Stochastic Modeling of Plug-in Electric Vehicle Distribution in Power Systems

  • This paper proposes a stochastic modeling of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) distribution in power systems, and analyzes the corresponding clustering characteristic. It is essential for power utilities to estimate the PEV charging demand as the penetration level of PEV is expected to increase rapidly in the near future. Although the distribution of PEVs in power systems is the primary factor for estimating the PEV charging demand, the data currently available are statistics related to fuel-driven vehicles and to existing electric demands in power systems. In this paper, we calculate the number of households using electricity at individual ending buses of a power system based on the electric demands. Then, we estimate the number of PEVs per household using the probability density function of PEVs derived from the given statistics about fuel-driven vehicles. Finally, we present the clustering characteristic of the PEV distribution via case studies employing the test systems.

  • In this paper, we study stochastic maximal covering location problem considering floating population. Traditional maximal covering location problem assumed that number of populations at demand point is already known and fixed. In this manner, someone who try to solve real world maximal covering location problem must consider administrative population as a population at demand point. But, after observing floating population, appliance of population in steady-state is more reasonable. In this paper, we suggest revised numerical model of maximal covering location problem. We suggest heuristic methodology to solve large scale problem by using genetic algorithm.

  • In supply chain, there are a variety of different uncertainties including demand, service time, lead time, and so forth. The uncertainty of demand has been commonly studied by researchers or practitioners in the field of supply chain. However, the uncertainty of upstream supply chain has also increased. A problem of uncertainty in the upstream supply chain is the fluctuation of the lead time. The stochastic lead time sometimes causes to happen so called the order crossover which is not the same sequences of the order placed and the order arrived. When the order crossover happens, ordinary inventory policies have difficult to find the optimal inventory solutions. In this research, we investigate the lead time distribution in case of the order crossover and explore the resolutions of the inventory solution with the order crossover.

  • This study aims to apply and examine the stochastic approach for empty container repositioning and leasing problem. For this a case study has been carried out on actual data such as various cost components and traffic flow. The results reveal that the proposed methodology produces more realistic results than the conventional deterministic approaches. It is also found that the results are significantly affected by the accuracy of demand and supply forecast.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of a stochastic optimal switching control, which can be applied to the control of a system with uncertain demand such as a control problem of a power plant. The dynamic programming method is applied for the formulation of the optimal control problem. We solve the system of Quasi-Variational Inequalities(QVI) using an algoritlim which involves the finite difference approximation and contraction mapping method. A mathematical example of the optimal switching control is constructed. The actual performance of the algorithm is also tested through the solution of the constructed example.

  • This paper develops a two-echelon inventory model with time-weighted partial backorders. The presented model assumed to follow continuous review (Q. r) policy for both the retailers and the central warehouse under stochastic demand. A heuristic method to find an optimum-tending solution for total variable system cost per year incurred at the central warehouse and retailers in a system is suggested. To show the usefulness of the above model, numericla examples are illustrated for verification and validation purpose.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the present methodology-for the estimation of optimal water supply from an impounding reservoir. The stochastic reservoir storage model presented in this paper is believed to be rational in that. the probability of reservoir depletion (return period) is to be calculated for the various monthly demands and storage capacities. The monthly flows are used to derive the reservoir storage capacity-monthly demand-probability curves at Dalcheon damsite and Hongcheon damsite in Han river basin.

Serviceability-oriented analytical design of isolated liquid damper for the wind-induced vibration control of high-rise buildings

  • The effectiveness of conventional tuned liquid dampers (TLDs) in controlling the wind-induced response of tall flexible structures has been indicated. However, the impaired control effect in the detuning condition or a considerably high mass cost of liquid may be incurred in ensuring the high-level serviceability. To provide an efficient TLD-based solution for wind-induced vibration control, this study proposes a serviceability-oriented optimal design method for isolated TLDs (ILDs) and derives analytical design formulae. The ILD is implemented by mounting the TLD on the linear isolators. Stochastic response analysis is performed for the ILD-equipped structure subjected to stochastic wind and white noise, and the results are considered to derive the closed-form responses. Correspondingly, an extensive parametric analysis is conducted to clarify a serviceability-oriented optimal design framework by incorporating the comfort demand. The obtained results show that the high-level serviceability demand can be satisfied by the ILD based on the proposed optimal design framework. Analytical design formulae can be preliminarily adopted to ensure the target serviceability demand while enhancing the structural displacement performance to increase the safety level. Compared with conventional TLD systems, the ILD exhibits higher effectiveness and a larger frequency bandwidth for wind-induced vibration control at a small mass ratio.

  • In this paper, we determine optimal reduction in the lead time and setup cost for some stochastic inventory models. And we propose more general model that allow the backorder rate as a control variable. We first assume that the lead time demand follows a normal distribution. And we assume that the backorder rate is dependent on the length of lead time through the amount of shortages. The stochastic models analyzed in this paper are the classical continuous and periodic review policy models with a mixture of backorders and lost sales. For each of these models, we provide a sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the optimal operating policy. We also develop algorithms for solving these models and provide illustrative numerical examples.

  • 본 논문은 다중-홉 해양통신망의 종단간 경로 설정을 위한 ad-hoc on-demand vector (AODV) 기반의 flooding에서 발생하는 다중 복제 오버헤드를 줄이기 위해 제시된 지향성 라우팅 프로토콜을 다룬다. 확률 기하(stochastic geometry) 분석 기법을 이용하여 목표 라우팅 성공 확률과 선박국의 밀도에 따라 적응적으로 라우팅 오버헤드를 최소화하는 방식을 제안한다.
