The following is the experimental result of wool yarn shrinkage when glass tube is used for felting test. 1. A machine spun wool yarn's shrinkage more than hand spun wool yarn's. 2. Shaking has great effect on the shrinkage of wool yarns
To acquire dyeing ability on aramid(Nomex) spun yarn in supercritical fluid dyeing, supercritical fluid dying(SFD) machine of 3L scale was designed. C. I. Disperse Red 60 and Red 360 were used in this work. It was possible to increase dyeing ability and to get level dyeing of fiber by attaching assistance devices(controlling device of supercritical fluid, nozzle, cover of carrier, etc.) to SFD machine. Physical properties(tensile strength, elongation, shrinkage) of Nomex spun yam treated by SFD were not changed. K/S values of dyed Nomex spun yam with Red 360 were higher than that with Red 60 and color fastness of dyed Nomex spun yam by SFD was similar to that by conventional dyeing method.
This is studied about the development of new PET yarn having the new appearance and touch effect of Polyester(PET) Yarn as using spinning and texturing technology. The spinning technology is that we use the manufacturing technology caused to the denier difference of filaments composing of yarn. And the texturing technology is that we develope texturing condition caused to spun yarn effect as using filaments producing from the spinning processing.
This study was performed to develop a new PET yarn having the new appearance and touch effect of polyester (PET) yarn, using spinning and texturing technologies. The spinning technology is the manufacturing technology resulting in the denier difference in yarn filaments, and the texturing technology is the texturing conditions leading to spun yarn effects, using the filaments from the spinning processing.
Spandex fibers have superior stretch and elastic recovery ability. Composite yarns containing spandex are frequently used to manufacture elastic textile products and accessories. We have developed a composite yarn spinning system that produces different kinds of composite yarns containing spandex on a modified open-end rotor spinning frame. By changing the twisting parameter of composite yarns, we studied the structure and properties of rotor-spun composite yarns with spandex. The results indicate that the twisting parameter has great influence on the structure and properties of rotor-spun composite yarns with spandex. The linear density of spandex filament has influence on the properties of composite yarns too. In comparison with normal rotor-spun yarn, the appearance of composite yarns is clearer, the structure is much tighter, and the properties are improved.
This study surveys the fiber behavior in yam formation and the physical properties of Solo-spun yam. The specimens were made by six types of Solo-spun rollers with fixed twist multiplier. The physical properties such as yam count, evenness, strength, and breaking elongation of these yams were compared with the properties of ring spun yams and analysed with the mechanism of Solo-spun yarn formation. The grooves on the surface of Solo-spun roller divide the web and interfere the twist propagation. These phenomena cause the uneven draft and the fly of fiber, so the Solo-spun yam becomes finer than fing-spun yam and the yam breaking strength and elongation deteriorate, but these demerits can be improved with rounding the protruded edge of Solo-spun roller grooves.
In woven or knitted preforms for composites, the yams are often twisted for avoiding damage due to the contact with the textile machine elements. When the preforms of twisted yams are used in carbon/carbon composites, the thermal conductivity of the composites varies depending upon the degree of the yarn twist. This paper presents a thermal conductivity model of spun yarn composites. The thermal-electrical analogy and the averaging technique have been adopted in this analysis. The model prediction has been correlated with experimental results in order to confirm the model predictability. Parametric study has also been conducted to examine the effect of the yam twist on the thermal conductivity of spun yarn composites.
In this paper, the fabric specimen undergoes repeated laundering under given condition. After this cyclic laundering was applied, the crease recoveries of the specimen were measured using shirley crease revovery tester in order to evaluate the effect of factors at given condition during crease deformation. 5 samples of grey plain cloth were desized, alkali-scoured, bleached, whased with water, and air-dried. All tests were made on samples preconditioned to $65\%\;RH\;and\;20^{\circ}C$. The experimental results were analysed statistically to relate crease recoveries and the properties of smaples, recovery periods (time) of crease. Furthermore, the crease recoveries of core-spun yarn woven fabrics were discussed in comparison with those values for $100\%$ combed cotton yarn woven fabric and $65\%$ polyester $35\%$ carded cotton blended yarn woven fabric. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Regardless of materials, remarkable decrease are observed in crease recoveries about 1-5 cycles of the repeated laundering, but slack decrease are observed in crease recoveries after 5 cycle of the re-peated laundering. 2. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to recovery periods (t) of crease as follows; log$\alpha$=0.01415 log t+2.1168 ($r^2=0.94$) 3. Core-spun yarn woven fabrics were superior to $100\%$ combed cotton yarn woven fabrics and $65\%$ polyester $35\%$ carded cotton blended yarn woven fabric in crease recoveries. 4. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to cover factor (CF), thickness (T) at pressure 0.5 $gf/cm^2$, weight (W) as follows; log$\alpha$=-0.3482 log CF-0.4924 log T-0.4727 W+2.4243 ($r^2=0.88$) 5. Crease recoveries ($\alpha$) of core-spun yarn woven fabrics are relate to 2HB/B, 2HB/W, $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$, WC/T which are concerning to formation of weared clothes and bending Iran formation behavior as follows: log $\alpha$=0.0091 2HB/B+0.4667 2HB/W+0.0185 $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$+0.0114 WC/T+1.8433 ($r^2=0.86$)
In this study, PET containing 3% silver ion-exchange zeolite was mixed with cotton in a ratio of 6:4 to prepare a spun yarn to evaluate the tensile strength, absorption speed, absorption rate, antibacterial property, and the efficiency of deodorization. As a result, the following conclusions were obtained. First, it can be confirmed that silver ion exchange zeolite is evenly distributed inside and on the surface of the antimicrobial PET-SF through SEM. It was found that the tensile strength between the CVC sample mixed with silver ion zeolite PET and cotton and the normal cotton 100% sample was slightly lower in the CVC sample. Although the absorption speed and water absorption rate were measured to find out the moisture characteristics, it was confirmed that there was no significant difference. The contact angle was slightly larger in the antimicrobial CVC sample, but the time it took for the moisture to completely penetrate into the knit fabric was 0.85 seconds. In addition, it was found that out of the total mixing ratio, 40% of antibacterial PET was spun with regular cotton to produce yarn, which had an excellent bacteria reduction rate of 99.9% and a deodorization efficiency of 85%.
This paper addresses the factors hindering the image quality of lines in inkjet printed on polyester fabric as printing media. Lines were printed onto different types of polyester fabrics in warp and filling directions. Line image quality including line width, edge blurriness, and edge raggedness was assessed. The effect of capillary wicking on line image quality of printed spun polyester fabric is discussed. The factors on the image quality include printing position(top of the yam or between the yarn), printing direction(warp or filling), yarn structures(filament or spun), thread size(yam or fiber), finishing, and ink properties(evaporation rate). More than 30% differences in image quality results were observed by changing the printing location on the spun polyester fabric. The best results of the image quality were obtained with the printed plain and spun polyester fabrics. The fiber sizes may affect capillary size; therefore, the image quality can be dissimilar. Types of finishing materials and inks greatly improve the line image quality on spun polyester fabrics.
