Bayesian estimation of multinomial and Poisson parameters under starshped restriction is considered. Most Bayesian estimations in order restricted statistical inference require the high-dimensional integration which is very difficult to evaluate. Monte Carlo integration and Gibbs sampling are among alternative methods. The Bayesian estimation considered in this paper requires only evaluation of incomplete beta functions which are extensively tabulated.

Using the notions of admissibility, local convexity and measure of noncompactness, we give new fixed point theorems for quasicompact or condensing multivalued mappings with domains that are not necessarily convex subsets of an arbitrary topological vector space.

In this paper we prove a condition under which a hyperbolic starshaped set has a center of hyperbolic symmetry. We also give the definition of isometric diameters for a hyperbolic convex set, which behave similar to affine diameters for Euclidean convex sets. Using this concept, we give a definition of constant hyperbolic width and we prove that the only hyperbolic sets with constant hyperbolic width and with a hyperbolic center of symmetry are hyperbolic discs.

Inspired by a classical approximation result of Bagemihl and Seidel on the disc, we provide generalized results on some proper domains in ℂⁿ about approximation of a continuous function by a holomorphic function in the Mergelyan's style.
