Purpose: The purpose of this study was to contribute to enhancing elementary school health teachers professional job performance by analyzing their job identity and job stress. Methods: The participants were 138 elementary school health teachers registered at the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, and the survey was conducted from the 22nd to 23rd of July, 2010. The collected data were analyzed by percentile, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The average percentiles of job identity and job stress were 70.6 and 64.0 respectively. Among the sub-factors of job identity, autonomy was highest as 73.5, and among the sub-factors of job stress, job demand was highest as 73.9. There were significant differences in the degree of job identity and job stress according to education status, the number of classes, job satisfaction, enthusiasm for work, and the image of nursing teachers expressed in a word. The regression model explained 21.2% of the variance of job identity. job stress explained 32.0% of the variance. Conclusion: It is important to develop various comprehensive programs for improving job identity and managing job stress. In addition, it is necessary to provide support systems including persons, promotion and rewards to school health teachers.

Objective: This study was carried out to examine factors influencing job stress and health promotion behavior of medical doctors, who play the important role for improving people's health. The data were collected from 340 medical doctors working in clinic and hospitals in Daegu using self-administered questionnaires over the period from July 1 to August 15, 2018. Methods: A multiple regression model was used to study the factors influencing job stress and health promotion behavior of medical doctors. Results: This study showed that average job stress level of the subjects was 3.06 out of 5 point. The medical doctors with carrying out surgery and longer working time tend to have higher job stress level compared to other groups without surgery and having short working time. And medical doctors generally do not have good health promotion behavior and average level of practice of health promotion behavior of the subjects was 2.30 out of 5. The groups with high rate of quitting job and working in hospital tend to have lower practice level of health promotion behavior compared to other groups. And it also showed that the groups with higher the job satisfaction rate and vocational aptitude tended to have the higher level of practice of health promotion behavior compared with other groups. Conclusions: Medical doctors tend to have higher job stress level, whereas they have relatively lower health promotion behavior compared with people with other jobs. Thus, strengthening of health education and counselling for medical doctors and improvement of work environment considering job's characteristics is needed. In particular, the education for job stress management and health promotion in regular continuing education program organized by medical doctors's association should be strengthened.

Background: Safety climate and occupational stress are related with occupational accident. The present study tried to identify the differences in safety climate and occupational stress according to occupational accidents experience and employment type (e.g., direct workers and subcontract workers). Methods: In this study, we conducted a survey using safety climate scale and Korean Occupational Stress Scale and classified the participants into four groups: direct workers working for accident-free departments, direct workers working for accident departments, subcontract workers working for accident-free departments, and subcontract workers working for accident departments for 2 years within the same workplace in the shipbuilding industry. Results: The direct workers and subcontract workers showed diverse results in subscales of safety climate and occupational stress. This result is supported by existing studies; however, further study is necessary for more supporting evidence and elaborative methodological approach. Conclusion: The necessity of management for safety climate and psychosocial factor such as occupational stress for both direct workers and subcontract workers as a whole is suggested by this study.
The purpose of the study was to identify the mediating effects of health promoting lifestyle in the relationship between life stress and adaptation to college life of health department college students. The data was collected for 10 days form sept. 3 to 14, 2012. Among a total of 351 cases of questionaries, only 342 cases were used. To data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and a hierarchical multiple regression analysis as suggested by Baron and Kenny(1986) using PASW statistics 18.0. From the analyses, there was a negative relationship between life stress and adaptation to college life but a positive relationship between health promoting lifestyle and adaptation to college life. There was a partial mediating effect of health promoting lifestyle between life stress and adaptation to college life. The results indicate a need to develop programs that effectively promote the health promoting lifestyle of health department college students to decrease life stress and maximize adaptation to college life.

