Acetobacter pasteurianus SRCM60009로 발효한 딸기 식초의 품질특성 및 생리활성 (Quality characteristics and physiological activities of strawberry vinegars using Acetobacter pasteurianus SRCM60009)

  • 고부가가치 딸기 식초를 개발하고 이를 다양한 식품에 활용하기 위해 딸기 발효에 적합한 초산균을 선발하여 딸기 식초를 제조하고 품질 특성 및 생리활성을 분석하였다. A. pasteurianus 균주를 이용하여 딸기 식초를 제조하여 균주별 발효 특성을 조사한 결과 SRCM 60009 균주로 발효 후 산도가 가장 높은 결과를 보여 A. pasteurianus SRCM 60009 균주가 딸기 식초용 발효균주로 최종 선발되었다. SRCM 60009 균주로 제조한 딸기 발효식초의 품질특성은 발효 9일차에 pH 2.86, 산도 4.20%, 생균수 8.56 log CFU/mL를 나타내었다. 발효기간에 따라 딸기 식초의 유리당은 감소하는 경향을 보였고, 유기산은 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 딸기 식초의 생리활성은 α-glucosidase 저해(AGI) 활성, pancreatic lipase 저해(PLI) 활성, angiotensin converting enzyme I (ACE) 저해활성을 분석하였다. 딸기 식초는 65.13%의 AGI 활성을 보였으나, 딸기 착즙액을 발효하지 않은 대조구에서는 55.18%의 활성을 나타내었다. PLI 활성을 확인한 결과 딸기 식초는 75.40%, 대조구는 35.79%의 활성을 보였고, ACE 저해 활성은 딸기식초는 70.58%, 대조구는 46.40%의 활성을 보였으며, 그 결과는 모두 유의차가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 이와 같이 딸기를 발효하여 식초로 이용함으로써 딸기를 발효하지 않고 섭취하는 것에 보다 다양한 기능성을 확인할 수 있었으며 동시에 전통 발효식품인 식초에 딸기의 맛과 향이 더해진 딸기 식초를 제조하였다. 이를 토대로 향후 다양한 소비자들의 기호를 충족시킬 수 있는 발효식초 및 발효식초를 활용한 응용제품의 개발이 필요하며, 이에 따른 추가적인 연구가 지속되어야 할 것 으로 사료된다.

  • 스마트팜형 시설 딸기에 예찰 없이 작물 정식 초기에 천적을 먼저 적용하는 생태공학적 Natural Enemy in First (NEF) 기법이 총채벌레류와 진딧물류의 밀도에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 대조구는 약제를 처리하여 비교하였다. NEF 처리구에서 총채벌레류와 진딧물류의 천적과 서식처로 참멋애꽃노린재와 Portulaca sp.를 적용하여 작기 종료시점까지 해충의 밀도를 대조구와 유사하게 효과적으로 관리할 수 있었다.

한국 딸기산업의 글로벌 가치사슬 통합 과정: 진주시 농업인을 중심으로 (Global Value Chain Integration in the Korean Strawberry Industry: Focusing on Farmers in Jinju)

  • 농촌 개발 전략의 일환으로 글로벌 가치사슬로의 통합이 주목받고 있지만, 특정 통합이 성공 혹은 실패하는 원인과 메커니즘에 대해서는 알려진 바가 적다. 본 연구는 딸기 수출시장에서 진주지역의 농업인들이 생산자 주도적 가치사슬 거버넌스를 구축한 메커니즘과 그와 동반된 사회환경적 변화를 탐구했다. 이를 위해 딸기 가치 사슬의 특성을 분석했으며, 지대 이론에 의거해 진주와 논산을 비교 분석했다. 5개월에 걸친 현장조사와 이해관계자 심층 인터뷰 결과, 진주에서는 수출가능한 품종과 해당 품종에 적합한 지역 기후 조건으로 인해 자연적 진입장벽을 구축함으로써 수출시장에서의 경제적 지대를 창출했음을 확인했다. 또한 생산자 조직화를 통해 독점 지대와 국가 지원에서 비롯된 추가 수익을 유지했다. 수평적으로 연결된 농민들은 무역업체에 대한 협상력을 높이고 회원 가입을 통제하여 국가 지원에 대한 접근을 관리함으로써 생산자 주도적 가치사슬 내 지위를 공고화했다.

