PFA(Paper Fly Ash) are reclaimed mainly or used in cement industry field as mixture agent in terms of materials recycling. Recently, research for recycling PFA as embankment materials or soil stabilization agent are undergoing in geotechnical engineering field. In this study, physical characteristics of PFA stabilization agent-soil admixtures are examined in change of water content, void ratio, consistency, grain distribution, specific gravity and density. Futhermore, the physical characteristics are compared with unconfined strength as engineering characteristics. Test results showed that unconfined strength and density are increased with increasing of PFA stabilization agent mixed ratio. On the other hand, specific gravity, void ratio and water content are decreased with increasing of PFA stabilization agent mixed ratio. It would be concluded that natural high water content ratio weak soil could be highly improved engineering and physical characteristics with PFA stabilization agent
In this study, a stabilization method was applied to stabilize heavy metals in soils collected from a domestic contaminated area and a Canadian mine site. The stabilizing agent used in the experiment was a solidifying agent developed by KERT Co., Ltd., Korea. The agent was applied to the samples at varying weight ratios of 0, 2, 5, 7, and 10% (w/w). and the concentrations of heavy metals in the effluent were monitored at predetemined time intervals. The results indicated that the stabilization efficiency of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb) increased proportionally until the agent was increased to 5%, which showed almost no leaching of heavy metals after 28 days after agent application. Therefore, addition of 5% relative to soil mass was proposed to be the optimum dose for the stabilization agent.

Recently, as large constructions on the coast are performed frequently, surface layer stabilization method which Is one of the improvement methods for dredged soft clay has been applied. However, there have been few studies about the surface layer stabilization method. The purpose of this study is to clarify characteristics of ultra-soft marine clay and hardening agent. Also, optimal mixture ratio of hardening agent was verified through the laboratory tests such as statistical analysis and pilot tests. Laboratory tests were performed with proper hardening agent and test soil and standard mixing tables of hardening agent were determined according to ground conditions through statistical analysis. Also, applicability of surface layer stabilization method to field was verified by pilot tests. From the results of the tests, it was found that hardening agent materials such as cement, slag, fly-ash, inorganic salts, arwin, gypsum etc. affect on the appearing compressive strength. It was defined optimal mixture ratio which satisfies the required compressive strength from the statistical analysis. Also, It was compared the effect of ground improvement by cements and hardening agents through the pilot tests. This study will serve as data for design or construction criteria of stabilization of surface layer on ultra-soft marine clay.

There is the increasing number of constructing soil or structure on the soft ground during public works. Usually cement or slag cement has been the traditional material for surface soil stabilization method. Recently, early strength development properties of hardening agent is required for driving abilities of execution equipment and shortening of the construction time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the early compressive strength hardening agent for surface soil stabilization. The study was confirmed performance and availability of hardening agent using early strength type cement and industrial by-product minerals through early strength development properties in accordance with water cement ratio, content of hardening agent for soft soil.

Hardening agent has been the traditional material for surface soil stabilization of soft ground. This study aims at determining optimal mixture ratio of hardening agent in accordance with the required design specifications. Hardening agent is properly mixtured with Fly ash, Gypsum, Slag and Cement for the ettringite hydrates which is effective for early stabilization of unconsolidated soil. The treated soil is the clay which are widely found here and there in Korea. In this study, preliminary tests were performed to get optimal mixture ratio of stabilizer ingredient, and marine clay in Jin-Hae was used to get physical and chemical properties. Laboratory tests of 50 stabilized soil were peformed to get optimal mixture ratio for 16 stabilizer material of 6 type, and stabilizer mixing was determined.

Many researchers have studied for the barrier liner in the landfill that is mixed with clay mineral, native soils and solidified agent. However, they have a littel but problems for safety construction and maintenance as a bottom liner systems in the landfill. In this paper the authors studied the effects on hydraulic conductivity by electric-chemical ion-exchange agent that is a soil stabilization agent(Sulphonated Oil), The application of the soil stabilization agent to meet the hydraulic conductivity of clay liner in landfill is possible if the additive quantity and a proper reaction time is determined relevantly in the laboratory test.

However, there are few studies about this. The purpose of this study is clarifying characteristics of ultra-soft marine clay and hardening agent. Also, it is verifying an optimal mixture ratio of hardening agent through the laboratory tests according to designed experiments and proving by statistical analysis and pilot tests. Laboratory tests were performed with proper hardening agent and test soil in accordance with the design of experiments. Regression equations between hardening agents materials and unconfined compressive strength were derived from the tests. The applicability of regression equations were also verified by pilot tests. From the test results, it was found that hardening agent materials(cement, slag, fly-ash, inorganic salts, arwin, gypsum etc.) have some effect upon compressive strength. The optimal mixture ratio which satisfies the required compressive strength was derived from the statistical analysis. The effect of ground improvement by cements and hardening agents was confirmed through the pilot tests. This study will suggest data for design or construction criteria of stabilization of surface layer on ultra-soft marine clay.
