  • The physical properties of an atmospheric boundary layer in Wolryong, a west coastal region of Jeju, South Korea, in terms of the atmospheric stability and roughness length, is important and relevant to both engineers and scientists. The study is aiming to understand the atmospheric stability around this region and its effect on the roughness length.   • 본 논문에서는 네덜란드 부게넘 및 국내 태안 IGCC플랜트의 석탄으로부터 생성된 합성가스의 화염안정성 및 연소불안정성에 대해 기술하였다. GE7EA 모사 가스터빈 연소기를 대상으로 상압 고온 연소시험을 수행하여 입열량 및 질소희석에 따른 연소특성을 관찰하였다. 시험결과를 통해 화염안정화 선도는 화염의 구조에 따라 Regime I부터 VI까지 6개의 영역으로 구분하였고, 2개의 영역(Regime I, II)에서 화염이 안정적으로 연소되는 것을 확인하였다. 태안 및 부게넘 합성가스 모두 안정하게 연소되고, 화염이 외부 재순환 유동과 결합되는 Regime II에 해당하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 $H_2$/CO비만을 고려하면 수소의 함량이 높은 부게넘 가스가 안정적 연소구간이 넓지만, 질소희석을 고려할 때 부게넘 가스 내의 더 많은 질소가 화염안정성에 부정적 영향을 미치기 때문에 태안 합성가스가 부게넘 합성가스보다 더 안정적으로 연소하였다.

  • Our goal is to relax a sufficient condition for the exponential almost sure stability of a certain class of stochastic differential equations. Compared to the existing theory, we prove the almost sure stability, replacing Lipschitz continuity and linear growth conditions by the existence of a strong solution of the underlying stochastic differential equation. This result is extendable for the regime-switching system. An explicit example is provided for the illustration purpose.

The impact of sidetracking on the wellbore stability

  • In the past sidetracking was the means to bypass a damaged zone or to correct the direction of a wellbore. Nowadays, this method is very common and useful in relocating the bottom of a wellbore in a more productive zone and consequently enhancing the production of a reservoir by saving a significant amount of time and money. In this paper, the stability of the bend area is assessed considering varied conditions of stress regime and sidetrack orientation. In general, the stress regime and the orientation of the principal stresses have negligible effect on the stability of the sidetrack compared to sidetrack inclination. On the other hand, the sidetrack deviation angle from the vertical main well plays the major role in the stability of the bend area.

  • Nanofluids have recently triggered a substantial scientific interest as cooling media. However, their stability is challenging for successful engagement in industrial applications. Different factors, including temperature, nanoparticles and base fluids characteristics, pH, ultrasonic power and frequency, agitation time, and surfactant type and concentration, determine the nanofluid stability regime. Indeed, it is often too complicated and even impossible to accurately find the conditions resulting in a stabilized nanofluid. Furthermore, there are no empirical, semi-empirical, and even intelligent scenarios for anticipating the stability of nanofluids. Therefore, this study introduces a straightforward and reliable intelligent classifier for discriminating among the stability regimes of alumina-water nanofluids based on the Zeta potential margins. In this regard, various intelligent classifiers (i.e., deep learning and multilayer perceptron neural network, decision tree, GoogleNet, and multi-output least squares support vector regression) have been designed, and their classification accuracy was compared. This comparison approved that the multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN) with the SoftMax activation function trained by the Bayesian regularization algorithm is the best classifier for the considered task. This intelligent classifier accurately detects the stability regimes of more than 90% of 345 different nanofluid samples. The overall classification accuracy and misclassification percent of 90.1% and 9.9% have been achieved by this model. This research is the first try toward anticipting the stability of water-alumin nanofluids from some easily measured independent variables.

The Role of Central Bank Rate on Credit Gap in Indonesia: A Smooth Transition Regression Approach

  • This paper examines the effect of the interest rate set by Bank Indonesia on financial system stability as measured by the credit gap in Indonesia for quarterly data for the period 1976 Q1 to 2019 Q4. We suppose that the relationship between the Central Bank rate and the credit gap is non-linear. Hence, this study applies a smooth transition regression (STR) model to investigate the relationship between these variables. Our results are: first, by performing STR estimation we obtained a threshold level of Central Bank rate of 2.01. Second, a decrease in the Central Bank rate results in a reduction in the credit gap when the Central Bank rate is above or below the threshold level. The effect of the Central Bank rate is five times greater for the high regime than for the low regime. Third, we find evidence that the effect of the exchange rate, economic growth, inflation, and GDP per capita on the credit gap for the high regime is the opposite of the low regime. We suggest that policymakers need to keep the Central Bank interest rate low and stable so that the role of the bank as a financial intermediary remains stable and conducive to strengthening financial stability.

