Nature of graft transmissibility of pear abnormal leaf spot disease was examined by various grafting methods in the greenhouse and field. When the diseased and symptomless twigs were collected in winter and grafted in the next spring to the seed-originated healthy root stock, the abnormal leaf spot was developed only in the case of the diseased twigs. Double grafting on a seed-originated healthy root stock, where the diseased and the symptomless twigs were used as 1st and 2nd scions, respectively, developed abnormal leaf spot lesions without exception on the 2nd scions. Tongue-graft with the diseased and the symptomless trees also incited abnormal leaf spots on the both trees. Abnormal leaf spots of were also developed on HN-39, an indicator pear tree, used as a 2nd scion in a double graft test, where the diseased twig and a seed-originated healthy tree were used as the 1st scion and the root stock, respectively. When the diseased twig was top-grafted to the healthy root stock, lesion development of abnormal spot was limited to the grafted twig itself in the 1st year, but expanded to the main branches in the 2nd year, and spread over the whole tree in the 3rd year. This result indicates that the causal agent of abnormal leaf spot disease is transmitted by graft.

Cold-rolled carbon steel sheets are commonly used in railroad car or commercial vehicles such as the automobile. These are mainly fabricated by spot welding which is a kind of electric resistance welding. But fatigue strength of spot welding joint is lower than that of base metal due to high stress concentration at nugget edge of the spot welded part. And fatigue strength of them is especially influenced by not only geometrical and mechanical factors but also welding conditions of the spot welded joint. So for fatigue design of gas welded joints such as TS-type joints, it is necessary to obtain design information on stress distribution at the weldment as well as fatigue strength of spot welded joints. And also, the influence of the geometrical parameters of spot welded joints on stress distribution and fatigue strength must be evaluated. And analysis approach for fatigue test using design of experiment are evaluated optimum factor in TS-type welded joint and geometrical parameters of materials. Using these results, that factors applied to fundamental information for automation of fatigue design.

Spot-welding is a widely used manufacturing method for thin-sheet components, especially in mass-production industries such as the car industry. Automobiles are often constructed by multi-lap spot welding to secure the passenger from the accident, where optimisation of the welding conditions is a major economic consideration. This research is conducted to investigate weldability characteristics with various welding conditions on the 4-lap spot welded joint of structural steel sheets in automobile. The relationship between the tensile-shear strength and the indentation depth has been investigated to propose the optimum welding conditions. The welding current and the welding time have a greater effect on the welding characteristics than the electrode force. It was found that the electrode force has a relatively close relationship with the expulsion occurrence. The design curves for optimum welding are proposed for the 4-lap spot welded joint.

When welding a car frame with one spot welding there are same limitations because many parts of it cannot be simplified by one spot welding alone. It is presented two spot welding model for the description of the spot welding which is usually used in a car frame structure. This study primarily covers fatigue behavior taking spot welded SPCC(Steel plate carbon C) with different ungget intervals as a tension shear specimen. It was prepared that intervals between two nuggets are varied as 9mm, 14mm, and 20mm respectively. The tensile tests and fatigue tests were executed to know the mechanical properties under static and fatigue load condition. In addition, the relationship between fatigue life and nugget intervals was illustrated by finite element method.

In this paper, for the purpose of investigation the acoustic emission(AE) behaviors during resistance spot welding process and tension test of spec steels. As the results present the resistance spot welding method that can get suitable welding qualities or structural integrity estimating method. The resistance spot welding process consists of several stages: set-down of the electrodes; squeeze; current flow; forging; hold time; and lift-off. Various types of AE signals are produced during each of these stages. For tensile-shear test and cross tensile test in resistance spot welded specimens, fracture pa 야 ems are produced: tear fracture; shear fracture; and plug fracture. Tensile-shear specimens strength appeared higher than cross tensile specimens one. In case of tensile-shear specimen happened tear fracture that crack happens in most lower plate. Also, in case of cross tensile specimens, upper plate and lower plate are detached perfect fracture was exposed increases a little as acting force is lower than ordinary welding condition. Therefore, the structure which is combined by resistance spot welding confirmed that welding design must attain so that shear stress may can interact mainly.
Recently, a new issue in designing spot welded structures such as automobile and train car bodies is to predict an economical fatigue design criterion. One of the most typical and traditional methods is to use a ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve. However, since the fatigue data on the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curve vary according to the welding conditions, materials, geometry of joint and fatigue loading conditions, it is necessary to perform the additional fatigue tests for determining a new fatigue design criterion of spot-welded lap joint having specific dimension and geometry. In this study, the stress distributions around spot welds of various spot welded lap joints such as in-plane bending type (IB type), tension shea. type (TS type) and cross tension type (CT type) were numerically analyzed. Using these results, the ΔP-N$\sub$f/ curves Previously obtained from the fatigue tests for each type were rearranged into the Δ$\sigma$-N$\sub$f/ relations with the maximum stresses at the nugget edge of the spot weld.

