Purpose - The present study aims to examine the relationship between small enterprise start-up preparatory factors and increases in sales and operating profits, which are business performances utilizing the National Survey of Actual Conditions of Small Enterprises conducted by the Small Enterprise, Market Service. Research design, data, and methodology - Start-up preparatory factors were divided into six types; business type, start-up history, start-up motives, preparatory periods, and start-up funds to figure out the relationship between sales and operating profits with regression analyses. Regression analyses were conducted based on the foregoing with a view to identifying the effects of start-up preparatory factors on business performance. Results - Since start-up preparatory factors generally affect business performance, it was identified that start-up preparatory factors importantly affect operating profits and sales, which are business performances. However, start-up preparatory periods and the implementation of education among preparatory activities were shown to have no effect on business performances, and the effect of the ratio of start-up fund provided by the founder on operating profits was shown to be not significant. Conclusions - The present study comprehensively examined those start-up preparatory factors that have positive effects on business performances after start-up. The present study is meaningful in that it can provide positive implications for efficient start-up of small enterprises hereafter.

This study investigated students' perception of a starting up business in the fashion design related departments of two year colleges to present the basic data for designing a start up business education and examined the opening status of the start up business subjects. Only 4.4% of respondents answered that they had an experience in a start up. And 76.2% of respondents answered that they would like to start up a business after graduation. The initial start up types were "online shopping mall" and "blog market" in that order. Nearly 86.7% of respondents answered that they needed "start up" education in college. To the question of whether they would participate if there is a start up extracurricular program, and the subject they would choose, 40.9% answered "I want to get a start up related certification", showing the highest rate of interest in the course. The status of introducing start up business subjects in the regular courses in fashion design related departments in 25 two year colleges related that there were 11 start up related courses begun in the last semester, that is, the 2nd semester of the 2nd year. Since the proportion of clothing in online shopping malls is high, start up education based on the demands of students in fashion design majors can be used as another employment exit strategy.
The purpose of this paper is to propose alternatives to help for the aged to implement start business as a method to recreate the aged population for their second life. There are three considerations that supports start business for the elderly. The first is to reinforce educational support system for the aged. Through the lifelong education, the aged require easy start business' information. This is not only goverment's job, a local autonomous entity is to support in the form of organic organization. The second is the maintenance of financial support system. Besides start business education, various financial support system must serve for the aged to challenge their start business enthusiastically. The last consideration is formation of start business network that joins the aged efficiently. Based on these aspects, the application for increasing elderly human resource is to consider both employment program of the aged and also start business program for them.
Successful start-ups are driven by opportunities, teams, and the resources needed to grow the business. Systematic business process management is required to maximize the efficiency of business operations. However, the existing entrepreneurial process research has limitations that it is difficult to intuitively and dynamically provide the necessary information for start-up operation, and it is necessary to define necessary information (resources, stakeholders, activities). In this study, we suggest the "Start-up Process Repository System" which overcomes limitations of existing entrepreneurial process research. The architecture for the Start-up Process Repository System provides five layers and enables each layer to interact four interfaces between each layer. This study improves start-ups' accessibility to the start-up business process repository created from the existing repository architecture and increases the utility derived from it by providing methodologies for components that offer useful start-up knowledge.

