Using computer simulated irregular waves, variations of ocean wave statistics according to sea state are analyzed, and the reasonable conditions that transform the energy spectrum to individual wave statistics are discussed. Ocean wave statistics varying with sea state are found to respond linearly to the spectral peakedness parameter $Q_p$ and spectrum moments $m_n$ (n = 0, 1, 2${\cdots}{\cdots}\;\infty$ ). It is clarified that the 2nd-order spectrum moment is a reasonable parameter which represents the wave statistics including wave periods, and that the spectrum analysis should be carried out under the conditions of minimum data length of 10 times of peak period $T_p$ with time lag of $7T_p$ to satisfy the stable condition of wave statistics.

Anecdotes can produce an emotional and simple response that decreases stress and anxiety in a classroom. The use of anecdotes in building concepts of statistics can support an effective way of teaching and learning statistics. Particularly, we demonstrate several anecdotes including pictures as the medium of image that are designed to motivate statistical ideas by placing them at the beginning of a lecture and by appealing to prospective teachers weighed down. Our purpose is that under the constructivist view, prospective teachers have an opportunity effectively to teach statistical concepts using humorous anecdotes and to experience significant beliefs on identifying some frequent misconceptions in statistics. At this procedure, the anecdotal teaching practice is concerned with describing and evaluating many humorous anecdotes we have found useful in teaching introductory statistics. We hope that this paper can be helpful to prospective teachers who will teach students such topics as descriptive statistics, sampling, and hypothesis testing.

통계에 대한 사회적 관심이 점차 높아져 통계학 교육의 중요성이 대두되고 있지만 대학에서의 통계학 교육은 수리적인 면에 치우쳐 있어 학생들의 관심이 저하되는 것이 사실이다. 흥미로운 학습이 가장 효율적이라는 가정하에 통계학습의 흥미 유발과 이해능력 향상을 위해서는 학습자들이 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 통계교육도구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 통계교육도구 (PETS)는 엑셀 매크로를 사용하여 개발한 것으로, 결과만 보여주는 것이 아니라 중간과정과 설명들을 함께 나타내어 학습자 스스로 효율적인 통계학습을 할 수 있게 만들었다.

Few studies are found in literature on estimation of population quantiles using the method of ranked set sampling (RSS). The optimal RSS strategy is to select observations with at most two fixed rank order statistics from different ranked sets. In this paper, a near optimal unbalanced RSS model for estimating p^th(0 < p < 1) population quantile is proposed. Main advantage of this model is to use each rank order statistics and is distributionfree. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) for balanced RSS, unbalanced optimal and proposed near-optimal methods are computed for different values of p. We also compared these AREs with respect to simple random sampling. The results show that proposed unbalanced RSS performs uniformly better than balanced RSS for all set sizes and is very close to the optimal RSS for large set sizes. For the practical utility, the near optimal unbalanced RSS is recommended for estimating the quantiles.

We showed that any missing mechanism is reproduced by EMAR or MNAR with equal fit for observed likelihood if there are non-negative solutions of maximum likelihood equations. This is a generalization of Molenberghs et al. (2008) and Jeon et al. (2019). Nonetheless, as MCAR becomes a nested model of MNAR, a natural question is whether or not MNAR and MCAR are testable by using the well-known three statistics, LR (Likelihood ratio), Wald, and Score test statistics. Through simulation studies, we compared these three statistics. We investigated to what extent the boundary solution affect tesing MCAR against MNAR, which is the only testable pair of missing mechanisms based on observed likelihood. We showed that all three statistics are useful as long as the boundary proximity is far from 1.

2010년을 전후로 미국에서 시작된 데이터과학의 인기는 국내 대학의 여러 통계학과 교육에 큰 영향을 주고 있다. 그러나 국내 학술지에서는 데이터과학을 효율적으로 교육하기 위한 컴퓨팅 환경 구축과 활용을 다루는 연구 결과는 많지 않다. 본 논문은 국내의 통계학과 및 데이터과학 관련 학과의 교육과 연구에 적합한 컴퓨팅 인프라 구축과 활용에 관한 문제를 논의하고 해결책을 제시한다.
