The stem cell research is emerging as a cutting edge topic for a new treatment for many chronic diseases. Recently, dental stem cell would be possible for regeneration of tooth itself as well as periodontal tissue. However, the study of the cell characterization is scarce. Therefore, we performed the genetic profiling and the characterization of mouse fetus/neonate derived dental tissue and cell to find the identification during dental development. We separated dental arch from mandibles of 14.5 d fetal mice and neonate 0 d under the stereoscope, and isolated dental cells primarily from the tissues. Then, we examined morphology and the gene expression profiles of the primary cells and dental tissues from fetus/neonate and adult with RT-PCR. Primary dental cells showed heterogeneous but the majority was shown as fibroblast-like morphology. The change of population doubling time levels (PDLs) showed that the primary dental cells have growth potential and could be expanded under our culture conditions without reduction of growth rate. Immunocytochemical and flow cytometric analyses were performed to characterize the primary dental cell populations from both of fetus (E14.5) and neonate. Alpha smooth muscle actin (${\alpha}-SMA$), vimentin, and von Willebrand factor showed strong expression, but desmin positive cells were not detected in the primary dental cells. Most of the markers were not uniformly expressed, but found in subsets of cells, indicating that the primary dental cell population is heterogeneous, and characteristics of the populations were changed during culture period. And mesenchymal stem cell markers were highly expressed. Gene expression profile showed Wnt family and its related signaling molecules, growth factors, transcription factors and tooth specific molecules were expressed both fetal and neonatal tissue. The tooth specific genes (enamelin, amelogenin, and DSPP) only expressed in neonate and adult stage. These expression patterns appeared same as primary fetal and neonatal cells. In this study we isolated primary cells from whole mandible of fetal and neonatal mice. And we investigated the characteristics of the primary cells and the profile of gene expressions, which are involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during tooth development. Taken together, the primary dental cells in early passages or fetal and neonatal mandibles could be useful stem cell resources.

This experiment was carried out to study the effect of the autumnal cutting times on the regrowth, the accumulated carbohydrate and dry matter yield of Italian ryegrass The results were summarized as follows: 1. In dry matter yield, the plot of earlier cutting was shown the highest yield (p<0.05), and that of the last-cutting was shown lower yield of dry matter than that the none-cutting plot. 2. TSC (Total Water Soluble Carbohydrate) content slightly decreased after the first cutting and gradually increased according to the regrowth, and then decreased again to the second cutting time. And also the TSC content levels of stubble, stem and leaf at one week before falling to sub-zero temperature were all the highest in the eariler cutting plot (p<0.01), and there was significant correlation between the TSC content level and the second harvested dry matter yield (p<0.05). 3. CGR (Crop Growth Rate) was decreased below $8^{\circ}C$. RLGR (Relative Leaf area Growth Rate) and NAR (Net Assimilation Rate) were both high during 30 days after regrowth, and low after regrowth in all plots. LAI (Leaf Area Index) rapidly increased during 50 days after cutting, and then slowly increased in all the plots, and maximum LAI was 3.4-5.8. Also dry matter yield increased in the plots having a high LAI to 70 days after cutting. 4. It was recognized that there were significant correlation between TSC, LAI, CGR, NAR, LWR (Leaf Weight Ratio) and the second harvested dry matter yield during the low temperature periods, and the degree of contribution to dry matter yield was in order of LWR>LAI>TSC>NAR>CGR.
The Korean name "Bizooki" tree was named by the shape of winter bud which is like a slim bow. There are four scientific names in the tree which are Cleyera japonica Thunberg, Cleyera ochnacea DC, Sakakia ochnacea Nakai, and Ternstroemia gymnanthera. And the English name are Japanese Ternstroemia and Japanese Cleyera. "Bizooki" tree has planted at Buddhist temples in Japan for the ritual. The best result of stem cutting in "Bizooki" tree, 100 percent of rooting, could be accomplished in July when cuttings were done on the mixture-soil containing the same rates by volume of vermiculite, peatmoss and perlite with cuts processed with IBA 1,000 mg/l under the circumstances that 70% of shade, plastic mulching, and mist were conditioned.
