  • Life cycle cost is one of important factors in the evaluation of economy feasibility. Load carrying capacity curves for girders and decks are derived on the basis of bridge diagnostic results and condition grade curves to determine the service life and life cycle profile. The total life cycle costs including initial cost, damage cost, maintenance cost, user cost, and etc for the service life are calculated for steel box girder, PSC-I girder and rationalized plate girder. The optimal designs are performed for various service lifes and different superstructure types. The effects of parameters on the life cycle cost are investigated and the economy feasibility is evaluated through the sensitivity analysis.

Economical efficiency, landscape, constructability, maintenance, stability, function of bridge superstructure were taken into consideration in the designing of bridge. Economical efficiency was evaluated for each alternative plan with optimal design considering Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Repair and rehabilitation histories and some factors were set to get reasonable results. In the application of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), consistency of Pairwise Comparisons Matrix was evaluated and the best plan was determined.

  • This paper proposes a one-dimensional fiber beam element model taking account of materially non-linear behavior, benefiting the highly efficient elastic-plastic analysis of girders with shear-lag effects. Based on the displacement-based fiber beam-column element, two additional degrees of freedom (DOFs) are added into the proposed model to consider the shear-lag warping deformations of the slabs. The new finite element (FE) formulations of the tangent stiffness matrix and resisting force vector are deduced with the variational principle of the minimum potential energy. Then the proposed element is implemented in the OpenSees computational framework as a newly developed element, and the full Newton iteration method is adopted for an iterative solution. The typical materially non-linear behaviors, including the cracking and crushing of concrete, as well as the plasticity of the reinforcement and steel girder, are all considered in the model. The proposed model is applied to several test cases under elastic or plastic loading states and compared with the solutions of theoretical models, tests, and shell/solid refined FE models. The results of these comparisons indicate the accuracy and applicability of the proposed model for the analysis of both concrete box girders and steel-concrete composite girders, under either elastic or plastic states.

  • The Xiaolan channel super large bridge is unique in style and with greatest span in the world with a total length of 7686.57 m. The main bridge with spans arranged as 100m+220m+100m is a combined structure composed of prestressed concrete V-shape rigid frame and concrete-filled steel tubular flexible arch. First of all, the author compiles APDL command flow program by using the unit birth-death technique and establishes simulation calculation model in the whole construction process. The creep characteristics of concrete are also taken into account. The force ratio of the suspender, arch and beam is discussed. The authors conduct studies on the three-plate webs's rule of shear stress distribution, the box girder's longitudinal bending normal stress on every construction stage, meanwhile the distribution law of longitudinal bending normal stress and transverse bending normal stress of completed bridge's box girder. Results show that, as a new combined bridge, it is featured by: Girder and arch resist forces together; Moment effects of the structure are mainly presented as compressed arch and tensioned girder; The bridge type brings the girder and arch on resisting forces into full play; Great in vertical stiffness and slender in appearance.

Therefore it is desirable to determin model considering the required accuracy of the analysis results, the given time restried economy. " Standard Specification for Roadway Bridges" Division V, Seismic Design prove "Single Mode Spectral Analysis Method" as the basic analysis method for the earthquake design of roadway bridges classified as "regular". In this study a 5 span steel box girl selected which satisfies the regularity and the applicability of the provided analysis simplified model in checked. • This study is intended to assess low frequency sound radiated from a viaduct under normal traffic. The bridge comprises steel box girders and wide cantilever decks on which vehicles pass. The low frequency sound and the acceleration response of the bridge under normal traffic are measured to investigate how bridge vibrations affect the low frequency sound observed near the bridge. Observations demonstrate that strong relationships exist between frequency characteristic of bridge's acceleration response and the sound pressure level of low frequency sound. A noteworthy point is that the dynamic feature of the sound pressure level is mostly affected by dynamic feature of the span locating near the observation point.

  • It studies the non-structural crack factors that are produced in Steel Box Girder Bridge concrete floor plate using analytical method. It mainly studies humidity and design standard of concrete strength. It used MIDAS CIVIL Ver 5.4.0, a general structure analysis program that applies drying shrinkage rate of domestic road bridge design standard and standard value of creep coefficient, CEF-FIP standard equation and ACI standard equation from the aspect of creep, drying shrinkage and hydration heat to see the effect of the two factors on concrete crack and found the following result. The analytical results of this study showed that the initial stress, which was obtained by ACI standard, exceeds the allowable tensile stress between 5 to 18 days. This result means that even if a bridge is designed and constructed according to design standard, the bridge can have cracks due to various variables such as drying shrinkage, hydration heat and creep that produce stress in slab.