복사 열손실을 받는 셀모양 대향류 확산화염의 선형 안정성 해석 (Linear Stability Analysis of Cellular Counterflow Diffusion Flames with Radiation Heat Loss)

  • Linear stability analysis of radiating counterflow diffusion flames is numerically conducted to examine the instability characteristics of cellular patterns. Lewis number is assumed to be 0.5 to consider diffusional-thermal instability. Near kinetic limit extinction regime, growth rates of disturbances always have real eigen-values and neutral stability condition of planar disturbances perfectly falls into quasi-steady extinction. Cellular instability of disturbance with transverse direction occurs just before steady extinction. However, near radiative limit extinction regime, the eigenvalues are complex and pulsating instability of planar disturbances appears prior to steady extinction. Cellular instability occurs before the onset of planar pulsating instability, which means the extension of flammability.

한국 환율제도의 변화가 국내물가상승에 미치는 영향: 일본 및 호주와의 비교분석 (Korean Exchange Rate Regime Change and Its Impact on Inflation in Comparison to Japan and Australia)

  • 본 논문은 한국의 근본적인 거시경제변수가 두 가지 다른 환율제도(자유변동 환율제도와 시장평균 환율제도)하에서 어떻게 다르게 반응하는가를 분석 연구한다. 이와 아울러 같은 기간 동안의 일본과 호주의 거시경제구조에 대한 비교 분석도 곁들인다. 한국은 1997년의 경제위기를 전후하여 환율정책을 시장평균 환율제도에서 자유변동 환율제도로 전환하였다. 이 시점을 계기로 한 한국의 외환정책 변경은 두 가지 환율제도를 비교 분석하는 데 아주 좋은 기회를 제공한다. 화폐경제이론에 기초한 환율결정 모델을 사용하여 대미환율과 거시경제변수에 대한 관계를 분석해 본 결과, 대미환율은 시장평균 환율제도하에서보다 자유변동 환율제도하에서 근본적인 거시경제변수에 더 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. Impulse Response Analysis 분석결과에 의하면, 환율변동이 물가상승률에 미치는 영향은 시장평균 환율제도하에서 보다 자유변동 환율제도하에서 단기적으로 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결론은 개발도상국가에서는 안정적인 관리 환율제도가 경제성장을 위해 필요하다는 일반적인 견해와 일치하는 것이다.

ON THE MODELLING OF TWO-PHASE FLOW IN HORIZONTAL LEGS OF A PWR

  • This paper aims at presenting the state of the art, the recent progress, and the perspective for the future, in the modelling of two-phase flow in the horizontal legs of a PWR. All phenomena relevant for safety analysis are listed first. The selection of the modelling approach for system codes is then discussed, including the number of fluids or fields, the space and time resolution, and the use of flow regime maps. The classical two-fluid six-equation one-pressure model as it is implemented in the CATHARE code is then presented and its properties are described. It is shown that the axial effects of gravity forces may be correctly taken into account even in the case of change of the cross section area or of the pipe orientation. It is also shown that it can predict both fluvial and torrential flow with a possible hydraulic jump. Since phase stratification plays a dominant role, the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and the stability of bubbly flow regime are discussed. A transition criterion based on a stability analysis of shallow water waves may be used to predict the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. Recent experimental data obtained in the METERO test facility are analysed to model the transition from a bubbly to stratified flow regime. Finally, perspectives for further improvement of the modelling are drawn including dynamic modelling of turbulence and interfacial area and multi-field models.

미래 군 구조에 부합된 전문인력 획득을 위한 인력획득제도 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Analysis of Acquisition Program of Human Strength)

  • This thesis is the result of the study about 'How we should develop the human resources program to gain human strength in the strategic environment of the future?' Once again, regional stability is interdependent with economic stability, political stability, and military stability of all the factors in the region. History shows that if a militarily capable regime lacks economic resources, then there is political pressure on the regime to use their military to acquire needed resources. The purpose of this study is to find the way that how to gain excellent human resources now and in the future. Military man power should be strong whenever. The Ministry of National Defense has "Reform Military Structure Plan". The focus of this Plan is Korean military strategy in the situation of the confrontation between South and North Korea and in the situation of the international relationship and the way of constructing the military strength for the future. To study these subjects, I reviewed the theories of "Acquisition Program of Human Strength" were developed and assessed the future strategic environment of the Korean Peninsula. From these studies, I suggest that The Ministry of National Defense should pursue preparing for the future military strategy and military structure. we should be skillful in supplementing the Human Strength. We should study about Military Revolution Plan and Human Strength structure for the future.
