Many studies have been performed on hybrid fiber reinforced concrete for years, which is to improve some of the weak material properties of concrete. Studies on characteristics of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete using amorphous steel fiber and polyamide fiber, however, yet remain to be done. The purpose of this experimental research is to evaluate the workability and mechanical properties of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete using amorphous steel fiber and polyamide fiber. For this purpose, the hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber(ASF) and polyamide fiber(PAF) were made according to their total volume fraction of 0.5 % for water-binder ratio of 33 %, and then the mechanical properties such as the compressive strength, direct tensile strength, flexural strength, and flexural toughness of those were estimated. It was observed from the test results that the compressive strength was slightly decreased with increasing ASF and decreasing PAF and the effect of fiber combination on the flexural strength was not much but the flexural toughness was relatively largely increased with decreasing ASF and increasing PAF.
Based on the experiment, this paper focuses on studying flexural behavior of splicing concrete-filled glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) tubular composite members connected with steel bars. The test results indicated the confinement effects of GFRP tubes on the concrete core in compression zone began to produce, when the load reached about $50%P_u$ ($P_u$-ultimate load), but the confinement effects in tensile zone was unobvious. In addition, the failure modes of composite members were influenced by the steel ratio of the joint. For splicing unreinforced composite members, the steel ratio more than 1.96% could satisfy the splicing requirements and the steel ratio 2.94% was ideal comparatively. For splicing reinforced specimen, the bearing capacity of specimen with 3.92% steel ratio was higher 21.4% than specimen with 2.94% steel ratio and the latter was higher 21.2% than the contrast non-splicing specimen, which indicated that the steel ratio more than 2.94% could satisfy the splicing requirements and both splicing ways used in the experiment were feasible. So, the optimal steel ratio 2.94% was suggested economically. The experimental results also indicated that the carrying capacity and ductility of splicing concrete-filled GFRP tubular composite members could be improved by setting internal longitudinal rebars.
Concrete-filled steel tubes (CFSTs) are increasingly used as composite sections in structures owing to their excellent load bearing capacity. Therefore, predicting the mechanical behavior of CFST sections under axial compression loading is vital for design purposes. This paper presents the first study on the nonlinear analysis of heated CFSTs with high-strength concrete core containing steel fiber and waste tire rubber under axial compression loading. CFSTs had steel fibers with 0, 1, and 1.5% volume fractions and 0, 5, and 10% rubber particles as sand alternative material. They were subjected to 20, 250, 500, and 750℃ temperatures. Using flow rule and analytical analysis, a model is developed to predict the load bearing capacity of steel tube, and hoop strain-axial strain relationship, and axial stress-volumetric strain relationship of CFSTs. An elastic-plastic analysis method is applied to determine the axial and hoop stresses of the steel tube, considering elastic, yield, and strain hardening stages of steel in its stress-strain curve. The axial stress in the concrete core is determined as the difference between the total experimental axial stress and the axial stress of steel tube obtained from modeling. The results show that steel tube in CFSTs under 750℃ exhibits a higher load bearing contribution compared to those under 20, 250, and 500℃. It is also found that the ratio of load bearing capacity of steel tube at peak point to the load bearing capacity of CFST at peak load is noticeable such that this ratio is in the ranges of 0.21-0.33 and 0.31-0.38 for the CFST specimens with a steel tube thickness of 2 and 3.5 mm, respectively. In addition, after the steel tube yielding, the load bearing capacity of the tube decreases due to the reduction of its axial stiffness and the increase of hoop strain rate, which is in the range of about 20 to 40%.
PURPOSES : The purpose of the study was to examine dynamic features of concrete after mixing a little macro fiber with small aspect ratio and long length utilized for bridge, tunnel and shotcrete for tensile performance and crack control in domestic/overseas countries with cement concrete pavement mix. METHODS : Coarse aggregates with small aspect ratio and macro fibers with maximum length of approximately 32 mm are introduced in small quantities in the mix proportions of concrete pavement so as to prevent loss of the workability. Then, this study intends to evaluate the applicability of macro fibers in the mix proportions of concrete pavement by examining the basic construction performance, as well as the change of toughness, the equivalent bending strength and the flexural toughness index caused by compression, bending, tension and the flexural stress-displacement curve. RESULTS : As the results, in each kind of macro fiber, polyvinyl alcohol fiber and steel fiber displayed a good performance. CONCLUSIONS : In 0.2 and 0.3% of fiber contents, it is appeared that polyvinyl alcohol fiber has a large effect on improvement of tensile performance and steel fiber on improvement of deforming performance of bending stress.
In this study, in order to propose an efficient model to predict the torque capacity of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams, the existing experimental data related to torsional response of beams is reviewed. It is observed that existing data neglects the effects of some parameters on the variation of torque capacity. Thus, an experimental research was also conducted to obtain the effects of neglected parameters. In the experimental study, a total of seventeen SFRC beams are tested against torsion. The parameters considered in the experiments are concrete compressive strength, steel fiber aspect ratio, volumetric ratio of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcement ratio. The effect of each parameter is discussed in terms of torque versus unit angle of twist graphs. The data obtained from this experimental research is also combined with the data got from previous studies and employed in artificial neural network (ANN) analysis to estimate the ultimate torque capacity of SFRC beams. In addition to parameters considered in the experiments, aspect ratio of beam cross-section, yield strengths of both transverse and longitudinal reinforcements, and transverse reinforcement ratio are also defined as parameters in ANN analysis due to their significant effects observed in previous studies. Assessment of the accuracy of ANN analysis in estimating the ultimate torque capacity of SFRC beams is performed by comparing the analytical and experimental results. Comparisons are conducted in terms of root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE) and coefficient of efficiency ($E_f$). The results of this study revealed that addition of steel fibers increases the ultimate torque capacity of reinforced concrete beams. It is also found that ANN is a powerful method and a feasible tool to estimate ultimate torque capacity of both normal and high strength concrete beams within the range of input parameters considered.