Purpose: Health behaviors for metabolic syndrome (MetS) prevention should be emphasized from early adulthood. There is little information on psychosocial factors associated with health behaviors for MetS prevention. The aim of this study was to determine whether there would be a mediating effect of perceived stress on the association between social support and health behaviors for MetS prevention among university students. Methods: This cross-sectional and correlation study was conducted with 502 university students in South Korea. Social support, perceived stress, and lifestyle evaluation for metabolic syndrome scales were used. Online questionnaire survey was conducted between November and December 2019. The mediating effect of social support on health behaviors for MetS prevention was analyzed using PROCESS macro program with bootstrapping method to test our hypotheses. Results: Social support directly influenced perceived stress (β=-.35, p<.001) and health behaviors for MetS prevention (β=.14, p=.002). Health behaviors for MetS prevention was indirectly influenced by perceived stress (β=-.25, p<.001). The size of indirect effect of social support on health behaviors for MetS prevention was 0.06. Conclusions: The association of social support and health behaviors for MetS prevention was partially mediated by perceived stress among university students. Therefore, a university-based nursing intervention should comprise social support strategies with stress management to promote health behaviors for MetS prevention.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the bone mineral density (BMD), body mass index (BMI), stress, and health promotion lifestyle of female college students and to assess relations among them. Methods: A total of 220 female college students were assessed through anthropometric measurements and bone mineral density test using quantitative ultrasound. In addition, the subjects were asked about stress and health promotion lifestyle with a self-rating questionnaire. Collected data were processed with the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Results: 1) Of the students, 67.8% had weight control experience. The percentage of the osteoporosis, osteopenia and normal groups were 2.8%, 53.5% and 43.8%, respectively, and the percentage of the underweight, normal and overweight groups according to BMI were 27.9%, 57.2% and 14.9%, respectively. 2) The levels of stress and health promotion lifestyle were 2.9 and 2.3, respectively. 3) There was a positive correlation between BMD and BMI (r=.196, p<.01). There was a negative correlation between stress and health promotion lifestyle (r=-.35, p<.01). 4) Weight control experience made negative effects on BMD and BMI. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest the necessity of new health promotion programs to increase bone density of female college students. Stress management programs are also needed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of stress, health problems, absenteeism, productivity and presenteeism in Korean and Japanese workers. Methods : Data was collected from April 12 to July 18, 2008 in both countries. The content of questionnaires was demographic factors, stress and the Stanford Presenteeism Scale. Korean data from 810 workers was collected and Japanese data from 822 workers was collected by same questionnaires of both language. SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0 programs were used for data analysis. Results : The major health problems in relation to the impaired presenteeism of Korean workers were dizziness, allergy, headache and dysmenorrhea, and for Japanese workers were arthritis, depression, and diabetes mellitus. Impaired presenteeism was increasing when the numbers of health problems were increasing in both countries. In Korean workers, job-related stress and the numbers of health problems directly affected presenteeism. In Japanese workers, job-related stress, life-related stress and the numbers of health problems directly affected presenteeism. Conclusions : Health managers should include physical and psychological health management programs for presenteeism control in workplace. They can obtain a greater benefit through both programs.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify Korean high school students' health behaviors and perceived stress and to examine effects of their health behaviors on their stress perception. Methods: The subjects were 33,744 high school students who participated in the 11th Korea youth risk behavior web-based survey 2015 in Korea. Data were analyzed using complex samples analysis with the PASW 18.0 program. The questionnaire utilized in this study is designed to find the subjects' general characteristics, health behaviors, and perceived stress. Results: The prevalence of subjects with high level stress was 38.9% (n=13,137) in this study. There were significant differences in the general characteristics and stress perception among the Korean high school students in terms of gender, grade, school achievement, family's affluence, mother's education, perceived happiness, perceived health status, and stressor. The variables of health behaviors of Korean high school students were significantly different from stress perception. Under complex samples logistic regression, predictive factors of stress for the high school students include gender, grade, father's education, family's affluence, living arrangement, perceived health status, perceived happiness, current smoking, current alcohol experience, and enough sleep. Conclusion: The study suggests multilateral efforts are needed to help high school students' stress management including health behaviors for high school students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of stress, perceived health status and Yangsaeng in Korean part-time college students. Yangsaeng is a traditional health care regimen that incorporates specific principles and methods to promote health and prevent illness, with the aim of improving the health and longevity of life. Method: The subjects of this study were 158 part-time college students in Korea. Data were collected by using a self-reported questionnaire on-line. Analysis of data included descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and Cronbach's $\alpha$. Result: Statistically significant differences were evident in stress according to age, spouse, job, and income. Statistically significant differences were evident in perceived health status according to gender and job. Statistically significant differences were evident in Yangsaeng according to age, job, and income. Yangsaeng positively related to perceived health status and negatively related to stress. Conclusion: The Yangsaeng oriental health care regimen could lower stress levels and maintain a good health perception. Therefore, Yangsaeng could be recommended as a means of health promotion in Korean part-time college students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify visiting nurses' occupational satisfaction and their stress who are working at district health centers in Chungnam province. Methods: The subjects of the study were 109 visiting nurses of 16 district health centers in Chungnam province. The data were collected by self report questionnaires from March 1 to 31, 2010. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, ANOVA (Sheffe's test), and correlation coefficient using the SPSS program. Results: The results of this study were as follows. The occupational stress level of the subjects was 46.7 and the level of subjects' occupational satisfaction was 2.46. There was a significant negative correlation between occupational satisfaction and occupational stress (r=-.627). Conclusion: The occupational stress level of the subjects, and stress levels of 'work environment', 'job insecurity' and 'organizational structure' were higher than those of the Korean women workers' standard. The level of subjects' occupational satisfaction was lower than that of the nurse practitioners. There was a significant correlation among occupational stress and 'burden of workload' and 'visiting nurse career'. The study showed that occupational stress was correlated with occupational satisfaction. The results suggest that further follow-up study on visiting nurse is necessary to relieve their occupational stress and increase occupational satisfaction.
