Mapping is a fundamental element for robotic services. There are available many types of map data representation such as grid map, metric map, topology map, etc. As more robots are deployed for services, more chances of exchanging map data among the robots emerge and standardization of map data representation (MDR) becomes more valuable. Currently, activities in developing MDR standard are underway in IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. The MDR standard is for a common representation and encoding of the two-dimensional map data used for navigation by mobile robots. The standard focuses on interchange of map data among components and systems, particularly those that may be supplied by different vendors. This paper aims to introduce MDR standard and its application to map merging. We have applied the basic structure of the MDR standard to a grid map and Voronoi graph as a kind of topology map and performed map merging between two different maps. Simulation results show that the proposed MDR is suitable for map data exchange among robots.

Noise maps of a city in Korea have been made using commercial noise map softwares by measuring the basic data in the city. The result in this study will be used to evaluate the environmental impact of noise from various noise sources and to implement the Korean noise map standard.

임상도는 산림자원이 어디에 어떻게 얼마나 분포하고 있는가를 보여주는 대표적인 산림지도로 전국 산림에 대해 임상, 영급, 경급, 소밀도 등 다양한 산림정보를 제공하여 산림정책 수립의 주요한 자료로 활용될 뿐만 아니라 토지적성평가, 생태자연도 제작 등 다양한 분야의 기초 자료로 활용되고 있다. 최초의 수치임상도는 1차 NGIS 사업을 통해 제작되었는데 당시 수치임상도제작 표준의 부재로 도엽 간 경계 및 속성 불일치 등 여러 가지 유형의 오류가 발생하였다. 또한 임상도의 제작시기, 항공사진 촬영시기, 속성 설명 등 임상도에 관한 보다 자세한 정보를 알기 어려웠다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 수치임상도 DB 설계부터 수치화, 메타데이터 입력, 품질관리 등의 수치임상도 전 제작과정을 3단계 33개 단위 공정으로 구조화하고 이를 최적화하여 표준화한 수치임상도 표준제작체계를 개발하였다. 본 수치임상도 표준제작체계를 토대로 전국 수치임상도를 일관된 품질로 제작하고 수치임상도에 대한 보다 상세한 정보를 표준메타데이터를 통해 제공할 수 있게 되었다.

Using GIS data of C-si as basic data when making noise map of road traffic, we estimated exactly the noise excess areas and consequently suggested the population and the area exposed to road traffic noise accurately. We made 3D noise map to assess regional distribution of noise quantitatively. The noise map consists of noise prediction model based on data base such as traffic volume and speed changes for estimating quantitatively the noise and 3D urban space model which includes locations of noise sources, 3D buildings, topography and roads. We made noise standard map according to land use conditions and compared this map to road traffic noise map, and consequently made excess noise map. Using excess noise map, we assessed areas which exceed environmental noise level standards and noise guidelines quantitatively and effectively through GIS spatial analysis, and consequently more accurate noise exposed area and noise exposed population could be estimated. To show buildings' outer walls noise exposure, we analyzed 3D urban noise distributions using 3D-analysis of GIS.

국내의 수치지도는 도엽단위의 2차원으로 제공되어 사용자가 의사결정에 직접 이용하는데 제약이 따르게 된다. 본 연구에서는 미국, 영국, 캐나다 등 선진국에 대한 수치지도의 현황과 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 미국의 National Map과 영국의 Master Map은 데이터에 연속성과 최신성을 유지하고 있으며, 유일식별자를 포함하고, ISO, OGC 등의 국제표준을 참고하여 수치지도가 제작되고 있었다.

3GPP 표준의 오류 정정 부호 기법 중의 하나로 채택된 turbo 부호는 그 성능이 Shannon이 제시하는 이론적 한계 값에 근사하기 때문에 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 그러나 계산상의 복잡함과 많은 메모리를 요구한다는 단점이 있고 이를 보완할 수 있는 Log-MAP, Max-Log-MAP, SOVA, sliding window 알고리즘 등이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 turbo복호 알고리즘을 부동 소수점 연산과 고정 소수점 연산을 이용하여 구현하였을 때 성능을 해석하였다. 그리고 Log-MAP 알고리즘의 성능에 근사하는 효율적인 고정 소수점 구현 방법을 제안하였다. 이 방법을 Log-MAP과 sliding window 알고리즘에 적용하여 성능을 분석하였다.

이 글에서는 MAP 변천과정과 구조 및 특성 그리고 현황 및 전망에 대하여 기술하였다. MAP 기술은 고도의 첨단 기술을 요구하는 분야가 아니고 또한 선진국에서도 시작 단계에 있는 분야 이므로 국내에서도 많은 사람들이 관심을 가지고 이 분야를 육성한다면 선진국과 대등한 관계를 가지고 경쟁을 벌일 수 있을 것이다. 이 글을 통하여 많은 사람들이 MAP 시스템을 이해하는데 조금이라도 도움이 되었기를 희망하며, 앞으로도 많은 사람들이 MAP에 관심을 기울여 주기를 바라는 바이다.

In this paper, we consider some homogeneous maps from a cone over 2-spheres and determines whether they become energy minimizing maps or not. In fact, any homogeneous map from a standard cone over 2-sphere of radius smaller than 1 can not be a minimizing harmonic map.

각 이동 통신 업체들의 독립적 모바일 플랫폼 구축에 따른 비용 낭비를 방지하기 위해 한국무선 인터넷표준화포럼(KWISF)에서 WIPI 플랫폼을 제안하였다. 기존의 각 이동 통신사의 플랫폼에 맞춰진 모바일 맵 서비스가 실시되고 있으나 향후 WIPI('Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability) 플랫폼으로 통합이 이루어지면 플랫폼과 컴퍼넌트 API 변화에 따른 모바일 맵 서비스 환경 변화가 불가피할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 WIPI 환경에 적합한 모바일 맵 서비스 기법을 설계하고 구현 결과를 제시한다.
