Purpose: The purpose of this study was analysis of quality of fixed prostheses fabricated by dental CAD/CAM system. Methods: The ten same cases of stone models were manufactured by dental scannable model, and stone models were scanned using the dental scanner for changing digital model. Ten digital models were completed. The design of zirconia core for zirconia based all-ceramic crown was conducted by the dental CAD program. The samples were fabricated using the pre-sintered zirconia block by dental milling machine. Marginal gaps were analyzed using by silicone replica technique at the eight parts for quality analysis of samples. One-way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis(${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: The mean for marginal gaps were $93.2{\sim}99.1{\mu}m$ at the eight parts. One-was ANOVA didn't show significant differences(p=0.089). Conclusion: The fixed dental prostheses fabricated by dental CAD/CAM were within clinically acceptable range.
The main structural elements of historical masonry arch bridges are arches, spandrel walls, piers and foundations. The most vulnerable structural elements of masonry arch bridges under transverse seismic loads, particularly in the case of out-of-plane actions, are spandrel wall. The vulnerability of spandrel walls under transverse loads increases with the increasing of their length and height. This paper computationally investigates the out-of-plane nonlinear seismic response of spandrel walls of long-span and high masonry stone arch bridges. The Malabadi Bridge with a main arch span of 40.86m and rise of 23.45m built in 1147 in Diyarbakır, Turkey, is selected as an example. The Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) material model adjusted to masonry structures, and cohesive interface interaction between the infill and the spandrel walls and the arch are considered in the 3D finite element model of the selected bridge. Firstly, mode shapes with and without cohesive interfaces are evaluated, and then out-of-plane seismic failure responses of the spandrel walls with and without the cohesive interfaces are determined and compared with respect to the displacements, strains and stresses.
In selecting a final tree, Breiman, Friedman, Olshen, and Stone(1984) compare the prediction risks of a pair of tree, where one contains the other, using the standard error of the prediction risk of the larger one. This paper proposes an approach to selection of a final tree by using the standard error of the difference of the prediction risks between a pair of trees rather than the standard error of the larger one. This approach is compared with CART's for simulated data from a simple regression model. Asymptotic results of the approaches are also derived and compared to each other. Both the asymptotic and the simulation results indicate that final trees by CART tend to be smaller than desired.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of model according to three types of dental scanner. A maxillary acrylic model was prepared and duplicated 10 times by silicone impression materials. Corresponding working casts were formed from scannable stone and got a 3-dimensional digital models using three different scanners. The distance of each measurement region was measured using vernier calipers and the respective program. One-way ANOVA and the Tukey honestly significant difference post hoc test (${\alpha}=0.05$) was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0. Overall, the stone cast is smaller than the digital models in measurement distance. And measuring point value of laser scanner showed the most similar values and measurement points value of digital vernier calipers. Digital model of white light scanner showed similar values in the measurement points value of the blue light scanner. In conclusion, the laser scanner showed the best accuracy among the three types of dental scanner. However, the difference between the digital models and the stone cast can be accommodated in making prostheses. Thereby, three types of dental scanner are available in a clinically acceptable range.

A combined experimental-computational study of a double edge-notched stone specimen subjected to tensile loading is presented. In the experimental part, the load-deformation response and the displacement field around the crack tip are recorded. An Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometer (ESPI) is used to obtain the local displacement field. The experimental results are used to validate a numerical model for the description of fracture using finite elements. The numerical model uses displacement discontinuities to model cracks. At the discontinuity, a plasticity-based cohesive zone model is applied for monotonic loading and a combined damage-plasticity cohesive zone model is used for cyclic loading. Both local and global results from the numerical simulations are compared with experimental data. It is shown that local measurements add important information for the validation of the numerical model. Consequently, the numerical models are enhanced in order to correctly capture the experimentally observed behaviour.
Recently, knowledge management becomes a core management tool for efficient and effective organizations. However, there are little known researches on measuring knowledge management level. The objective of this paper is to develop a process capability model for knowledge management of an organization. We developed 5 stage process capability model for knowledge management. The 1st stage is the initial stage where no significant knowledge management activity is performed. The 2nd stage is the performed stage where planning and tracking activities are performed on organization level. The 3rd stage is the established, and the 4th stage is the predictable stage where processes and results of knowledge management can be predictable. Final stage is the optimizing stage where knowledge management process is continuously improved at an organizational level. We surveyed 37 korean companies to test the validity of the proposed stage model. Statistical tests show that the developed stage model of knowledge management is valid and sound in general conditions. The result of this study on process capability model can be a solid stepping stone for future works in this area.
