소형시험편의 Master Curve 방법을 이용한 원자로 압력용기강의 파괴인성 천이특성평가 (Evaluation of the Fracture Toughness Transition Characteristics of RPV Steels Based on the ASTM Master Curve Method Using Small Specimens)

  • Fracture toughness of five different reactor pressure vessel steels was characterized in the transition temperature region by the ASTM E1921-97 standard method using Charpy-sized small specimens. T he predominant fracture mode of the tested steels was transgranular cleavage in the test conditions. A statistical analysis based on the Weibull distribution was applied to the interpretation of the scattered fracture toughness data. The size-dependence of the measured fracture toughness values was also well predicted by means of the Weibull probabilistic analysis. The measured fracture toughness transition curves followed the temperature-dependence of the ASTM master curve within the expected scatter bands. Therefore, the fracture toughness characteristics in the transition region could be described by a single parameter, so-called the reference temperature (T。), for a given steel. The determined reference temperatures of the tested materials could not be correlated with the conventional index temperatures from Charpy impact tests.

GFRP 슬래브 교량의 장기성능 평가 (Long-Term Performance Evaluation of a GFRP Slab Bridge)

  • 본 논문은 GFRP 슬래브 교량 상부구조에 대한 장기성능, 내하력, 사용성 및 구조적 안전성의 상세한 평가를 기술하고 있다. 국내 최초로 완전 GFRP 슬래브 교량이 2002년 5월에 가설되었다. GFRP 슬래브 교량은 단순지지로 지간 10.0 m, 폭 8.0 m 인 2차선으로 설계되었다. 본 GFRP 슬래브교량은 콜루게이트(corrugate) 심재를 갖는 샌드위치 구조로서 유리섬유와 비닐 에스테르를 사용하여 수적층으로 제작되었다. GFRP 슬래브 교량의 장기성능 평가는 2002년 수행되었던 동일한 현장재하시험으로 2004, 2011년에 실시되었다. GFRP 슬래브교량은 예상되었던 대로 공용 중에서 구조적 문제점이 없이 성능이 잘 발휘되고 있었음을 평가를 통하여 나타내고 있다. 본 평가 자료는 GFRP 슬래브 교량의 내하력 평가에 대한 기초자료와 완전 GFRP 슬래브교량 상부구조의 장기성능의 일부자료로서 제공될 수 있을 것이다.

플레이트 거더의 수평보강재 필요 강성에 관한 해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on Required Stiffness of Longitudinal Stiffener in Plate Girders)

  • 본 연구에서는 판 형상의 수평보강재가 한쪽에만 설치되는 통상적인 보강 웨브에서 수평보강재의 필요 강성에 대한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 실제 교량용 플레이트 거더는 대부분 비대칭 단면이지만 제작성을 감안하여 수평보강재를 통상 웨브 높이의 1/5인 0.2D 부근에 설치하고 있다. 이러한 점을 감안하여 보강재가 0.16D~0.24D 범위에 설치되는 조건에 대해 단면의 비대칭성과 웨브의 형상비를 고려하여 수평보강재의 강성비(${\gamma}^*$)에 따른 고유치 해석을 수행하고 좌굴강도를 평가하였다. 이로부터 AASHTO LRFD 기준의 좌굴강도를 만족하는 수평보강재의 필요 강성을 제안하였다.

Experimental study on standard and innovative bolted end-plate beam-to-beam joints under bending

  • The paper presents the details and results of an experimental study on bolted end-plate joints of industrial type steel building frames. The investigated joints are commonly used in Lindab-Astron industrial buildings and are optimized for manufacturing, erection and durability. The aim of the research was to provide an experimental background for the design model development by studying load-bearing capacity of joints, bolt force distribution, and end-plate deformations. Because of the special joint details, (i.e., joints with four bolts in one bolt-row and HammerHead arrangements), the Eurocode 3 standardized component model had to be improved and extended. The experimental programme included six different end-plate and bolt arrangements and covered sixteen specimens. The steel grade of test specimens was S355, the bolt diameter M20, whereas the bolt grade was 8.8 and 10.9 for the two series. The end-plate thickness varied between 12 mm and 24 mm. The specimens were investigated under pure bending conditions using a four-point-bending test arrangement. In all tests the typical displacements and the bolt force distribution were measured. The end-plate plastic deformations were measured after the tests by an automatic measuring device. The measured data were presented and evaluated by the moment-bolt-row force and moment-distance from centre of compression diagrams and by the deformed end-plate surfaces. From the results the typical failure modes and the joint behaviour were specified and presented. Furthermore the influence of the end-plate thickness and the pretension of the bolts on the behaviour of bolted joints were analysed.

