is simulated by filtering a white Gaussian noise through a linear second-order filter. The electromechanical force exerted by the polymeric strip is negligible compared with other forces generated by the large hosting structure to which it is attached. By assuming a simplified electrical interface, useful new exact analytical expressions are derived to assess the generated electric power and the integrity of the harvester as well as to facilitate its optimum design.
In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of modelling image strips, instead of individual scenes, that have been acquired from the same orbital pass through the process of bundle adjustments. Under this approach, First, a rational function model (RFM) of the strip image is generated from the RFMs of individual images, such that the entire strip of images can be treated as a single image. Correction parameters are calculated through bundle adjustments between strip images. For the experiment, we used two stereo strips. Each strip image consists of three KOMPSAT-3A scenes. Experimental results show that it was possible to improve the initial model by using the control points located in a specific region of the strip. We showed that absolute orientation with moderate accuracy of 2 m errors were achieved from 12 ground control points for the three-image strips. The test results indicate that bundle adjustment of strip images could be more efficient than bundle adjustments of the individual scenes.

In this paper, the impact of the copper densities of substrate layers on IC package warpage is studied experimentally and numerically. The substrate strips used in this study contained two metal layers, with the metal densities and patterns of these two layers varied to determine their impacts. Eight legs of substrate strips were prepared. Leg 1 to leg 5 were prepared with a HD (high density) type of strip and leg 6 to leg 8 were prepared with UHD (ultra high density) type of strip. The top copper metal layer was designed to feature meshed patterns and the bottom copper layer was designed to feature circular patterns. In order to consider the process factors, the warpage of the substrate bottom was measured step by step with the following manufacturing process: (a) bare substrate, (b) die attach, (c) applying mold compound (d) and post reflow. Furthermore, after the post reflow step, the substrate strips were diced to obtain unit packages and the warpage of the unit packages was measured to check the warpage trends and differences. The experimental results showed that the warpage trend is related to the copper densities. In addition to the experiments, a Finite Element Modeling (FEM) was used to simulate the warpage. The nonlinear material properties of mold compound, die attach, solder mask, and substrate core were included in the simulation. Through experiment and simulation, some observations were concluded.
This study poses questions on the role of a movie sequences partially deployed in the comic strips style in the movie. Though both the movie and the comic strips's image is expressed in the flat space, it is different to the reciever's manner in the interpretation of the media's narrative. Comic strip has a media's characteristic of the aggressive interpretation. It can be create the objective and critic point of view for an audience as the visual style in the ideology movie. Comic strip Style has a flat frame, a form of comic strip's mise-en-scene, montage and camera working. This paper studies expression of 'La Chinoise' using 'Comic strip style' for the objective point of view.

This paper deals with the free vibrations of circular strip foundations which have uniform solid rectangular cross-section. The ground which supports circular strips was modeled as the two parameter elastic foundation. Differential equations governing the flexural-torsional free vibrations of circular strips supported by such foundation were derived, and solved numerically for obtaining the natural frequencies and mode shapes. Boundary condition of free-free ends was considered for numerical examples. Four lowest natural frequencies according to the variations of five system parameters i.e. subtended angle, depth ratio, contact ratio, elasticity ratio and soil parameter are reported in the non-dimensional forms. Also, typical mode shapes of both deformations and stress resultants are presented in the figures. Experiment was conducted for validating the theory developed in this study.

This paper presents a turbulence modeling of the open-channel flows over smooth-rough bed strips. A Reynolds stress model is used for the turbulence closure. The simulated mean flow and turbulence structures are compared with the previously reported experimental data. Comparisons reveal that the developed Reynolds stress model successfully predicts the mean flow and turbulence structures of open-channel flows over smooth-rough bed strips. The computed flow vectors show cellular secondary currents, of which the upflow occurs over the smooth bed strip and the downflow over the rough bed strip. It is found that the cellular secondary currents affect the mean flow and turbulence structure. A budget analysis of the streamwise vorticity equation is also carried out to investigate the mechanism by which the secondary currents are generated.