The extensive utilization of concrete has given rise to environmental concerns, specifically concerning the depletion of river sand. To address this issue, waste deposits can provide manufactured-sand (MS) as a substitute for river sand. The objective of this study is to explore the application of machine learning techniques to facilitate the production of manufactured-sand concrete (MSC) containing stone nano-powder through estimating the splitting tensile strength (STS) containing compressive strength of cement (CSC), tensile strength of cement (TSC), curing age (CA), maximum size of the crushed stone (Dmax), stone nano-powder content (SNC), fineness modulus of sand (FMS), water to cement ratio (W/C), sand ratio (SR), and slump (S). To achieve this goal, a total of 310 data points, encompassing nine influential factors affecting the mechanical properties of MSC, are collected through laboratory tests. Subsequently, the gathered dataset is divided into two subsets, one for training and the other for testing; comprising 90% (280 samples) and 10% (30 samples) of the total data, respectively. By employing the generated dataset, novel models were developed for evaluating the STS of MSC in relation to the nine input features. The analysis results revealed significant correlations between the CSC and the curing age CA with STS. Moreover, when delving into sensitivity analysis using an empirical model, it becomes apparent that parameters such as the FMS and the W/C exert minimal influence on the STS. We employed various loss functions to gauge the effectiveness and precision of our methodologies. Impressively, the outcomes of our devised models exhibited commendable accuracy and reliability, with all models displaying an R-squared value surpassing 0.75 and loss function values approaching insignificance. To further refine the estimation of STS for engineering endeavors, we also developed a user-friendly graphical interface for our machine learning models. These proposed models present a practical alternative to laborious, expensive, and complex laboratory techniques, thereby simplifying the production of mortar specimens.
Ecosystem health assessment is an emerging concept regarded as a useful diagnostic tool for evaluating ecosystems. The stability of ecosystem is the main theme in the assessment. Generally, two components - resilience and resistance - are involved in the mechanism of ecosystem stability. In this study, relative degrees of the resistance and the resilience were quantified for most aquatic Insects Inhabiting running waters in Korea. A total of 34 groups were newly categorized based on previous studies, and a conceptual model has been produced. The model was applied for the aquatic insect communities inhabiting different streams and demonstrated that each stream ecosystem possessed different degrees of stability. This study also indicated that it was possible to compare stabilities of different ecosystems using relative degrees of resilience and resistance. Using the conceptual model, suitable conservation and management strategies could be recommended in ecological assessments. The model can be used as a stepping-stone for developing more comprehensive methodology that objectively diagnoses and evaluates the ecosystem stability.
This paper presents the numerical simulation of the rigid 12.6 mm diameter kinetic energy ogive-nosed projectile impact on plain and fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) targets with compressive strengths from 45 to 235 MPa, using a three-dimensional finite element code LS-DYNA. A combined dynamic constitutive model, describing the compressive and tensile damage of concrete, is implemented. A modified Johnson_Holmquist_Cook (MJHC) constitutive relationship and damage model are incorporated to simulate the concrete behavior under compression. A tensile damage model is added to the MJHC model to analyze the dynamic fracture behavior of concrete in tension, due to blast loading. As a consequence, the impact damage in targets made of plain and fiber reinforced concrete with same matrix material under same impact velocities (650 m/s) are obtained. Moreover, the damage distribution of concrete after penetration is procured to compare with the experimental results. Numerical simulations provide a reasonable prediction on concrete damage in both compression and tension.
The purpose of this study was to evalute the effect of immersion disinfection on the dimensional stability of rubber impression materials. The metallic master model was made in order to simulate the intraoral arch form. Impressions were made from four impression materials (Exaflex, Extrude, Reprosil, Impregum-F) and immersed in three disinfectant solutions (Wydex, Vi-Pon, Potadine). Casts from the impressions were measured according to the interpreparation distance. The A-B and The B-D abutment distance were compared with the control group and disinfected groups. The results were as follows; 1. The measurements of the stone cast increased relative to the master model and there was a significant difference (P<0.05). 2. The relative dimensional change of the stone cast as compared with master model ranged from 0.10% to 0.56% in the A-B distance and ranged from 0.04% to 0.27% in the B-D distance. 3. The dimensional change of the disinfected groups as compared with the control group was significantly different in the three impression materials except for Impregum-F (P<0.05). 4. The relative dimensional change of the disinfected groups compared with the control group ranged from 0% to 0.20% in the A-B distance and ranged from -0.09% to 0.11% in the B-D distance. These results suggest that immersion disinfection of rubber impression materials by chemical disinfectants causes very small dimensional change and the change is clinically acceptable for prothesis fabrication