Numerical performance assessment of Tuned Mass Dampers to mitigate traffic-induced vibrations of a steel box-girder bridge

  • In this paper, the effects of Tuned Mass dampers (TMDs) on the reduction of the vertical vibrations of a real horizontally curved steel box-girder bridge due to different traffic loads are numerically investigated. The performance of TMDs to reduce the bridge vibrations can be affected by the parameters such as dynamic characteristics of TMDs, the location of TMDs, the speed and weight of vehicles. In the first part of this study, the effects of mass ratio, damping percentage, frequency ratio, and location of TMDs on the performance of TMDs to decrease vertical vibrations of different sections of bridge deck are evaluated. In the second part, the performance of TMD is investigated for different speeds and weights of traffic loads. Results show that the mass ratio of TMDs is the more effective parameter in reducing imposed vertical vibration in comparison with the damping ratio. Furthermore, it is found that TMD is very sensitive to its tuned frequency, i.e., with a little deviation from a suitable frequency, the expected performance of TMD significantly decreased. TMDs have a positive and considerable performance at certain vehicle speeds and this performance declines when the weight of traffic loads is increased. Besides, the results reveal that the highest impact of TMD on the reduction of the vertical vibrations is when free vibrations occur for the bridge deck. In that case, maximum reductions of 24% and 59% are reported in the vertical acceleration of the bridge deck for the forced and free vibration amplitudes, respectively. The maximum reduction of 13% is also obtained for the maximum displacement of the bridge deck. The results are mainly related to the resonance condition.

Investigation of the vibration of lattice composite conical shells formed by geodesic helical ribs

  • In this paper free linear vibration of lattice composite conical shells will be investigated. Lattice composite conical shell consists of composite helical ribs and thin outer skin. A smeared method is employed to obtain the variable coefficients of stiffness of conical shell. The ribs are modeled as a beam and in addition to the axial loads, endure shear loads and bending moments. Therefore, theoretical formulations are based on first-order shear deformation theory of shell. For verification of the obtained results, comparison is made with those available in open literature. Also, using FEM software the 3D finite element model of composite lattice conical shell is built and analyzed. Comparing results of analytical and numerical analyses show a good agreement between them. Some special cases as variation of geometric parameters of lattice part, effect of the boundary conditions and influence of the circumferential wave numbers on the natural frequencies of the conical shell are studied. It is concluded, when mass and the geometrical ratio of the composite lattice conical shell do not change, increment the semi vertex angle of cone leads to increase the natural frequencies. Moreover for shell thicknesses greater than a specific value, the presence of the lattice structure has not significant effect on the natural frequencies. The obtained results have novelty and can be used for further and future researches.

고온 환경에서 합금의 마모 및 마찰 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Wear Properties of Alloys in High Temperature Condition)

  • In this work we investigated the friction and wear characteristics of a magnesium alloy, which has been receiving much attention as a light metal in industrial applications such as automobiles and aerospace. Magnesium is one of the lightest structural material that has high specific strength, lightweight, low density and good formability. However, current issue of using magnesium alloy is that magnesium has weakness against temperature. As the temperature increases, magnesium undergoes poor creep resistance and ease of softening, and therefore, its mechanical strength decreases sharply. To solve this issue, a new type of magnesium alloy that retains high strength at high temperature has been proposed. The tribological behavior of this alloy was investigated using a tribotester with reciprocating motion and heating plate. A stainless steel ball was used as a counter surface. Results showed that extrusion process has similar wear behavior to the commonly used casting process but retains good mechanical strength and durability. The presence of an alloying element enhanced the wear properties especially in high temperature. This study is expected to be utilized as fundamental data for the replacement of high density materials currently used in mechanical industries to a much lighter and durable heat-resistant materials.