This aims to study impact of the youth start-up business incubating system by government's or local autonomous governments' center on start-up business performance. This focus on Youth Start-Up Business Support Program operated by Seoul Metropolitan City and explore practical alternatives. In this study, young entrepreneurs are defined as those who are aged between 20 and 40, and start-up is defined as an act by such entrepreneur that establishes an organization or system that produces any goods or services selected as business idea by utilizing capital in order to create profits. The empirical results are as follow; a significant correlation between scale of capital in initial stage by young entrepreneur graduating from Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. There is a significant correlation between the number of obtained intellectual properties before moving into Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. There is a significant correlation between the degree of satisfaction on start-up activity support fund for young entrepreneur in Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. There is a significant correlation between the degree of satisfaction on promotion and territorial cultivation support activities for young entrepreneur in Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. There is a significant correlation between the degree of satisfaction on collaboration support among member firms for young entrepreneur in Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. There is a significant correlation between the degree of overall satisfaction on start-up business support program for young entrepreneur in Start-Up Business Support Center and start-up success satisfaction by young entrepreneurs. The study has an implication that it provides a basic data on policy support strategies by central and local autonomous governments that facilitate young entrepreneurs to achieve start-up business goals by understanding the factors that affect the business performance of young entrepreneurs. In addition, the study offers an effective direction for young entrepreneurs in a way that promotes the start-up performance by young entrepreneurs, which expects to contribute to core factors of new employment opportunity creation as well as national and local economies, so that the author expects the study to play a role of raising the necessity of start-up business support for young entrepreneurs.
The purpose of this study is to study the influence of the entrepreneurship of the senior generation on the will to start a business at a time when the senior generation cannot lead to technology start-ups or reemployment even after retirement. In addition, in this study, we look at the relationship between entrepreneurship and will to start a business and use social and intellectual capital to verify the impact of entrepreneurship on the will to start a business. This study shows that entrepreneurship is concerned with the relationship between social and intellectual capital and not with the relationship between entrepreneurship and will to start a business. In addition, the relationship between social capital to the will to start a business was significant and the intellectual capital was not significant in the will to start a business. Even if entrepreneurship is embedded, it means that experience and network of social and intellectual capital are essential to the will to start a business, rather than to start one right away.
Purpose - As the members of the baby boomer generation have retired in earnest, the start-up market has received more attention than ever before. According to recent statistical data, an increasing number of entrepreneurs are in their fifties. There has been a continuous increase in promotional materials on small business issues published by start-ups. This means that senior start-ups have increased in number. A number of support systems have been established for youth start-ups, but there are few government support policies in place for the senior start-up market. Thus, this study suggests a number of constructive alternatives from the perspective of government policy and marketing strategy for entrepreneurs, in order to generate competitiveness in the start-up process, through examining the current state of the senior start-up and by diagnosing extant problems. Research design, data, methodology - This study gives a number of options regarding the government's support policies and the securing of competitiveness in order to vitalize senior business start-ups. As for the government's support policies, funding support policy, publicizing business start-up policies, and operating systematic mentoring policies before retirement have all been covered. In particular, in order for senior business start-ups to become competitive, development through mutual relations with diverse policies is urgently needed. The aging population is becoming an issue in Korea, so businesses for the aged, and the creation of jobs for these people, will become a social issue. Senior business start-ups are playing an important role in expanding enterprise productivity, in addition to enhancing national competitiveness. Expanding senior business start-ups is important, because they also serve to expand the national infrastructure. Productivity increase through continuous expansion is thus recommended. Results - In order to expand the competitiveness of business start-ups, marketing-related observations and learning in regard to customers are necessary for the baby boomer generation, and competitiveness for seniors is urgently needed. Conclusions - Studies on the business start-up policies for the domestic baby boomer generation are almost non-existent, and systematic studies on small businesses are necessary. Only the government is providing statistical studies for small businesses, and such research remains at a general level for entrepreneurs. Therefore, a support system that can actually assist entrepreneurs is essential. Continuous business start-up studies with respect to the baby boomers should be vitalized, to invigorate studies on competition. In order to supplement and strengthen foundational support, senior business start-ups must develop various competitive capabilities with a focus on the customer. The government and the various stakeholder agencies and organizations involved with start-up businesses must find ways to offer support to founders. Such support should include access to knowledge and legal and consultancy services in order to incubate the rapid increase in start-ups founded by seniors. Government support projects should be expanded to meet this end.

Micro small business start-ups are receiving financial and marketing support from government or public authority, but business closure rate is very high and it causes a hugh burden to households and national economy. This study aims to verify the causal relationship between the self-determination characteristic of small business start-ups and entrepreneurial intention through learning orientation and innovation ability. The man's intrinsic motivation of self-determination theory is expected to have an impact on the entrepreneurial intention of small business start-ups. The self-determination theory includes perceived autonomy, perceived competence, perceived relationship as independent variables. This study presented a research model for explaining the entrepreneurial intention of small business start-ups, and collected 260 survey responses from the small business start-ups In order to validate the proposed research model, PLS analysis is performed with valid 246 questionnaires. By PLS technique, the measurement reliability and validity of research variables are tested and the path analysis is conducted to do the hypothesis test. Path analysis shows that perceived autonomy does not significantly affect the learning orientation and innovation ability. On the other hand, perceived competence significantly influences learning orientation and innovation ability. Perceived relationships had significant influence on learning orientation. It is found that the parameters of learning orientation and innovation ability significantly influence the dependent variable of entrepreneurial intention. Based on the results, a policy and strategy for supporting small business start-up are presented.
Recently, many people are interesting for Start-up and government also try to support their business because it can contribute economic growth. However, in Korea, despite there are many education and supporting programs for them, many Start-ups are failed to retain their business because they actually do not know what they do. Although prior studies for Start-up have pointed that education for them is very important for success, education programs for them only focus on theories rather than practices. Moreover, Start-ups need tools for supporting to business plans or information for their business. Therefore, in this study, we propose IT service functions for Start-up information system supporting Start-up competency. For this purpose, we conduct Delphi and Importance-Performance Analysis with experts on start-up. In experiments, we divided stage of business into three stages; business planning, implementation, growth and diversification. And we draw important tasks from experts in each stage. As a result, we find some tasks to concentrate for Start-up information systems. And we also find tasks which are not important for company founders. Through these results, we expect that the development of functions for supporting those important tasks will help increase the efficiency of Start-up companies and the survival rate of them.

This study drew a conclusion about the current situation and the trend of start-up in Korea by understanding the convenience of start-up and startup outcome(business satisfaction and income after startup) by year, and by analyzing the trend of the convenience of start-up by each detail items and by industry. In addition to, the key factors of successful business start-up are demonstrated by synthetically examining how the factors influence the outcome of startup, including human capital, business characteristics, economic feature, and situational/institutional characteristics, as well as demographic characteristics. According to the result, business satisfaction after startup by year and business income have gradually increased from 2005, but the convenience of start-up has constantly decreased. Based on the industry, the convenience of start-up shows a statistical significance. Lastly, the factors that influence the outcome of business start-up are complexly turned up as human capital, business characteristics, economic feature, and situational/institutional characteristics, as well as demographic characteristics.