Steel fiber and polymer are used widely for reinforcement material of RC structures because of its excellences of the durability, serviceability as well as mechanical properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the shear behavior of polymer cement high strength concrete beams mixed with steel fiber. The compressive strength of concrete was based on the 100$\times$200 mm cylinder specimens. The compressive strength of concrete are 320$kgf/cm^2$, 436 $kgf/cm^2$ and 520 $kgf/cm^2$ in the 28 days. The static test was carried out to measure the ultimate load, the initial load of flexural and diagonal cracking, crack patterns and fracture modes. Also, load-strain and load-deflection examined. During the test cracks were sketched against the load values according to the growth of crack. result are as follows; (1) The failure modes of the specimens are increased in rigidity and durability with mixing steel fiber and polymer. (2) The load of initial crack was similar a theory of shear-crack strength. (3) The deflection and strain at failure load of Polymer-steel fiber high strength concrete beams were increased, improving the brittleness of the high strength concrete.
While ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is commonly reinforced with micro straight steel fibers in existing applications, studies have indicated that the use of deformed steel macro-fibers leads to enhanced ductility and post-peak responses for UHPC structural elements, which is of particular importance for earthquake-resistant structures. However, there are potential concerns regarding the use of UHPC reinforced with macro-fibers due to the issues of workability and fiber distribution. The objective of this study was to address these issues by extensively investigating the restricted and non-restricted deformability, filling ability, horizontal and vertical velocities, and passing ability of UHPC containing macro hooked-end steel fibers. A new approach is suggested to examine the homogeneity of fiber distribution in UHPC. The influences of ultra-fine fillers and steel macro-fibers on the workability of fresh UHPC and the mechanics of hardened UHPC were examined. It was found that although increasing the ratio of quartz powder to cement led to an improvement in the workability and tensile strain hardening behavior of UHPC, it reduced the fiber distribution homogeneity. The addition of 1% volume fraction of macro-fibers in UHPC improved workability, but reduced its compressive strength, which is contrary to the effect of micro-fiber inclusion in UHPC.

This study, the present study wishes to develop a model that estimates shear strength characteristics of steel fiber reinforced concrete using artifical neural network models. Neural network models, developed as mathematical models, are being widely used not only in its original purpose of pattern recognition, but also in application fields by the function's nonlinear loaming and interpolar ability Neural network has a repetitive rotation algorithm that can cyclically and repeatedly estimate system conditions and parameter ideal values, and it can be used in the modeling of the nonlinear system by nonlinear characteristic functions that construct the system.

In order to compare the development performance of headed reinforcing bar and straight reinforcing bar in tension for steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), pullout test of specimens with reinforcing bar which was anchored on simple beam perpendicularly was conducted. The experimental variables were steel fiber volume ratio ($V_{Rsf}$), concrete compressive strength, and existence of head. As the result of test, splitting failure of concrete in the development direction of reinforcing bar in most specimens was observed. For development detail of headed reinforcing deformation bar, specimens with 1% $V_{Rsf}$ showed approximately 63%~119% increase in pullout strength compare to specimens with 0% $V_{Rsf}$. Test result shows that SFRC is more effective in increasing pullout strength for headed reinforcing bars than increasing pullout strength of straight bars.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact resistant performance of steel short fiber-reinforced cement based composites (SFRCCs) containing 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0% volume fraction of steel short fibers subjected to high velocity impact of steel projectile (the diameter of 19.05mm and the mass of 28.13g). The gunpowder impact facility was used for impact tests, and the impact velocity was from about 350 to 700m/s. The specimens were damaged in various failure modes, which are penetration, scabbing, and perforation. Comparing with Plain specimen, SFRCCs have superior capacity on the scabbing limit, and slightly bulged in the back side under the impact velocity of 700m/s. In addition, the impact resistant performance of SFRCCs improved with increase of steel short fiber volume ratio. The fibers play an important role in controlling the local damage of SFRCCs.