The typical dark brown stripe symptom of bacterial wilt disease was observed in the cuttings of tobacco stem treated with the culture filtrate of virulent Pseudomonas solanaceamm. And the tobacco callus create.4 with that culture filtrate showed deterioration of the callus 2 days after the treatment. On the contrary, the cuttings and the callus treated with the culture filtrate of the avirulent bacteria expressed no typical symptom and vigorous growth respectively. Therefore it was suggested that certain toxin which might be produced by the virulent bacteria could break down tobacco cells.

These studies were carried out to investigate seed propagation method and conducted using stem cuttings of Styrax japonicus for using as a woody landscape plant. The results are obtained as follows. After the H\sub2\SO\sub 4\ and GA\sub 3\ treatment to the seeds of Styrax japonicus, three months of warm treatment followed by cold stratification for four months increased seed germination rate. The rooting rate of Styrax japonicus was increased by the treatment with concentrated IBA, especially highest at 7,000ppm. Rooting percentages were highest for cuttings taken on July 15, 1995. Therefore, the most effective method for rooting of Styrax japonicus was treatment with 7,000ppm IBA on July 15 cuttings, which showed rooting rate of over 90%. Half-leaf-remained cuttings were more effective than those with two leaves on rooting of Styrax japonicus. Dipping for 10 seconds in IBA solution resulted in rooting rate of over 70%. The longer the treatment time the worse the rooting.
We investigated the occurrence of major pests, 4 species of moths (Grapholita dimorpha Busck, Carposina sasakii Matsumura, Archips breviplicanus Walsingham, Adoxophyes orana Fischer von Roslerstamm), apple aphid (Aphis spiraecola Patch), two spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch) and parasitoids in pear orchard with hairy vetch and cutting weeds in Yesan, Chungnam province during the flowering season and summer depression season of hairy vetch, in 2012 and 2013. The occurrence of 4 species of moths in hairy vetch plot and cutting weeds (major is finger grass, Digitaria sanguinalis, 80%) were little different but in case of apple aphid, the density in hairy vetch plot was just 95 aphids per stem at 20th June but low after then. The density of two spotted spider mite on pear leaf in hairy vetch plot was lower than in cutting weeds plot significantly. The number of parasitoids collected in hairy vetch plot during flowering season (May and June) were 398 and 798 in 2012 and 2013, respectively. The number of parasitoids collected in hairy vetch plot during summer depression season (July and August) were 114 and 172, respectively. But in cutting weeds plot, 9 and 22 in May and June, 8 and 5 in July and August. We didn't know either hairy vetch in pear orchard affected the occurrence of 4 species of moths, apple aphid and two spotted spider mite or not but was acted to be favorable for wasps, the natural enemies on the contrary. The improvement of chemical control systems through the selection of low chemicals to natural enemies with cover and green manure plants would turn effective pest management into a possibility.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a walking-type two-row sesame reaper, which can simultaneously perform the cutting and collecting of sesame plants and other crops like perilla and soybean. Methods: The factors involved in reaping sesame were determined experimentally in order to design a prototype of the sesame reaper. The prototype is made up of four parts for cutting, conveying, collecting, and running. The height of two disc-plate saw blades on the cutting part is adjusted by an adjusting wheel, and peripheral speed is adjusted in accordance with the running speed. The conveying belt of the conveying part can be tilted from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$. The collecting part extracts a predetermined amount of transferred sesame plants. The prototype was used to evaluate the performance at different working speeds, so that the work efficiency can be calculated. Results: The center of gravity of the sesame plants was 900 mm, measured from the end of the cut stem. The diameter of the disc-plate saw blade was determined to be 355 mm, peripheral speed was 20.4-32.7 m/s, and the picking height of the conveying belt for sesame was 130 mm. The performance of transfer and collection of the sesame, when the insertion angles were $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$, proved to be excellent. However, when the angle was over $120^{\circ}$, the performance was only 75-80%. The performance was at 100% efficiency when the ratio between running speed and conveying belt speed of the prototype was 1:2, which seems to be the ideal ratio for the sesame reaper. Conclusions: A sesame reaper was developed, which can integrate the processes of cutting, conveying, and collecting, by investigating and considering various factors involved in the reaping process. The sesame reaper can reduce the costs for yielding and producing sesame due to its highly efficient performance.
