The ACI 318-05 code requires the maximum amount of shear reinforcement in reinforced concrete (RC) beams to prevent possible sudden shear failure due to over reinforcement. The design equations of the maximum amount of shear reinforcement provided by the current four design codes, ACI 318-05, CSA-04, EC2-02, and JCI-99, differ substantially from one another. The ACI 318-05, CSA-04, and EC2-02 codes provide an expression for the maximum amount of shear reinforcement ratio as a function of the concrete compressive strength, but Japanese code does not take into account the influence of the concrete compressive strength. For high strength concrete, the maximum amount of shear reinforcement calculated by the EC2-02 and CSA-04 is much greater than that calculated by the ACI 318-05. This paper presents the effects of shear reinforcement ratio and compressive strength of concrete on the maximum shear reinforcement in reinforced concrete beams. Ten RC beams having various shear reinforcement ratio were tested. Although the test beams were designed to have much more amount of shear reinforcement than that required in the ACI 318-05 code, all beams failed due to web concrete crushing after the stirrups reached the yield strain.

Recently, Construction Business, is changing very quickly, exceedingly needs to slim down the construction expensive by reducing material costs and the term of works. The term of formwork takes 25% of the term of works and costs 15% to 20% of the cost of construction. Hereupon, the purpose of this study is to investigate the Axial Strength of Centrifugall Formed Shell PC Columns that can reduce the term of formwork, the costs of material, the difficulty of throwing away the waste. Shell PC Column is loaded stirrups and manufactured at factory, so it has good points like construction's quality control and part's precision. However, it needs to be tested for checking bonded ability because it is set up at core and coverd with concrete. therefore this study is necessary three type of columns, which are a RC column, different type of two compressive strength core concrete columns and a Shell PC Column. By three columns, this study compare with and analysis three columns's bonded and Compressive Behavior abilities.

Fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) are light in weight, non-corrosive and exhibits high tensile strength. FRPs having superior material properties to corrosive steels have been widely replacing steel bars or tendons used in concrete structures as flexural reinforcements. Although current design guidelines for estimating shear strength of FRP concrete beam follow the format of conventional reinforced concrete design method, there are noticeable differences among the existing formulas in calculating the contributions of concrete to shear resistance. In this paper, the artificial neural network (ANN) technique is employed as an analytical alternative to existing methods for predicting shear capacity of FRP concrete beams. Influential factors on shear strength were identified through literature review and input in ANN and the ANN was trained for the target ultimate shear obtained from database. The results from ANN were compared with existing formulas for its accuracy. It was found that the developed ANN were more closely predicting the test data than those of the currently available predictive equations.
The main goal of this study was to examine the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with CFRP strups. Seven rectangular beams were tested. The test variables were the configuration types, spacing length of CFRP strips and the amount of reinforced stirrups bars. From this experimental study, the shear capacity of beams strengthened with CFRP increased significantly compared to the beam without CFRP strip. Maximum increase of ultimate shear strength was found about 100% more than that of the beam without a CFRP strip and the CFRP strips attached in the shear region can resist the occurrence of the initial shear cracks and the propagation of major shear cracks. In this test, most of the shear strengthened beams failed suddenly due to the debonding of CFRP strips. A calculation of the shear strength of reinforced beams strengthened with CFRP strips based on the effective stresses was conducted and the comparisons were made with the test results.

Several researches on cement zero concrete using alkali-activators have been conducted to investigate its fundamental material properties such as slump, strength and durability, however, research on the structural behavior of relevant members involving the elastic modulus, stress-strain relationship is essential for the application of this cement zero concrete to structural members. In this paper the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams using 50 MPa-alkali activated slag concrete was experimentally evaluated. To achieve such a goal, six reinforced concrete beam specimens were fabricated and their shear behaviors were observed. The maximum difference between test results and analysis results in crack shear stress for beam specimens without stirrups is 31%, while that for beam specimens with stirrup is 15%. Furthermore, it is also found that the shear strength of alkali activated slag concrete is by 22~57% greater than the nominal shear strength calculated by design code, implying that shear design equations would provide conservative results on the safety side.
An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the static shear strength of stirrup-reinforced cast-in anchors. The test parameters considered herein are an existence of front bearing bar and concrete crack. M36 anchor was used with an edge distance of 180mm. HD-10 bars were used for all reinforcing bars and the stirrups were placed with 100mm spacing. The shear resistance increased by 16% when the front bearing bar was installed. Meanwhile, the resistance reduced only 5% in the cracked concrete compared with the uncracked concrete. The test results showed that ACI 318 and ETAG 001 specifications could estimate the shear strength of stirrup-reinforced anchors conservatively and a rational method was proposed. A consideration on the fracture strength of stirrup-reinforced anchor is also given.

