In this paper, static and dynamic bending of nanocomposite micro beam armed with CNTs considering agglomeration effect is studied. The structural damping is considered by Kelvin-Voigt model. The agglomeration effects are assumed using Mori-Tanaka model. The micro beam is modeled by third order shear deformation theory (TSDT). The motion equations are derived by principle of Hamilton's and energy method assuming size effects on the basis of Eringen theory. Using differential quadrature method (DQM) and Newmark method, the static and dynamic deflections of the structure are obtained. The effects of agglomeration and CNTs volume percent, damping of structure, nonlocal parameter, length and thickness of micro-beam are presented on the static and dynamic deflections of the nanocomposite structure. Results show that with increasing CNTs volume percent, the static and dynamic deflections are decreased. In addition, enhancing the nonlocal parameter yields to higher static and dynamic deflections.

In this paper, a multi-step optimization using a G.A. (Genetic Algorithm) with variable penalty function is introduced to the structural design optimization of a 5-head route machine. Our design procedure consist of two design optimization stage. The first stage of the design optimization is static design optimization. The following stage is dynamic design optimization stage. In the static optimization stage, the static compliance and weight of the structure are minimized simultaneously under some dimensional constraints and deflection limits. On the other hand, the dynamic compliance and the weight of the machine structure are minimized simultaneously in the dynamic design optimization stage. As the results, dynamic compliance of the 5-head router machine was decreased by about 37% and the weight of the structure was decreased by 4.48% respectively compared with the simplified structure model.

Automobile crash optimization is nonlinear dynamic response structural optimization that uses highly nonlinear crash analysis in the time domain. The equivalent static loads (ESLs) method has been proposed to solve such problems. The ESLs are the static load sets generating the same displacement field as that of nonlinear dynamic analysis. Linear static response structural optimization is employed with the ESLs as multiple loading conditions. Nonlinear dynamic analysis and linear static structural optimization are repeated until the convergence criteria are satisfied. Nonlinear dynamic crash analysis for frontal analysis may not have boundary conditions, but boundary conditions are required in linear static response optimization. This study proposes a method to use the inertia relief method to overcome the mismatch. An optimization problem is formulated for the design of an automobile frontal structure and solved by the proposed method.

All the loads in the real world are dynamic loads and structural optimization under dynamic loads is very difficult. Thus the dynamic loads are often transformed to static loads by dynamic factors, which are believed equivalent to the dynamic loads. However, due to the difference of load characteristics, there can be considerable differences between the results from static and dynamic analyses. When the natural frequency of a structure is high, the dynamic analysis result is similar to that of static analysis due to the small inertia effect on the behavior of the structure. However, if the natural frequency of the structure is low, the inertia effect should not be ignored. Then, the behavior of the dynamic system is different from that of the static system. The difference of the two cases can be explained from the relationship between the homogeneous and the particular solutions of the differential equation that governs the behavior of the structure. Through various examples, the difference between the dynamic analysis and the static analysis are shown. Also dynamic response optimization results are compared with the results with static loads transformed from dynamic loads by dynamic factors, which show the necessity of the design considering dynamic loads.
Seismic analysis methods in use on ground structure are equivalentstatic analysis, response-displacement method and dynamic analysis etc. Equivalentstatic analysis does not considerdynamic effect, and dynamic analysis process is very complex. then 'Urbanrail transit earthquake-resistance design standard (2005.06)' is persuading that analyze by response displacement method that consider enough dynamic effect of ground structure statically. But, It is very complex and difficult to apply response-displacement method in the field. So, modified equivalentstatic analysis or pseudo static analysis that is easy to apply in the field and have rationality of design is practically used. In this study, I try to prescribe the applicable scale of structure and static analysis that have calculative effectiveness about response-displacement method by comparing and analyzing the result of each analysis method according to the scale of urban rail transit' box type concrete structure and by performing seismic analysis that apply modified equivalentstatic analysis, pseudo static analysis and response-displacement method changing the kind of ground, depth of bedrock, size of structure.

There are basically two methods for the seismic design of underground structures ; analytical or pseudo-static, and dynamical method. In pseudo-static analysis approach, the ground deformations are imposed as a static load and soil-structure interaction does not include dynamic or wave propagation effects. However the behavior of soil structure interaction is nonlinear, it needs to consider nonlinear soil-structure interaction effects. In this study simplified seismic analysis method to consider soil-structure interaction by iterative procedure is proposed and the results are compared and analyzed by a finite difference computer program.
As a thin-walled structure, local joint flexibility (LJF) in a tubular structure is prominent, and it may produce significant effect on the static performance for the overall structure. This study presents a simplified analytical model to analyze the static behavior for a steel tubular structure with LJF. The presented model simplifies a tubular structure into a frame model consisted of beam elements with considering the LJFs at the connections between any two elements. Theoretical equations of the simplified analytical model are deduced. Through comparison with 3-D finite element results of two typical planar tubular structures consisted of T- and Y-joints respectively, the presented method is proved to be accurate. Furthermore, the effect of LJF on the overall performance of the two tubular structures (including the deflection and the internal forces) is also investigated, and it is found from analyses of internal forces and deformation that a rigid connection assumption in a frame model by using beam elements in finite element analysis can provide unsafe and inaccurate estimation.

This paper introduces the structural design optimization of a high speed machining center using multi-step optimization combined with G.A.(Genetic Algorithm) and Weighted Method. In this case, the design problem is to find out the best design variables which minimize the static compliance, the dynamic compliance, and the weight of the machine structure simultaneously. Dimensional thicknesses of the thirteen structural members of the machine structure are adopted as design variables. The first step is the cross-section configuration optimization, in which the area moment of inertia of the cross-section for each structural member is maximized while its area is kept constant The second step is a static design optimization, In which the static compliance and the weight of the machine structure are minimized under some dimensional and safety constraints. The third step IS a dynamic design optimization, where the dynamic compliance and the structure weight are minimized under the same constraints. After optunization, static and dynamic compliances were reduced to 62.3% and 95.7% Eorn the initial design, while the weight of the moving bodies are also in the feaslble range.
In this paper, dynamic and static bending of ball modelled by nanocomposite microbeam by nanoparticles seeing agglomeration is presented. The structural damping is considered by Kelvin-Voigt model. The agglomeration effects are assumed using Mori-Tanaka model. The football ball is modeled by third order shear deformation theory (TSDT). Results show that with increasing CNTs volume percent, the maximum dimensionless dynamic deflection is reduced about 17%. In addition, assuming CNTs agglomeration increases the dimensionless dynamic deflection about 14%. It is also found that with increasing the CNTs volume percent from 0 to 0.15, the static deflection is decreased about 3 times due to the enhance in the stiffness of the structure. In addition, with enhancing the nonlocal parameters, the dynamic deflection is increased about 3.1 times.
A novel probabilistic approach is presented for estimating the equivalent static wind loads that produce a static response of the structure, which is "equivalent" in a probabilistic sense, to the extreme dynamic responses due to the unsteady pressure random field induced by the wind. This approach has especially been developed for complex structures (such as stadium roofs) for which the unsteady pressure field is measured in a boundary layer wind tunnel with a turbulent incident flow. The proposed method deals with the non-Gaussian nature of the unsteady pressure random field and presents a model that yields a good representation of both the quasi-static part and the dynamical part of the structural responses. The proposed approach is experimentally validated with a relatively simple application and is then applied to a stadium roof structure for which experimental measurements of unsteady pressures have been performed in boundary layer wind tunnel.
