Block-Time of Arrival/Leaving Estimation to Enhance Local Spectrum Sensing under the Practical Traffic of Primary User

  • With a long sensing period, the inter-frame spectrum sensing in IEEE 802.22 standard is vulnerable to the effect of the traffic of the primary user (PU). In this article, we address the two degrading factors that affect the inter-frame sensing performance with respect to the random arrival/leaving of the PU traffic. They are the noise-only samples under the random arrival traffic, and the PU-signal-contained samples under the random leaving traffic. We propose the model in which the intra-frame sensing cooperates with the inter-frame one, and the inter-frame sensing uses the time-of-arrival (ToA), and time-of-leave (ToL) detectors to reduce the two degrading factors in the inter-frame sensing time. These ToA and ToL detectors are used to search for the sample which contains either the ToA or ToL of the PU traffic, respectively, which allows the partial cancelation of the unnecessary samples. At the final stage, the remaining samples are input into a primary user detector, which is based on the energy detection scheme, to determine the status of PU traffic in the inter-frame sensing time. The analysis and the simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the spectrum-sensing performance compared to the conventional counter-part.

정지장면의 연속 프레임 영상 간 통계에 기반한 영상분할 (Image Segmentation based on Statistics of Sequential Frame Imagery of a Static Scene)

  • 본 연구는 정지장면의 연속영상간 각 픽셀위치에서 일어나는 통계적 특성을 활용하여 영상을 분할하는 기법을 제안한다. 공간정보의 획득과 분석에서 디지털 영상 처리 기법의 활용은 아주 중요한 의미를 가진다. 특히 디지털 영상의 영역 구분을 위해 다양한 영상 분할(image segmentation) 기법들이 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선행 연구한 연속프레임 영상의 분광학적 특성 분석의 결과를 바탕으로 연속 프레임 간 Randomness를 활용한 이미지 분할 방법을 제안하였다. 우선 연속 프레임 간 각 화소에 통계학적인 분석 방법을 적용하여 각 화소의 평균과 표준편차 값을 구하고, 이를 통하여 대상 영상에서 가장 신뢰할 만한 화소들을 찾아 씨앗 점(seed point)을 결정하였다. 그리고 이 씨앗 점들을 시작으로 이웃 화소 간 T-test를 실시하였으며, 이를 기반으로 영역 성장(region growing)의 개념을 적용하여 영상을 분할 할 수 있는 기법을 연구하였다. 제안방식의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 실험을 통하여 기존의 방식과 비교분석을 수행하였다. 이러한 실험의 결과 영상분할에서 영상의 단일 프레임을 활용한 것보다 연속 프레임을 활용한 경우가 유리함을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Influence of joint modelling on the pushover analysis of a RC frame

  • In general, conventional analysis and design of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures overlook the role of beam-column (RCBC) joints. Nowadays, the rigid joint model is one of the most common for RCBC joints: the joint is assumed to be rigid (unable to deform) and stronger than the adjacent beams and columns (does not fail before them). This model is popular because (i) the application of the capacity design principles excludes the possibility of the joint failing before the adjacent beams and (ii) many believe that the actual behaviour of RCBC joints designed according to the seismic codes produced mainly after the 1980s can be assumed to be nominally rigid. This study investigates the relevance of the deformation of RCBC joints in a standard pushover analysis at several levels: frame, storey, element and cross-section. Accordingly, a RC frame designed according to preliminary versions of EN 1992-1-1 and EN 1998-1 was analysed, considering the nonlinear behaviour of beams and columns by means of a standard sectional fibre model. Two alternative models were used for the RCBC joints: the rigid model and an explicit component based nonlinear model. The effect of RCBC joints modelling was found to be twofold: (i) the flexibility of the joints substantially increases the frame lateral deformation for a given load (30 to 50%), and (ii) in terms of seismic performance, it was found that joint flexibility (ii-1) appears to have a minor effect on the force and displacement corresponding to the performance point (seismic demand assessed at frame level), but (ii-2) has a major influence on the seismic demand when assessed at storey, element and cross-section levels.

  • Bogie frame is typical safety part of railway vehicle. Total serviceable life of bogie frame will be evaluated by Cumulative Damage Approach Method that is defined by dynamic strain measurement during revenue service under the actual track conditions. As a result of the standardization process developed in British Standard Institution, BS 7608 defines for fatigue design and test method of steel structure by fatigue test results over the long period. This paper evaluates the total serviceable life applying BS 7608 for the bogie frame of Electric Multiple Unit to verify structural safety of the bogie frame.

