In "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", the name of blood vessels is closely related to images of the river, and the word for blood vessel contains the following meaning, such as blood vessel, blood wind as well as blood stasis and so on. In a physiological perspective, the unobstructed blood vessel and normal operation blood are important symbols of health, for blood is the basis for human survival, physical activity and mental activity. In pathology, the external cold, excessive seven emotions and a biased diet can cause many kinds of abnormalities of the blood vessels, which can in turn become causes for a variety of diseases. The theory of blood vessels in "Hwangjenaegyeong" can provide guidance for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in practice.

Objective : For the purpose of making use the wild edible plants of Ulleung island smoothly, this study was designed. Method : For the first time, I searched the wild edible plants of Ulleung island from various data. And I examined herbological books and research papers on the wild edible plants of Ulleung island. Result : The herbaceous plants in Ulleung island were 12 family and 22 species, Compositae and Liliaceae plants take the highest number of them. The woody plants in Ulleung island were 1 family(Araliaceae) and 2 species. The herbal medicines that originated from the wild edible greens of Ulleung island were 25 species. The herbal medicines that have the effects of clearing away heat(淸熱), eliminating toxin(解毒), subduing swelling(消腫) and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis(活血祛瘀) take the highest number of the effects of these herbal medicines. Conclusion : For the purpose of making use the wild edible plants of Ulleung island smoothly, we should recognize not only medical benefits but also matters that pay special attention.

Carcinous pain is severe and continuous so difficult to alleviate. Western drugs give rise to reaction such as anorexia, constipation, vomiting, general weakness and dyspnea, And they cause tolerence. External treatment is a way to put a patch or rub a liquid on the skin. The patch and liquid are made from herb medicine. In china, they have a good effect of alleviating carcinous pain to make use of external treatment. Usually they use the medicine with effect of reprecussion (消腫), removing obstruction(散結), activating blood flow and removing blood stasis (活血化瘀) such like Borneloum(?片). Bufonis Venenum (蟾?), Aconiti ciliane Tubber(草烏), Arisaematis Rhizoma(南星), Asari herba cum Radice (細辛) etc. We can get the alleviating effect more quickly and prevent reaction through external treatment.

We report the case of an 18-year-old woman with a 6-year history of widespread facial plane warts that had proved resistant to repeated treatments with laser therapy and imiquimod cream. The patient had recurrent lesions, which subsequently resolved with treatment. We diagnosed the case as heat and blood stasis and qi deficiency damp stagnation. Treatment with herb medication and herbal external wet dressing was initiated. During the 4-month treatment period, the warts resolved gradually. At 4 months follow up, there were no recurrent lesions and no other adverse effects.

The literatual study on the Bogi haehun-tang(補氣解暈湯), the results were obtained as follows : 1. Bogihaehun-tang(補氣解暈湯) is reported Fuqingzhu's Gynecology, Qing dynasty at the first and is used when puerperal faintness, a disorder due to deficiency of vital energy and blood and up ward attack of the asthenic yang, or due to lochistisis and blood stasis attacking the heart. 2. Bogihaehun-tang(補氣解暈湯) is composed of Radix Ginseng(人蔘), Radix Astragali, Radix Angelicae sinensis(當歸) Rhizoma Zingiberis praeparatae(乾臺), Spica Schizonepetae(荊芥). 3. Bogihaehun-tang(補氣解暈湯) have an effect on homeostasis by in vigorating the vital energy, a treatment for prolonged bleeding due to deficiency of vital energy(補氣攝血) applicable to the patient suffening from chronic hemorrhagic disease accompanied with the anifestations of the deficiency of vital energy.

In oriental medicine, Semen Persicae & Flos Carthami are frequently used materials for promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun(方藥合編) is widely used for clinical herbal prescription book. In Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun(方藥合編), Semen Persicae is used 2g~6g. and Flos Carthami is used 1.2g~4g. the nuber of prescription Semen Persicae & Flos Carthami in Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun is total 17. 2 in sang-tong(上統), 5 in jung-tong(中統), 10 in ha-tong(下統). The group of mostly used disease is about gynecology(婦人科) & five sense organs(五官科). The mostly quoted medical literature what prescription included Semen Persicae & Flos Carthami in Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun is Dong-Yi-Bo-Gam.

Ocular injury is one of the commonest causes of eye diseases, but its patterns and incidences are variable according to the environment. Blunt Ocular Trauma is one of causes of ocular injury. Visual disturbance by Blunt Ocular Trauma is rarely reported and we do not know the exact convalescence and healing method of that. We treated a patient suffered from visual disturbance by blunt ocular trauma with herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping treatment. We diagnosed as Blood stasis and noxious water disease. We report a case of visual disturbance by blunt ocular trauma after treatments, we observed the improvement. Based on this study, it is considered that oriental medical treatment can be applied to the management of visual disturbance.

Ten sheeps from one farm had sudden onset of anorexia, jaundice and hemoglobinuria and died within 3 days after showing clinical signs during 3 months period. Postmortom examination was performed on one case and copper concentrations in the livers kidney and serum of the necmpsied minim were analysed. Grossly, the conjunctive, subcutaneous tissue and abdominal fat were generally icteric. The liver was enlarged with yellowish orange in color. The kidney was enlarged with dark red in color and the urinary bladder was filled with dark red urine. Histopathologically, centrilobular hepatocellular necrosis, neutrophilic infiltrations bile stasis and aggregation of fine granules-laden macrophages in the portal area were noted in the liver. Most of the Bowman's spaces and renal tubules were filled with homogenous eosinophilic fluid. Extramedullary hematopoiesis was noted in the submandibular lymph node. Copper concentrations in serum, liver and kidney of the necropsied animal were 25.0, 2732.8 and 471.3 ppm respectively. Based on the gross and histopathological findings and the high copper concentrations in the organs, this case was diagnosed as chronic copper toxicosis. Possible etiology on this outbreak is also discussed.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are continuously produced at a high rate as a by-product obtained in the aerobic metabolism. A major portion of living organisms has defense system as superoxide dismutase or catalase against damage produced by ROS. Several lines of evidence provided that ROS appears to cause to develop aging and various diseases. Spatholobus suberectus Dunn has been known as a Korean folk medicine for promoting blood circulation and relieving blood stasis as anemia. In this study, we have investigated the antioxidant activities of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn in order to find the antioxidant substances from natural products. For various antioxidant experiment, the major antioxidant component was isolated from EtOAc extract of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn. This compound was identified as (-)-epicatechin by chemical and physical analysis.