Having found by means of a tension-shear test an optimal spot welding condition under which the maximum weld strength is to be brought forth, this study made an examination of behavior of fracture concerned with behavior of stress distribution, observed around the nugget periphery of the specimens prepared under the optimal conditions, with one point spot welded mild steel sheets. The resultant findings are as follows: (1)There remarkably exists an optimal spot welding condition to indicate the maximum weld strength, and fracture of the specimens spot welded under that condition occurs outside the nugget boundary. (2)An experiment on the basis of a photoelastic model reveals that the maximum stress is distributed along the center line of the steel plate width but occurs on the region corresponding to heat affected zone of spot welds. (3)Heat affected zone of spot welds consists of coarse grains with considerably low micro Vickers hardness value and of fine grains of high micro Vickers hardness value, and in this unbalanced structure weak region are represented in coarse grain region, where fracture is initiated and continues its propagation.
Resistance spot welding process is completed in very short time and there are many factors affecting on the generation of heat. It is difficult to control these experimental factors and monitor distribution of the temperature and stresses in the experimental analysis case. and too much time and expense are required for the experimental trials to fine proper welding condition. So numerical analyses have been attempted steadily, but most numerical analyses on the resistance spot welding are mainly focused on thermal behavior. Therefore, in this paper, the numerical analysis of mechanical behavior as well as heat conduction is carried out for the spot welding process. For this numerical analysis, axial symmetric computer program for the spot welding analysis by F.E.M. has been developed considering heat conduction and thermal elastic-plastic theory. Material properties depending on temperature such as density, heat conductivity, heat expansion coefficient, specific heat, yield stress, elastic modulus, and specific resistance are considered. Using the results of temperature distribution obtained from heat conduction analysis, the thermal elastic-plastic analysis is carried out to clarify mechanical behavior of spot welded specimen. In order to evaluate the effect of residual stresses, numerical analyses are carried out under tension-shear load in two cases respectively; one with residual stress, the other without residual stresses.

In general, multi-lap spot weld joints are frequently present in automobile. Most research, however, has been focused on the single-lap spot weld joints until now. In this paper, tensile-shear strength tests are performed to examine the weldability of 3-lap spot joint welded by using the high strength steel sheet and the zinc coated steel sheet. The indentation depth and nugget diameter are used to propose the optimum welding conditions. The weldability is affected by the welding current and welding time for 3-lap spot joint. Meanwhile the expulsions is round to decrease with the increase of electrode force. The optimum welding conditions are presented for 3-lap spot joints of high strength steel sheet and zinc coated steel sheet.

This paper presents a comparison of an experimental study on spot and plug welding of an automotive body panel. Spot welding is a common joining technology used in automotive body panel assembly. In automotive body repair, however, plug welding is widely used due to its technical simplicity and cost benefit. Some researchers have focused on the use of spot welding in the manufacturing process, but there has been very little research done with respect to the engineering analysis of the plug welding process. In this study, two kinds of specimens are considered to compare the difference of failure strength between spot weld and plug weld: normal tension and shear tension. The experimental results show, in both normal tension and shear tension, that spot welding has higher failure strength than plug welding. In addition, plug welding is more vulnerable to shear tension than normal tension. This study can be applied to further studies on practical optimization for maintenance and repair of automotive body panels.