Epidemiology and Control of Strawberry Bacterial Angular Leaf Spot Disease Caused by Xanthomonas fragariae

  • Strawberry bacterial angular leaf spot (ALS) disease, caused by Xanthomonas fragariae has become increasingly problematic in the strawberry agro-industry. ALS causes small angular water-soaked lesions to develop on the abaxial leaf surface. Studies reported optimum temperature conditions for X. fragariae are $20^{\circ}C$ and the pathogen suffers mortality above $32^{\circ}C$. However, at the nursery stage, disease symptoms have been observed under high temperature conditions. In the present study, results showed X. fragariae transmission was via infected maternal plants, precipitation, and sprinkler irrigation systems. Systemic infections were detected using X. fragariae specific primers 245A/B and 295A/B, where 300-bp and 615-bp were respectively amplified. During the nursery stage (from May to August), the pathogen was PCR detected only in maternal plants, but not in soil or irrigation water through the nursery stage. During the cultivation period, from September to March, the pathogen was detected in maternal plants, progeny, and soil, but not in water. Additionally, un-infected plants, when planted with infected plants were positive for X. fragariae via PCR at the late cultivation stage. Chemical control for X. fragariae with oxolinic acid showed 87% control effects against the disease during the nursery period, in contrast to validamycin-A, which exhibited increased efficacy against the disease during the cultivation stage (control effect 95%). To our knowledge, this is the first epidemiological study of X. fragariae in Korean strawberry fields.

Differential Inhibitory Activities of Four Plant Essential Oils on In Vitro Growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fragariae Causing Fusarium Wilt in Strawberry Plants

  • The objective of this study was to determine inhibitory activities of four volatile plant essential oils (cinnamon oil, fennel oil, origanum oil and thyme oil) on in vitro growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fragariae causing Fusarium wilt of strawberry plants. Results showed that these essential oils inhibited in vitro conidial germination and mycelial growth of F. oxysporum f. sp. fragariae in a dose-dependent manner. Cinnamon oil was found to be most effective one in suppressing conidial germination while fennel oil, origanum oil and thyme oil showed moderate inhibition of conidial germination at similar levels. Cinnamon oil, origanum oil and thyme oil showed moderate antifungal activities against mycelial growth at similar levels while fennel oil had relatively lower antifungal activity against mycelial growth. Antifungal effects of these four plant essential oils in different combinations on in vitro fungal growth were also evaluated. These essential oils demonstrated synergistic antifungal activities against conidial germination and mycelial growth of F. oxysporum f. sp. fragariae in vitro. Simultaneous application of origanum oil and thyme oil enhanced their antimicrobial activities against conidial germination and fungal mycelial growth. These results underpin that volatile plant essential oils could be used in eco-friendly integrated disease management of Fusarium wilt in strawberry fields.

국내 택배용 딸기의 적정 완충포장 시스템 개발 (Development of Optimum Cushioning Packaging System of Strawberry for Domestic Parcel Delivery Service)

  • Due to the rapid increase in cyber shopping mall of agricultural products, the parcel delivery service industry also increased, making it necessary to design an optimum packaging for agricultural products. And Due to the recent increase in strawberry consumption, there is also a need for a packaging system for parcel delivery service. In order to establish the criteria for optimum cushioning packaging design of strawberries, the bioyield strength of strawberries by storage time was measured through the ASABE test standards, and the peak acceleration in the resonance frequency and resonance frequency bands of strawberries was measured through the vibration test regulated in the ASTM test specifications. Tray cup pad and corrugated fiberboard box of delivery strawberries were designed using FEM theoretical analysis of contact stress and resonant frequency. In addition, an optimum packaging system was developed with a cushioning and vibration design considering the impact characteristics when distributing agricultural products. Through the performance evaluation and on-site evaluation of the optimum packaging system of strawberries for parcel delivery service, the random PSD test results of the delivery showed a 74% reduction in the acceleration level, and the actual distribution test of the delivery showed that the damage rate of strawberries was not more than 6.7%, indicating that it was possible to use the optimum packaging of strawberries for delivery.