ANSYS is a software well accepted by professionals and academics, since it provides a variety of finite elements, material constitutive models, and linear and nonlinear analysis of structures in general. For the concrete material, for instance, the software uses an elastoplastic model with the Willam-Warnke surface of rupture (1975). However, this model is only available for finite elements that do not offer the possibility of use of the element-embedded model for rebars, demanding a much larger amount of elements to discretize structures, making numerical solutions less efficient. This study is, therefore, about the development of a computational model using the Finite Element Method via ANSYS platform for nonlinear analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete beams under plane stress states. The most significant advantage of this implementation is the possibility of using the element-embedded rebar model in ANSYS with its 2D eight-node quadratic element PLANE183 for discretization of the concrete together with element REINF263 for discretization of rebars, stirrups, and cables, making the solutions faster and more efficient. For representation of the constitutive equations of the steel and the concrete, a proposed model was implemented with the help of the UPF customization tool (User Programmable Features) of ANSYS, where new subroutines written in FORTRAN were attached to the main program. The numerical results are compared with experimental values available in the technical literature to validate the proposed model, with satisfactory results being found.

Recently, many studies have been conducted on the structural behavior of HPFRCC, but most of the studies focused on the flexural behavior while studies on the shear behavior are limited. In this study, a model has been developed to reasonably predict the shear strength of a HPFRCC beam without stirrups. To develop the model, a HPFRCC beam was simply idealized with upper & lower chords resisting bending moment and a web shear element resisting shear forces. Then, taking into the account of the tensile behavior of HPFRCC, the main diagonal compressive strut angle and shear stress of the web shear element were evaluated on shear failure. Then, the shear strength of the HPFRCC beam could be evaluated. For the verification of the proposed model, the predictions by the proposed model were compared with the test results of 48 HPFRCC beams exhibiting shear failure. The results showed that the proposed model reasonably predicted the actual shear strength with an average of 1.045 and CoV of 0.125. This study are expected to be useful for related researches and design of members or structures to which HPFRCC is applied.

This paper presents out-of-plane shear strength models for composite wall with steel plates based on limit theorem in the framework of the plasticity theory. The formulas proposed by JEAG 4618 need to be reconsidered with a couple of limitations; ignoring the effect of bond stress generated by studs in the process of calculating arch action, illogically discriminating between concrete shear cracking strength and arch strength by algebraic relation in short shear span ratio(0-2.0). In most cases, reinforcement ratio is not sufficient to yield, as a result, arch strength is determined by accounting equilibrium including both bond strength and concrete compressive strength. We conducted experimental research assuming that SC wall is a continuous beam under the simplified loading patterns, changing main valuables involving the number of studs, stirrups. The results show good agreements with the formula and we quoted the test results of JEAG.
In this paper, cyclic loading tests on composite frame inner joints of steel-reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) column-steel beam were conducted. The main objective of the test was to obtain the shear behavior and analyze the shear strength of the joints. The main design parameters in the test were recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentage and axial compression ratio. The failure process, failure modes, hysteresis curves and strain characteristics of the joints were obtained, and the influences of design parameters on the shear strength of the joints have been also analysed in detail. Results show that the failure modes of the joints area are typical shear failure. The shear bearing capacity of the joints maximally decreased by 10.07% with the increase in the RCA replacement percentage, whereas the shear bearing capacity of the joints maximally increased by 16.6% with the increase in the axial compression ratio. A specific strain analysis suggests that the shear bearing capacity of the joints was mainly provided by the three shear elements of the recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) diagonal compression strut, steel webs and stirrups of the joint area. According to the shear mechanism and test results, the calculation formulas of the shear bearing capacity of the three main shear elements were deduced separately. Thus, the calculation model of the shear bearing capacity of the composite joints considering the adverse effects of the RCA replacement percentage was established through a superposition method. The calculated values of shear strength based on the calculation model were in good agreement with the test values. It indicates that the calculation method in this study can reasonably predict the shear bearing capacity of the composite frame inner joints of SRRC column-steel beam.
