대기압이 가스유량측정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of the Atmospheric Pressure in the Gas Flow Measurement)

  • Orifice meter is the most widely used flowmeter in custody transfer between KOGAS and city gas companies. Absolute pressure value is needed to calculate the gas flow of orifice metering system, but the gauge pressure transmitters are mainly used in the field. In case that the gauge pressure transmitters are used, the fixed value as standard atmospheric pressure(101.325kPa) is applied for the absolute pressure value. The real, local atmospheric pressures of each metering station are different from the standard condition as the altitude and weather conditions. In this study the flow calculation errors were quantitatively analyzed through examining the atmospheric pressures of 50 stations of KOGAS. The data for analysis are such like the time data of supplied gas amount, the altitude of each metering station, the time data of atmospheric pressures and altitudes of each weather observatory. The results showed that the local atmospheric pressures were different from the standard value and the gas flow calculation errors were distributed between $-0.024\%{\~}0.025\%$ based on the supplied gas amount in the year 1999 and 2000.

An Evaluation of Liquid Chromatography/Mass Specrometry with Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionizarion for the Rapid and Simultaneous Measurement of Carbamate Pesticides and Organophosphorus Pesticides

  • Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization interface (LC/APCI/MS) is evaluated for the simultaneous determination of carbamate pesticides and organophosphorus pesticides in a single chromatographic analysis. APCI mass spectra of those compounds were obtrained to study their ionization characteristics. APCI provided abundant ions such as protonated molecules and characteristic fragment ions for carbamate pesticides and organophosphorus pesticides. To evaluate the feasibility of the LC/APCI/MS for a routine quantitative analysis, the linearity and repeatability of LC/APCI/MS were examined by measuring standard solution mixtures of five carbamate pesticides and four organophosphorus pesticides over the range of 1 to 100 ㎍/mL. Teh peak areas in chromatograms of characteristic ions for those compounds showed less than 3% of variation from run to run. The standard calibration curves for the nine pesticides show good linearity in the concentration range. The detection limits of the LC/APCI/MS system for those compounds range from 0.006 to 0.2 ng.

서울지역 미세먼지 고농도에 따른 천식사망자 사례일의 종관기상학적 분류 (Synoptic Meteorological Classification of the Days on Which Asthma Deaths Occurred Due to High PM10 Concentrations in Seoul)

  • Asthma deaths in Seoul peaked on the third, fifth, and second days after the PM concentration exceeded the daily average concentration standard. We classified the synoptic meteorological conditions, based on the days involving such cases, into three categories. Type 1 included the meteorological condition likely to cause high air pollution concentrations in the leeward region, the dominant wind direction of which is the northwest. Type 2 included the meteorological condition likely to cause high air pollution concentrations due to the weak wind velocity under stable atmospheric conditions. Type 3 was when the passage low atmospheric pressure and the expansion of high atmospheric pressure occurred at the rear, indicating a meteorological condition likely to cause high air pollution, in certain regions. Type 1 occurred 11 times, with high concentrations of over $100{\mu}g/m^3$ being observed in the southeastern part of Seoul. Type 2 occurred 24 times, often accompanied by a PM concentration of $100{\sim}400{\mu}g/m^3$. Type 3 occurred 11 times, and was accompanied by several days of yellow dust that accounted for the highest concentrations.

Measurement of Hydroxyl Radical Density at Bio-Solutions Generated from the Atmospheric Pressure Non-Thermal Plasma Jet

  • Atmospheric pressure non-thermal plasma of the needle-typed interaction with aqueous solutions has received increasing attention for their biomedical applications [1]. In this context, surface discharges at bio-solutions were investigated experimentally. We have generated the non-thermal plasma jet bombarding the bio-solution surface by using an Ar gas flow and investigated the emission lines by OES (optical emission spectroscopy) [2]. Moreover, The non-thermal plasma interaction with bio-solutions has received increasing attention for their biomedical applications. So we researched, the OH radical density of various biological solutions in the surface by non-thermal plasma were investigated by Ar gases. The OH radical density of DI water; deionized water, DMEM Dulbecco's modified eagle medium, and PBS; 1x phosphate buffered saline by non-thermal plasma jet. It is noted that the OH radical density of DI water and DMEM are measured to be about $4.33{\times}1016cm-3$ and $2.18{\times}1016cm-3$, respectively, under Ar gas flow 250 sccm (standard cubic centimeter per minute) in this experiment. The OH radical density of buffer solution such as PBS has also been investigated and measured to be value of about $2.18{\times}1016cm-3$ by the ultraviolet optical absorption spectroscopy.

Flow Characteristics of An Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Torch

  • The atmospheric pressure plasma is regarded as an effective method for surface treatments because it can reduce the period of process and doesn't need expensive vacuum apparatus. The performance of non-transferred plasma torches is significantly depended on jet flow characteristics out of the nozzle. In order to produce the high performance of a torch, the maximum discharge velocity near an annular gap in the torch should be maintained. Also, the compulsory swirl is being produced to gain the shape that can concentrate the plasma at the center of gas flow. In this work, the distribution of gas flow that goes out to atmosphere through a plenum chamber and nozzle is analyzed to evaluate the performance of atmospheric pressure plasma torch which can present the optimum design of the torch. Numerical analysis is carried out with various angles of an inlet flow velocity. Especially, three-dimensional model of the torch is investigated to estimate swirl effect. We also investigate the stabilization of plasma distribution. For analyzing the swirl in the plenum chamber and the flow distribution, FVM (finite volume method) and SIMPLE algorithm are used for solving the governing equations. The standard k-model is used for simulating the turbulence.