온실 복합생장환경 관제 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Complex Growth-environment Control System in Greenhouse)

  • In this paper, Wireless sensor network technology applied to various greenhouse agro-industry items such as horticulture and local specialty etc., we was constructed automatic control system for optimum growth environment by measuring growth status and environmental change. existing monitoring systems of greenhouse gather information about growth environment depends on the temperature. but in this system, Can be efficient collection and control of information to construct wireless sensor network by growth measurement sensor and environment monitoring sensor inside of the greenhouse. The system is consists of sensor manager for information processing, an environment database that stores information collected from sensors, the GUI of show the greenhouse status, it gather soil and environment information to soil and environment(including weather) sensors, growth measurement sensor. In addition to support that soil information service shows the temperature, moisture, EC, ph of soil to user through the interaction of obtained data and Complex Growth Environment information service for quality and productivity can prevention and response by growth disease or disaster of greenhouse agro-industry items how temperature, humidity, illumination acquiring informationin greenhouse(strawberry, ginseng). To verify the executability of the system, constructing the complex growth environment measurement system using wireless sensor network in greenhouse and we confirmed that it is can provide our optimized growth environment information.

Sugar content analysis and expression profiling of sugar related genes in contrasting Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) cultivars

  • $Fragaria{\times}ananassa$, a strawberry evolved from hybridization between F. virginiana and F. chiloensis, is a globally cultivated and consumed fruit crop valued for its flavor and nutritional value. Flavor and quality of fruits are determined by factors such as sugars and organic acids present during fruit development. These characteristics are highly subjective in different genotypes and affected by various environmental factors. In this study, we analyzed contents of major sugar compounds including fructose, glucose and sucrose by HPLC analysis in four cultivars namely, Maehyang, Seolhyang, Festival and Sweet Charlie. We identified 55 genes related to fructose, glucose, sucrose and soluble sugar regulation whose expression were analyzed in four cultivars at three developmental stages of the fruit namely, green, white and ripened stages. Expression of these genes across these progressive fruit developmental stages varied among cultivars. Among the 55 genes, genes FaFru3, FaSuc11 and FaGlu8 revealed differential patterns of expression along developmental stages of the fruit in high and low sugar-containing genotypes, respectively and may be putative candidates for sugar content in strawberries. Expression of genes are discussed with regard to corresponding sugar content in these genotypes. Further analysis and application of these genes may be valuable in developing high sugar containing cultivars via marker-assisted breeding.

Reciprocal effect of ethyl formate and phosphine gas on two quarantine pests, Tetranychus urticae(Acari: Tetranychidae) and Myzus persicae(Hemiptera: Aphididae)

  • Fumigation of fruits and vegetables during quarantine and pre-shipment(QPS) treatment should be effective with a shorter fumigation time to minimize phytotoxicity. In this research study, a shorter fumigation time, 2 hours exposure which is shorter than that of the current commercial fumigation procedures using a lower dose of ethyl formate (EF) mixed with phosphine (PH3) on strawberry was investigated. The reciprocal effect between EF and PH3 against nymphs and adult Myzus persicae (Sulzer) and Tetranychus urticae (Koch) was evaluated. In addition, L(Ct)50 and L(Ct)99 of EF only and EF mixed with PH3 were analyzed at 5℃ and 20℃. The synergistic ratio (SR) of L(Ct)50 and L(Ct)99 for the nymph and adult stages of M. persicae were >1.0, which indicated a synergistic effect between EF and PH3. However, the SR values of L(Ct)50 and L(Ct)99 of the nymph and adult stages of T. urticae were ≤1.0 indicating that there was no synergistic effect between the two fumigants against T. urticae. Our results showed that the reciprocal effect between EF and PH3 has different effects on M. persicae and T. urticae. This could be attributed to the biological and physical differences between the class Arachnida and Insecta. The synergistic effect between EF and PH3 against M. persicae within a shorter exposure period and without phytotoxicity on fruits and vegetables will significantly benefit the horticultural industry.
