In this study, fire resistance of steel fiber reinforced concrete was investigated Cylindrical and prismatic specimens made of Ordinary Portland Cement plain concrete and steel fiber reinforced concrete were exposed to heating in accordance with a standard time-temperature curve as specified in KS·F22 57, method of fire resistance test for structural parts of buildings, the period of heating was 1 hour and 2 hours. After the fire resistance test, mechanical properties of specimens such as compressive and bending strength, stress-strain curve, static and dynamic modulus of elasticity and bending toughness were investigated. Also the cracks and spallings of the specimens were observed. From the test results, it was confirmed that steel fiber reinforced concrete has a excellent fire resistance than plain concrete in the view of higher residual strength of concrete and smaller crackings because of steel fibers in concrete.
The purpose of present paper is to estimate the static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic) laminates having impact damage(FOD). The specimens which are formed with the different stacking composition, EPOXY and PEEK matirx and orthotropic and quasi-isotropic laminated plates, are prepared for this experiment. A steel ball is impacted on CFRP laminates, generating impact damages, and the three-point fatigue bending test is carried out by using the impacted laminates to investigate the influence of the stackin composition on the fatigue strength of CFRP laminates.
The present study aims to design a multilayer microstrip antenna with composite sandwich construction and investigate fatigue behavior of this multilayer SAS (surface antenna structure) that was asymmetric sandwich structure for the next generation of structural surface technology. This term, SAS, indicates that the structural surface becomes an antenna. Constituent materials were selected considering electrical properties, dielectric constant and tangent loss as well as mechanical properties. For the antenna performance, antenna elements inserted into structural layers were designed for satellite communication at a resonant frequency of 12.2 GHz. From electrical measurements, it was shown that antenna performances were in good agreement with design requirements. In cyclic 4-point bending, flexure behavior was investigated by static and fatigue test. Fatigue life curve of the SAS was obtained. The experimental results of bending fatigue were compared with single load level fatigue life prediction equations and in good agreement. The SAS concept is can be extended to give a useful guide for manufacturers of structural body panels as well as antenna designers.
It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of non-ballasted railway bridge (steel plate girder type) with ballast reinforced on the finite element analysis, field test and laboratory test far the static and dynamic responses. The major objective of this study is to investigate the effects and application of reinforcement for steel plate girder railway bridge by the external post-tensioning method. The reinforcement of non-ballast railway bridge had obviously stable dynamic behaviors due to the additional dead force which was ballast. But in case of static behaviors, static displacements and stresses had increased nearly the allowable values. Therefore we analyzed the mechanical behaviors of non-ballasted railway bridge with ballast reinforced and external post-tensioning reinforced on the finite element analysis and laboratory test for the static and dynamic behavior. As a result, the reinforcement of ballasted railway bridge the external post-tensioning method are obviously effective for the additional dead force which is ballast. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate the post-tension force decrease bending behavior and deflection in composite bridge for serviceability. The servicing railway bridge with ballast reinforced has need of the reasonable reinforcement measures which could be reducing the effect of additional dead load that degradation phenomenon of structure by an unusual. stresses and a drop durability.
This study is to examine bond strength of beam reinforced with GFRP rebar under 4-point bending test by adopting BRITISH STANDARD. The variables were made to have bonding length of 5times$(5d_b)$, 10times$(10d_b)$ and 15times$(15d_b)$ of the nominal diameter of GFRP rebar and were done to analyze the relationship between the bonding strength and the slip. In the result of the test, pull-out failure was dominant in the $5d_b$ and $10d_b$ specimen, both patterns of the pull-out failure and concrete splitting failure appeared in the $10d_b$. On the other hand, the $15d_b$ specimen showed only concrete splitting failure at the end of bonding length. Therefore, it was prove that available bonding length of the GFRP rebar under bending condition on static test is over $15d_b$ then farther research such as fatigue bending test, development of bonding model, FEM parameter study should be performed.
In soft grounds with deep bearing stratum, the PHC piles are generally joined by welding or prefabricated method. However, the existing joining methods have some problems in a side view of workability, quality and cost etc. In this study, a new joining method of PHC piles, which removes the problems of the existing methods, is developed. Static and dynamic load tests in fields as well as laboratory tests such as tensile and bending tests are conducted to investigate the workability and structural safety of PHC piles joined by the new method. The test results show that tensile and bending resistances of the joint part are higher than those of PHC pile itself. PHC piles with 400mm diameter are joined by the new method within 4 minutes while 25 minutes for welding method. Bearing capacities of the PHC piles joined by the new method are nearly the same as those of jointed PHC piles by welding method.
On this study, the variations of hardness and microstructure were observed at he spot-welded part of 5182 alminum alloy sheets with thickness of 1.2 mm. The hardness of spot-welded part of aluminum alloy indicated the lowest value at nugget center. Also, the position where fatigue crack exists was investigated by surveying microstructure of the spot-welded sections. Mean load-deformation diagrams were obtained from static tensile test. Fracture was occurred completely within 5 mm after transforming elastic into plastic area. Fatigue test was stopped when the specimens of fatigue test had the final displacement of 0.2mm and measured fatigue bending angle and crack length. This study utilized them, investigated the relations between fatigue bending angle and fatigue crack length and made a estimation of the fatigue fracture life of resistance spot welded part of 5182 aluminum alloy sheet. The relative equation o fatigue crack length and fatigue failure life can be represented by {TEX}$L_{C}${/TEX}=α{TEX}$N_{f}^ {β}${/TEX}.