가금 유래 병원성대장균의 생화학적 성상 및 혈청형 (Biochemical properties and serotypes of pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from poultry in Korea)

  • This study was conducted to investigate biochemical properties and O group serotypes of pathogenic 203 Escherichia (E.) coli isolates from poultry with collibacillosis in Korea during the period from April 2003 to December 2005. Biochemical and fermentative properties of 203 isolates of E. coli tested were in accordance with Cowan and Steel's classification standard. One hundred and forty one isolates (69.5%) could be classified into a total of 20 O serotypes. Among them, the predominant O groups were O78 (32.5%), O88 (7.8%), O15 (6.8%), O141 (6.4%), and O158 (3.0%) in decreased order. Other infrequently encountered serogroups included : O8 (2%), O161 (2%), O20 (1.5%), O125 (1.5%), O2 (1%). And O6, O18, O24, O46, O76, O109, O119, O138, O139 and O148 had a frequency of 0.5%, respectively. Sixty two isolates (30.5%) were non-typeable with standard 173 O antisera used in this study.

서울지역 일부 급식학교 편식기 중 합성세제 잔류양 및 미생물 오염도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Residual Surfactants and the Microbial Contaminants on Stainless dishes)

  • This study was performed to investigate the remainity of synthetic surfactant (LAS) by HPLC and the microbial contamination on stainless steel dishes. For the maintenance and the improvement of school lunch program's safety, the remainity of synthetic surfactants (LAS) on stainless steel dishes washed with auto dishwasher was investigated by HPLC, and the microbial contamination on same dishes was surveyed. The results were as follows: (1) The remainity of synthetic surfactant (LAS) a) The residue of LAS was very small because of the repeated washing of dishes by strong pressurized water. b) The remainity range of LAS on stainless steel dishes was 2.1~7.2 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dish. The remainity of general surfactants was higher in cold water then warm water. The amount of residual general surfatants was 5.95 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dish in cold water, and 2.95 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dish in warm water. There was no difference of the remainity of special surfactants by water temperature. The amount of residual surfactants was 3.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$/dish. c) There was no difference of residue amount by washing times. (2) The microbial contamination after washing with general surfactants. 1) The mean MPN of E. coli was 203(53~345) on 1 hr, 19(6~28) on 2 hrs, in cold water, and 1100(only 1 dish of 1 school) on 1 hr, 24(6~42) on 2hrs. 2) After washing with general surgactants the mean of contamination by general microbials was 956(25~2300)on 1 hr, 694(45~2500) on 2 hrs. in cold water and 803(5~2300) on 1 hr, 671(5~2500)on 2 hrs. After washing with special surfactants the mean of contamination by general microbials was 788(136~2900) on 1 hr, 1122(15~3000) on 2 hrs, in cold water and 537(5~2000) on 1 hr, 88(15~150) on 2 hrs in warm water. (3) Like the results of this study, the good washing methods of stainless steel dishes for school luch program were as follows. First, for washing stainless steel dishes, the use of special surfactants was recommended at 30~4$0^{\circ}C$ water. Second, at 7$0^{\circ}C$ water, the rinsing of dishes was recommended. Third, the final rinsing at 8$0^{\circ}C$ combined with simple disinfection and dry was recommended.

화학적 등급화기법을 적용한 농공단지 입주제한업종의 환경유해성 평가 (The Environmental Hazard Assessment of Siting Restricted Industries from Industrial Complex in Rural Area Applied by Chemical Ranking and Scoring System)

  • 농공단지에 입주제한된 31개 업종의 업종별 배출특성에 따른 화학적 유해성을 근거로 업종별 환경영향을 계량화하여 입지규제 우선순위을 도출하였다. 농공단지에 입주제한된 31개 업종의 환경상의 악영향과 환경기술발전에 따른 환경유해성 저감을 동시에 고려한 합리적 토지이용 관리방안을 수립하기 위하여 업종별로 수계, 토양 및 대기의 매체별 배출량 및 배출물질 $LC_{50}$ 자료에 의해 산정된 인체위해성과 생태위해성을 노출평가와 독성평가로 분석하는 화학적 등급화기법(CRS : Chemical Ranking and Scoring System)에 PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers) 자료를 활용하였다. 농공단지 폐수배출관련 31개 업종에 대한 환경유해성을 도출한 결과에 의하면 2012년 기준으로 도금 착색 및 기타 표면처리강재 제조업, 생물학적 제제 제조업, 동 제련정련 및 합금 제조업, 솜 및 실 염색가공업, 그외 기타 1차철강 제조업, 기타 비철금속 압연압출 및 연신제품 제조업 등 6개 업종은 환경영향 점수가 상대적으로 낮게 산출되어 제조공정상에서 특정수질유해물질을 배출허용기준 이하로 배출된다고 인정하는 경우에 농공단지 입주제한을 완화시킬 수 있는 업종으로 평가된다.
