A study approached the development of a process for efficiently recycling discarded cigarette butts, reported as a major source of microplastic pollution in aquatic environments. Cigarette butts were sorted to extract filters, and cellulose acetate, the raw material of the filters, was extracted to a high degree of purity. The sorting of filters from cigarette butts was conducted through both wet and dry processes, each with optimized sorting conditions. Wet stirring sorting considered factors such as solid-liquid ratio, stirring speed, and stirring temperature. The highest efficiency of wet stirring sorting, at 46.21%, was observed with a solid-liquid ratio of 1:45, stirring speed of 200 rpm, and stirring temperature of 50℃. Dry wind power sorting took into account moisture content and residence time. The filter sorting efficiency reached its peak at 57.10% with a moisture content of 20% and a residence time of 5 minutes. There was no significant difference in the recovery rate of cellulose acetate between the two sorting processes. Dry wind power sorting was deemed a more advantageous process in terms of energy and environmental considerations within the scope of this study.

The surface roughness and reflectivity of electroless-plated Sn-3.5 wt%Ag on a LED (light emitting diode) lead frame were investigated. Cu electroplating was carried out prior to electroless plating of Sn-3.5Ag to improve the reflectivity of the Sn-3.5Ag deposit. In order to investigate the effect of stirring speed and temperature of the plating solution, surface roughness and reflectivity was measured. The experimental results revealed that the thickness of the deposit layer increased with stirring speed and temperature of the plating solution. Stirring speed is increased from 100 to 300 rpm, the surface roughness was reduced from 0.513 to 0.266 ${\mu}m$, and the reflectivity increased from 1.67 to 1.84 GAM. As temperature of the plating solution increased from 25 to $45^{\circ}C$, the surface roughness reduced from 0.507 to 0.350 ${\mu}m$, and the reflectivity increased from 1.68 to 1.84 GAM.
Solution polymerization was conducted with water-soluble methacrylic acid (MAA) as a monomer and potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator at a selected temperature between $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$. When the ratio between MAA and water was reduced or initiator concentration increased, molecular weights decreased. Molecular weights of poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) showed nearly no dependence on reaction temperature. The Weissenberg effect was observed in most polymerization reactions, while its effect weakened at $90^{\circ}C$. The polydispersity index was less than 1.5 in most of the reactions. An increase in the stirring speed produced PMAAs with increasing molecular weights. When the stirring speed reached 800 rpm, we retrieved a monodisperse PMAA with both the number and weight average molecular weights of 791,000 g/mol. The glass transition temperature was found to be $162^{\circ}C$.
Solution polymerization was conducted with water-soluble acrylic acid (AA) as a monomer and potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator at a selected temperature between $60^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ with water as a reaction medium. When the ratio between AA and water was reduced or initiator concentration increased, molecular weights decreased. An increase in the reaction temperature produced lower molecular weights. The polydispersity index was close to 1.5 in most of the reactions. An increase in the stirring speed up to 400 rpm led to a progressive increase in molecular weights. When the stirring speed reached 800 rpm, however, we found that both the number and weight average molecular weights decreased. The glass transition temperature was nearly independent of moelcular weights and determined to be between $113^{\circ}C$ and $116^{\circ}C$.

The application of solid phase microextraction (SPME) is generally conducted by directly immersing the fiber into the liquid sample or by exposing the fiber in the head space (HS). The extraction temperature, the time of incubation, and application of stirring are often designated to be the most important parameters for achieving the best extraction efficiencies of HS-SPME analysis. In this study, relative importance of these three analytical parameters involved in the HS-SPME method is evaluated using a polydimethylsiloxane/carboxen (PDMS/CAR) fiber. To optimize its operation conditions the competing relationships between different parameters were investigated by comparing the extraction efficiency based on the combination of three parameters and two contracting conditions: (1) heating the sample at 30 vs. 50 C, (2) exposing samples at two durations of 10 vs. 30 min, and (3) application of stirring vs. no stirring. According to our analysis among 8 combination types of HS-SPME method, an extraction condition termed as S50-30 condition ((1) 1200 rpm stirring, (2) $50^{\circ}C$ exposure temp, and (3) 30 min exposure duration) showed maximum recovery rate of 45.5~68.5% relative to an arbitrary reference of direct GC injection. According to this study, the employment of stirring is the most crucial factor to improve extraction efficiency in the application of HS-SPME.
