Efficient Construction of Generalized Suffix Arrays by Merging Suffix Arrays (써픽스 배열 합병을 이용한 일반화된 써픽스 배열의 효율적인 구축 알고리즘)

  • We consider constructing the generalized suffix way of strings A and B when the suffix arrays of A and B are given, j.e., merging two suffix arrays of A and B. There are efficient algorithms to merge some special suffix arrays such as the odd array and the even array. However, for the general case that A and B are arbitrary strings, no efficient merging algorithms have been developed. Thus, one had to construct the generalized suffix arrays of A and B by constructing the suffix array of A$\#$B$\$$ from scratch, even though the suffix ways of A and B are given. In this paper, we Present efficient merging algorithms for the suffix arrays of two arbitrary strings A and B drawn from constant and integer alphabets. The experimental results show that merging two suffix ways of A and B are about 5 times faster than constructing the suffix way of A$\#$B$\$$ from scratch for constant alphabets. Our algorithms include searching all suffixes of string B in the suffix array of A. To do this, we use suffix links in suffix ways and we developed efficient algorithms for computing the suffix links. Efficient computation of suffix links is another contribution of this paper because it can be used to solve other problems occurred in bioinformatics that should search all suffixes of a given string in the suffix array of another string such as computing matching statistics, finding longest common substrings, and so on. The experimental results show that our methods for computing suffix links is about 3-4 times faster than the previous fastest methods.

Suggestion of the morphological characteristic parameters according to the Lee's physical constitution theory using X-ray computed tomography (X선 CT화상을 이용한 사상체질의 형태학적 특징 파라메타의 제안)

  • In this paper the morphological characteristic parameters according to the Lee's physical constitution theory are suggested using the X-ray computed tomography. The Lee's physical constitution theory is classify into 4 physical constitutional types by the relative degree of visceral function: those are macro-negative(strong liver- weak lung), micro-negative(strong kidney- weak spleen), micro-positive(strong spleen- weak kidney) and macro-positive(string lung- weak liver). The morphological characteristic parameters are the following. The AA-line is the distance between Rt. & Lt. acupuncture point keug-cheun. The BB-line is the length of lung. The CC-line is the longest width of thorax. The DD-line is the vertical distance between the CC-line and the EE-line. The EE-line is the distance between the Rt. and Lt. anterior superior iliac spines. As the results macro-negative(strong liver-weak lung) has the longest CC-line and the short BB-line. Micro-negative(strong kidney-weak spleen) has the longest EE-line and the short CC-line. Micro-positive(strong spleen-weak kidney) has the longest DD-line and the short BB-line. And macro-positive(strong lung-weak kidney) has the longest BB-line and the short EE-line.

  • 'Pattern' is the term that is frequently used in the aspects of history, society, and science. It always appears in the remains or relics of the age of civilization when recording was started, and its evaluation and value differ by time. Patterns in the ancient civilization were symbolic, social, and spatially crucial. However, after the modernization, they were considered to be immoral and unnecessary, so the range of their significance came to reduce. Due to the development of science, ornament patterns lost the limitation of its range of use along with new interpretation of them. Especially with the advent of new scientific theories such as the evolution theory from the biological aspect, quantum mechanics, and super string theory, morphological possibilities more than the human scale perceived by men came to be discovered. Living organisms maintain their lives through patterns, structures, and processes in order to produce a system alive. Among them, patterns are the organization of relations determining the characteristics of the system. The present patterns may correspond to this meaning. The pattern in a space is the matter of how to relate the components after all. In a space, however, there are numerous components mingled with one another. If these tasks are conducted as analogue work, it will take a lot of time and effort. However, if digital media are utilized to perform the tasks like analysis, generation, or fabrication, it will produce a result with higher precision and efficiency. In this sense, parametric modeling is quite useful media. Opening morphological variation, it realizes more possibilities, connects conveniently the relations between complex components composing a space, and helps produce creative patterns.