  • The fatigue strength analysis is performed for the bogie frame of Korean tilting train which is newly developed. The loading conditions imposed on the bogie frame during carbody tilting are derived in addition to the loadings based on the JIS E4207 standard. The tilting bogie frame is modeled for the finite element analysis and fatigue analysis is carried out under Goodman equation. It is concluded the bogie frame of the developed tilting train has enough structural safety.

  • This paper investigated strength of a bogie frame for Korean tilting train that is being developed in KRRI. In this study, static load tests based on Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) were performed. In order to simulate vertical and lateral components generated by tilting link mechanism, four hydraulic actuators were used. The eight load cases such as vertical, lateral, traction, braking and driving gear loads were applied for evaluation of the strength of bogie frame. The stresses measured at the stress concentration points were assessed using Goodman diagram. From the experimental results, structural safety of the bogie frame could be ensured.

  • In the new video coding standard H.264/AVC, motion estimation (ME) is allowed to search multiple reference frames for improve the rate-distortion performance. The complexity of multi-frame motion estimation increases linearly with the number of used reference frame. However, the distortion gain given by each reference frame varies with the video sequence, and it is not efficient to search through all the candidate frames. In this paper, we propose a fast mult-frame selection method using all zero coefficient block (AZCB) prediction and sum of difference (SAD) of neighbor block. Simulation results show that the speed of the proposed algorithm is up to two times faster than exhaustive search of multiple reference frames with similar quality and bit-rate.

  • Green Frame is a column-beam system constructed by composite precast column and beam connected by embedded steel of their. From when the precast concrete beam of Green Frame is installed, until the concrete of slab and connection joint is cured, the self load of beam shall be supported by the embedded steel of it. Therefore, the concrete of beam could be separated from the embedded steel if the shear connector of beam of Green Frame is designed by the code on Structural standard. So, this study suggest an equation for the shear connection of composite precast concrete beams of Green Frame. The result of this study will be used as the main equation of the calculation model for shear connectors of composite precast concrete beams.

Performance Anomaly of the IEEE 802.11 DCF in Different Frame Error Rate Conditions

  • We propose an analytic model to compute the station's saturated throughput and packet delay performance of the IEEE 802.11 DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) in which frame transmission error rates in the channel are different from each other. Our analytic model shows that a station experiencing worse frame error rates than the others suffers severe performance degradation below its deserved throughput and delay performance. 802.11 DCF adopts an exponential back-off scheme. When some stations suffer from high frame error rates, their back-off stages should be increased so that others get the benefit from the smaller collision probabilities. This impact is then recursively applied to degrade the performance of the victim stations. In particular, we show that the performance is considerably degraded even if the frame error rate of the victim station satisfies the receiver input level sensitivity that has been specified in the IEEE 802.11 standard. We also verify the analytic results by the OPNET simulations.

일반벽체와 교호 샛기둥 벽체의 역학적 성능 비교 연구 (A Study on The Comparison of Mechanical Property Between The Staggered Stud Wood Wall and The Standard Wood Frame Wall)

  • 목조건축의 기반을 넓히고 소비자의 만족도를 향상시키기 위해 기존의 일반목조벽체 및 기타 경량목조벽체에 대한 비교 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 일반벽체와 개선된 방식인 교호 샛기둥 벽체와의 성능 비교를 통해 새로운 가능성을 찾고자 하였다. 우선 교호 샛기둥 벽체의 강도적 특성을 평가하고 일반벽체의 강도적 특성을 비교하였다. 일반벽체를 구성하는 목재의 단면이 교호 샛기둥 벽체보다 크기 때문에 일반벽체의 최대하중이 교호 샛기둥 벽체 보다 크게 나타났다. 하지만, 두 그룹간의 통계분석에 의하면 95% 신뢰 수준에서 유의성을 보이지 않아, 교호 샛기둥 벽체는 일반벽체를 대체할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다. 교호 샛기둥 벽채는 샛기둥의 단면이 일반벽체보다 작기 때문에 재료를 절약할 수 있어서 일반벽체보다 더 경제적이라고 판단된다. 또한 단열재의 면적 또한 증가하므로 열교 현상의 개선도 기대된다.