The dissolution kinetics for polymorphs of sulpiride, the effect of polyethylene glycol 4000 on the dissolution kinetics of sulpiride polymorphs and the dissolution rate difference between the tablets of polymorph form I and form II were investigated. The results could be summerized as followings: 1. The dissolution rates of two polymorphs of sulpiride were significantly different and the thermodynamic parameters calculated from dissolution kinetics were as follows; transition temperature $98^{\circ}C$, enthalpy change, -2.108 kcal/mole, free energy change, -783 cal/mole $(31.0^{\circ}C)$. 2. The dissolution rates of the two polymorphs of sulpiride containing polyethylene glycol 4000 were significantly diefferent in 0.01N HCl but the effect of polyethylene glycol on the dissolution rates of two polymorphs was not significant at low concentration of polyethylene glycol 4000. The study on the effect by stirring speed showed that at lower stirring speed the promotion rate of dissolution of polymorph form I is greater than that of form II. 3. In the case of tablets the dissolution rates of polymorph form I of sulpiride was two fold as compared with the results obtained from form II.
Emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) process suffers from emulsion instability problem. So far, emulsion produced by mechanical methods such as stirrer and homogenizer has big size and high emulsion breakage. This paper discussed the application of emulsion produced by sonicator to extract cadmium in a batch ELM system. The emulsions consist of N,N-Dioctyl-1-octanamine (trioctylamine/TOA), nitrogen trihydride (ammonia/NH4OH), sorbitan monooleate (Span 80), and kerosene as carrier, stripping solution, emulsifying agent, and organic diluent, respectively. Effects of comprehensive parameters on extraction efficiency of Cd(II) such as emulsification time, extraction time, stirring speed, surfactant concentration, initial feed phase concentration, carrier concentration, volume ratio of the emulsion to feed phase, and pH of initial feed phase were evaluated. The results showed that extraction efficiencies of Cd(II) greater than 98% could be obtained under the following conditions: 15 minutes of emulsification time, 4 wt.% of Span 80 concentration, 4 wt.% of TOA concentration, 15 minutes of extraction time, 250 rpm of stirring speed, 100 ppm of initial feed concentration, volume ratio of emulsion to feed phase of 1:5, and initial feed pH of 1.53.
The aim of this study was to prepare diacylglycerol (DAG) by enzymatic glycerolysis of lard. The effects of reaction parameters such as lipase type, reaction temperature, enzyme amount, substrate molar ratio (lard/glycerol), reaction time, and magnetic stirring speed were investigated. Lipozyme RMIM was found to be a more active biocatalyst than Novozym 435, and the optimal reaction conditions were 14:100 (W/W) of enzyme to lard substrate ratio, 1:1 of lard to glycerol molar ratio, and 500 rpm magnetic stirring speed. The reaction mixture was first incubated at $65^{\circ}C$ for 2 h and then transferred to $45^{\circ}C$ for 8 h. At the optimum reaction conditions, the conversion rate of triacylglycerol (TAG) and the content of DAG in the reaction mixture reached 76.26% and 61.76%, respectively, and the DAG content in purified glycerolized lard was 82.03% by molecular distillation. The distribution of fatty acids and Fourier transform infrared spectra in glycerolized lard samples were similar to those in lard samples. The results revealed that enzymatic glycerolysis and molecular distillation can be used to prepare more highly purified DAG from lard.
Effect of different alkane based solvents on the stability of emulsion liquid membrane was investigated using normal alkanes (n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane and n-decane) under various operating parameters of surfactant concentration, emulsification time, internal phase concentration, volume ratio of internal phase to organic phase, volume ratio of emulsion phase to external phase and stirring speed. Results of stability revealed that emulsion liquid membrane containing n-octane as solvent and span-80 (5 % (w/w)) as emulsifying agent presented the highest amount of emulsion stability (the lowest breakage) compared with other solvents; however, operating parameters (surfactant concentration (5% (w/w)), emulsification time (6 min), internal phase concentration (0.05 M), volume ratio of internal phase to organic phase (1/1), volume ratio of emulsion phase to external phase (1/5) and stirring speed (300 rpm)) were also influential on improving the stability (about 0.2% breakage) and on achieving the most stable emulsion. The membrane with the highest stability was employed to extract acridine orange with various concentrations (10, 20 and 40 ppm) from water. The emulsion liquid membrane prepared with n-octane as the best solvent almost removed 99.5% of acridine orange from water. Also, the prepared liquid membrane eliminated completely (100%) other cationic dyes (methylene blue, methyl violet and crystal violet) from water demonstrating the efficacy of prepared emulsion liquid membrane in treatment of dye polluted waters.