충북 청원군에서 관측된 지표면 부근의 오존 (Measutements of the ground-level ozone in a rural area of Chongwon, Korea)

  • Measurements of ground level ozone concentrations were made in a rural area of Chongwon (Choongbook Province) from June 1993 to July 1994. High values frequently exceeding 100 ppb (ambient air qualyty standard of Korea) were recorded. High ozone concentrations in the boundary layer were primarily correlated with the several meteorological parameters in warm seasons: pressure, radiation, temperature, precipitation and wind velocity. The annual average concentration of ozone at Chongwon was 17ppb, and this value was relatively higher than those for other cities in Korea. O$\_$3/ concentrations were observed to increase when the ridge of a surface anticyclone was passing over the region, and maximum values(.geq.100 ppb) were observed on the rear sides of high pressure centers and in the warm sectors of cyclones(well head of cold fronts). The ozone concentrations had a negative correlation with the concentration of primary pollutants(e.g., total hydrocarbons).

Influence of Diverse Atmospheric Conditions on Optical Properties of a Pulse Laser in a Time-of-Flight Laser Range Finder

  • We investigate the propagation characteristics of a pulse laser in a time-of-flight laser range finder (TOF-LRF) system with variations in atmospheric conditions, such as temperature, pressure, relative humidity, and the concentration of $CO_2$. The measurement error of distance related with the group velocity change in the TOF-LRF system is analyzed by considering the refractive index of the standard atmosphere with variations in atmospheric conditions. The dependence of the pulse width broadening induced by chromatic dispersion of the standard atmosphere on the operating wavelength and the initial pulse width of the light sources is discussed. The transmission of air with variations in the relative humidity or the concentration of $CO_2$ is analyzed by using different values of absorption coefficients depending on the operation wavelength of the light source in the TOF-LRF system.

DNPH cartridge/LC-MS 방법에 의한 카르보닐화합물 분석에 관한 연구 (Analysis of Carbonyl Compounds using DNPH Cartridge with LC-MS)

  • Several carbonyl compounds are important because of their irritant and toxic properties, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity. Therefore, they are regulated in korean odor emission standard. In this study, atmospheric pressure ionization-mass spectrometry(API-MS) is used for the analysis of carbonyl compounds after derivatization with 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) and liquid chromatographic separation. In the negative ion mode, the $[M-H]^-$ pseudomolecular ions are most abundant for the carbonyls. Analytical parameters such as linearity, repeatability and minimum detection limit were evaluated. The linearities ($r^2$) for carbonyls were $0.9977{\sim}0.9999$ when analyte concentration ranges from $25\;to\;250{\mu}g/L$(n=6). The relative standard deviations (%RSD) for carbonyls were $0.55{\sim}3.51%$ for concentration of $100{\mu}g/L$(n=5). The minimum detection limit (MDL) was $1.88{\mu}g/L$(0.27 ppb) for i-valeraldehyde. It was shown that LC-MS method has a great potential for carbonyl compounds analysis.

WISE 복합기상센서 관측 자료 품질관리시스템 (The WISE Quality Control System for Integrated Meteorological Sensor Data)

  • A real-time quality control system for meteorological data (air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation) measured by an integrated meteorological sensor has been developed based on comparison of quality control procedures for meteorological data that were developed by the World Meteorological Organization and the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), using time series and statistical analysis of a 12-year meteorological data set observed from 2000 to 2011 at the Incheon site in Korea. The quality control system includes missing value, physical limit, step, internal consistency, persistence, and climate range tests. Flags indicating good, doubtful, erroneous, not checked, or missing values were added to the raw data after the quality control procedure. The climate range test was applied to the monthly data for air temperature and pressure, and its threshold values were modified from ${\pm}2{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ to ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}6{\sigma}$, respectively, in order to consider extreme phenomena such as heat waves and typhoons. In addition, the threshold values of the step test for air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, and wind speed were modified to $0.7^{\circ}C$, 0.4 hPa, 5.9%, and $4.6m\;s^{-1}$, respectively, through standard deviation analysis of step difference according to their averaging period. The modified quality control system was applied to the meteorological data observed by the Weather Information Service Engine in March 2014 and exhibited improved performance compared to the KMA procedures.

학술논문 분석을 통한 기상민감질환 선정 및 기상인자와의 관련성고찰 (Weather-sensitive Diseases and Their Correlations with Meteorological Factors: Results from Academic Papers)

  • The effect of weather on disease was investigated based on results reported in academic papers. Weather-sensitive disease was selected by analyzing the frequency distributions of diseases and correlations between diseases and meteorological factors (e.g., temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind speed). Correlations between disease and meteorological factors were most frequently reported for myocardial infarction (MI) (28%) followed by chronic ischemic heart disease (CHR) (12%), stroke (STR) (10%), and angina pectoris (ANG) (5%). These four diseases had significant correlations with temperature (meaningful correlation for MI and negative correlations for CHR, STR, and ANG). Selecting MI, as a representative weather-sensitive disease, and summarizing the quantitative correlations with meteorological factors revealed that, daily hospital admissions for MI increased approximately 1.7%-2.2% with each $1^{\circ}C$ decrease in physiologically equivalent temperature. On the days when MI occurred in three or more patients larger daily temperature ranges ($2.3^{\circ}C$ increase) were reported compared with the days when MI occurred in fewer than three patients. In addition, variations in pressure (10 mbar, 1016 mbar standard) and relative humidity (10%) contributed to an 11%-12% increase in deaths from MI and an approximately 10% increase in the incidence of MI, respectively.