This study was conducted to develop mass production method by proper cutting time, and the concentrations of plant growth regulators of Spiraea spp. Plants of hard wood was cut on March 3th, the rooting rate in S. salicifolia and S. cantoniensis was 11.3% comparatively higher than that about 5% in S. trichocarpa, S. miyabei, S. japonica, S. thunbergii and S. fritschiana. The rooting of control was 6.0%, however the $125{\sim}1,000mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ IBA or NAA for 3 hour soaking was above 15.0% in the S. salicifolia. Therefore soaking in $125mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of IBA or NAA solution was recommended before cutting. The proper cutting time for soft wood from May 7 to September 17 in S. trichocarpa, S. cantoniensis, S. prunifolia, and S. thunbergii was September 17 when the soft stem was changed hard and the temperate was proper for rooting, high and low, $25{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ and $18{\pm}3^{\circ}C$. The rooting of September 17 was above 70% in S. salicifolia and S. fritschiana. However, the rooting from middle of May to early August was low below 20% in all the genus of Spiraea.
Root is supposed to be important role in growth and yield formation of soybeans and also there is expected to exist varietal differences between soybean root morphology and system. 30 soybean varieties including 10 Korean recommended, 10 Introduced and 10 Korean native varieties were grown at field and pot under standard culture condition. Top and root characteristics were investigated at V4, R1 and R5 stage and T/R relations, correlations with yield were calculated. Top characteristics showed significant difference between 3 variety groups of Korean recommended, Introduced and Korean native variety. Stem length at R1 stage and stem length, stem diameter, number of nodes, number of branches, number of pods and grain yield at R5 stage were significantly different top characteristics. Root characteristics showed significant difference between 3 variety groups were number of thick primary root at V4 stage, primary root angle and root cutting strength at R1 stage, thick root diameter and root dry weight at R5 stage. The correlations between top and root characteristics and soybean yield was greatly different by soybean variety groups, and the top characteristics was more highly correlated then root characteristics. All the top and root characteristics of Korean recommended variety showed no correlations with yield. However, leaf area, stem length, top dry weight in Introduced variety and leaf area, top dry weight, number of nodes, number of thick primary root in Korean native variety were highly correlated with soybean yield.
To product the edible fresh shoots of Sedum sarmentosum in summer season, 4 local strains were cultivated with cutting propagation under 0, 30, 50, 70, 90% shading. Effect of shading on shoot growth, leaf chroma value, SPAD value, and bitterness were investigated at 35 days after cutting. Plant height, the number of node and leaf stem diameter in $30{\sim}90%$ shading were increased than in the control, and Pohang local strain had little-overgrowth shoot, thicker stem, a few brenches per shoot, and larger leaf compared to the other local strains. Fresh and dry weight under shading were increased than in the control, dry weight of pohang local strain was highest in 50% shading. Hunter L and b values were decreased out of proportion to higher shading rate. SPAD value in $50{\sim}90%$ shading was significantly lower than in the control. The bitterness of fresh shoot was decreased out of proportion to higher shading rate. In Summer season, producing the fresh shoot of S. sarmentosum was excellent in 50% shading, and Pohang local strain among 4 local strains was more stable and good in yield and quality under shading.
