  • The purpose of this study was to develop the jacket pattern drafting method for Korean middle-aged women. The study was composed as follows : 1. Body measurement and statistical analysis : Two hundreds and forty four middle-aged women between the ages of forty five and fifty nine were measured on 52 items. 2. Development of new jacket pattern drafting method : Measurement items necessary to draft new jacket pattern were back waist length, bust girth, waist girth, hip girth, back interscye breadth, front interscye breadth, neck base girth, nipple length, nipple to nipple breadth, 1/2 posterior shoulder length and sleeve length. Basic jackets constructed from the experimental patterns were examined through the fitting test. 3. Evaluation of the new pattern drafting method : The sensory evaluations for appearance and comfort were applied to evaluate the new jacket pattern by comparing it with one of the conventional jacket patterns (Lee Hyung-Suk's). According to the result of sensory evaluation, the new jacket pattern was more positive.

  • An effective live load model for analyzing probable maximum live load effects such as moment and shear in transverse direction was developed. The main procedure of this live load model is composed of four parts, i.e., firstly, determination of the appropriate influence lines in longitudinal direction, secondly, application of the characteristics of vehicles and traffic patterns in longitudinal direction, thirdly, determination of the appropriate influence lines in transverse direction, and fourthly, application of the characteristics of vehicles and traffic patterns in transverse direction. Through this procedure, the probabilistic distributions of maximum probable load effects are deduced in the form of probability density function (PDF) and/or cumulative density function(CDF). This live load model is able to consider local or global deterioration of bridges in the structural analysis.

  • Objectives: In this study a pattern questionnaire for damum patterns was developed by means of literature review and statistical analysis. The individual approach of korean medicine is based on the concept of pattern identification, the objectivity and validity issues of which hold important meaning in the pratice and research. Methods: Review of literatures led to the selection of 22 items describing Dam or Um pattern. A preliminary questinnaire consisted of these items that may be scored with positive score at zero to seven. Results: Damum is all over the body syndromes. That is abnormal body conditions. Damun arouse body pain, breath disorder, digestion disorder, nerves disorder, excretion disorder. Conclusions: Review of literatures led to selection of 29 items describing Damun. A questionnaire is in preparation.

  • This paper introduces a new framework of predicting the arrival time of an aircraft by incorporating the probabilistic information of what type of trajectory pattern will be applied by human air traffic controllers. The proposed method is based on identifying the major patterns of vectored trajectories and finding the statistical relationship of those patterns with various traffic complexity factors. The proposed method is applied to the traffic scenarios in real operations to demonstrate its performances.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze a change of maximal grip forces and EMG of agonists in upper extremity of 8 professional Ssirum players according to Satbar-grip patterns, to elucidate prime agonist muscles, contribution rate of each muscle, and a difference on EMG in upper extremity. one-way ANOVA(RM) performed for average and maximal values of each player after standardization and statistical significance was set as p<.05. The result includes the following: the highest grip force was A type with a statistic significance using one-way ANOVA and Duncan's comparison between A and C type. In summary the highest grip force was exerted on extension in the wrist than flexion in all grip types. Average and maximal values of biceps brachii and brachioradialis muscles were statistically significant and ones of flexor carpi ulnaris and extensor capi ulnaris were not.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the changes in transportation expenditure patterns of urban households during 1985-19o8. The data were drawn from 'Annual Report on the family Income and Expenditure Survey' by National Statistical Office, Republic of Korea. For data analysis, frequency, percentile, mean, and multiple regression analysis were utilized by the SAS window program. The results of this study were as follows; Frist, the levels of public transportation expenditure showed increasing trend, whereas the portions of public transportation expenditure have showed decreasing trend during 1985-1998. And both the level and the portion of private transportation expenditure showed increasing trends during 1985-1998. Second, the marginal propensities to consume of public transportation have decreased, whereas the marginal propensities to consume of private transportation have increased during 1985-1998. Third, income elasticities of public transportation showed decreasing trend during 1985-1998, impling that consumers have less demand public transportation with increasing income. And income elasticities of private transportation showed increasing trend till 1993, and then showed decreasing trend till 1998, impling that consumers have perceived the car as one of necessary goods rather than luxury goods gradually since 1993.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the patterns of consumption deprivation and to compare the level of consumption deprivation by them. For empirical analysis, this study used the data on 563 households in the city of Inchon collected by the researchers through interviews. The statistical methods used in this study were cluster analysis, oneway ANOVA, and crosstabs. four clusters were classified: 'Overall satisfied Pattern (OSP)', 'Food satisfid with Others deprived Pattern (FS-ODP)', Food Extremely deprived with Food Deprive Pattern (HED-FDP)'. Those I FED-HSP tended to be old aged, and those in GED-FDP tended to be urban unstable workers. The results imply that welfare policy for urban poor households should be differentiated by the characteristics of consumption of each pattern of consumption deprivation.

  • Energy demands for offices in Korea are surveyed and analyzed to generate communicational models for simulations. Daily energy loads of 13 office buildings scattered in the 6 largest cities in the country are surveyed and analyzed based on energy consumption log sheets. Detailed hourly loads that are frequently required when a detailed operation simulation is performed are measured using remote data acquisition processes for 3 offices. The complete load demand models of electricity, cooling, heating and hot water are established by combining the daily and hourly patterns based on the statistical behavior of the hourly patterns.

  • Magnetic helicity injection in 28 solar active regions producing 46 CMEs was investigated to find its relationship with the occurrence and speed of CMEs. The helicity injection in the active regions under investigation was calculated using full-disk 96 minute MDI magnetograms. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, the 46 CMEs are categorized into two different groups by two characteristic evolution patterns of helicity injection in their active regions: (1) a monotonically increasing of helicity accumulation (Group A; 30 CMEs in 23 active regions) and (2) significant helicity injection followed by its sign reversal (Group B; 16 CMEs in 5 active regions). Second, a fairly good correlation between the helicity injection rate and the CME speed is found for the 30 CME events in Group A. Further statistical studies, however, are needed to check whether the two characteristic helicity patterns are shown in other CME-productive active regions.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diet quality of the menus delivered by 17 free meal service centers for the low-income home-bound elderly in Chung- cheong buk-Do. Statistical data analysis was compleleted using the SPSS package program for descriptive analysis, T-test, and ANOVA. The meals offered by free meal service centers were not met the 1/3 recommended dietary allowances in calcium and vitamin $B_2$. There were significant differences between dependent variables(nutrient content, nutrient density, nutrient deficiency, NAR, MAR, food group intake patterns) and independent variables (operation type, operation status, operation period, nutritionist, food cost).