Estimating Tensile Force of Hangers in Suspension Bridges Using Frequency Based SI Technique : III. Experimental Verification (진동기반의 SI 기법을 이용한 현수교 행어의 장력 추정 : III. 실험적 검증)

  • This paper introduces an experimental verification of a tension estimation method based on system identification approach for a double hanger system on a suspension bridge. A laboratory model of such double hanger system has been made for this study. Total nine cases of the vibration tests have been conducted with respect to three levels of applied tension and three cases of the location of clamp. For a set of the collected acceleration response data, modal analysis has been followed in order to extract the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the selected cable systems. For the extracted modal parameters, the existing tension estimation methods based on the string theory and axially loaded beam theory have been firstly applied to estimate the tensile force on the double hanger cable system. Next, the tensile force on cables has been estimated by the system identification approach. It is seen that the errors in the tension estimation using the frequency-based system identification technique are about 3% for all cases while the estimation error using the existing method is up to 53.1%.

Edit Distance Problem for the Korean Alphabet (한글에 대한 편집 거리 문제)

  • The edit distance problem is finding the minimum number of edit operations to transform a string into another one. It is one of the important problems in algorithm research and there are some algorithms that compute an optimal edit distance for the one-dimensional languages such as the English alphabet. However, there are a few researches to find the edit distance for the more complicated language such as the Korean or Chinese alphabet. In this paper, we define the measure of the edit distance for the Korean alphabet and present an algorithm for the edit distance problem for the Korean alphabet.

  • The rank/select data structure is a basic tool of succinct representations for several data structures such as trees, graphs and text indexes. For a given string sequence, it is used to answer the occurrence of characters up to a certain position. In previous studies, theoretical rank/select data structures were proposed, but they didn't support practical operational time and space. In this paper, we propose a simple solution for implementing rank/select data structures efficiently. According to experiments, our methods without complex encodings achieve nH$_0$ + O(n) bits of theoretical size and perform rank/select operations faster than the original HSS data structure.

  • In this paper, a parameter optimization technique for a mobile robot navigation is discussed. Authors already have proposed a navigation algorithm for mobile robots with sonar sensors using fuzzy decision making theory. Fuzzy decision making selects the optimal via-point utilizing membership values of each via-point candidate for fuzzy navigation goals. However, to make a robot successfully navigate through an unknown and cluttered environment, one needs to adjust parameters of membership function, thus changing shape of MF, for each fuzzy goal. Furthermore, the change in robot configuration, like change in sensor arrangement or sensing range, invokes another adjusting of MFs. To accomplish an intelligent way to adjust these parameters, we adopted a genetic algorithm, which does not require any formulation of the problem, thus more appropriate for robot navigation. Genetic algorithm generates the fittest parameter set through crossover and mutation operation of its string representation. The fitness of a parameter set is assigned after a simulation run according to its time of travel, accumulated heading angle change and collision. A series of simulations for several different environments is carried out to verify the proposed method. The results show the optimal parameters can be acquired with this method.

  • Purpose: While there are a number of studies on children with disabilities, there have been few studies on mothers of children with autism. The purpose of this study was to explore the process of life transition of mothers who have children with autism. Methods: From June 2007 to May 2009, the researcher interviewed 15 mothers of children with autism living in Seoul City, Gyeonggi or Chonbuk Provinces, and then analyzed the data gathered using the constant comparative method of grounded theory. Results: "Living together holding a string of fate" was a core category showing along the continuum of life. The basic social process of life transition encompassed 5 stages: stages of denying, wandering, devoting, mind controlling, and finally accepting. These five stages proceeded in phases, though returned back to the wandering stage occasionally. Conclusion: This study has opened the door to understanding how mothers of children with autism experienced life transition. The findings suggest that differentiated support and care at each stage should be given and there is the need to develop transition assessment tools for mothers of children with autism.

  • In this paper, we classify and present AI algorithms and natural language processing methods used in chatbots. A framework that can be used to implement a chatbot is also described. A chatbot is a system with a structure that interprets the input string by constructing the user interface in a conversational manner and selects an appropriate answer to the input string from the learned data and outputs it. However, training is required to generate an appropriate set of answers to a question and hardware with considerable computational power is required. Therefore, there is a limit to the practice of not only developing companies but also students learning AI development. Currently, chatbots are replacing the existing traditional tasks, and a practice course to understand and implement the system is required. RNN and Char-CNN are used to increase the accuracy of answering questions by learning unstructured data by applying technologies such as deep learning beyond the level of responding only to standardized data. In order to implement a chatbot, it is necessary to understand such a theory. In addition, the students presented examples of implementation of the entire system by utilizing the methods that can be used for coding education and the platform where existing developers and students can implement chatbots.
